Barry Allen will return to Central City when THE FLASH returns for its fourth season, but how he returns is a matter of speculation for the fans right now. In a new interview with FLASH producers Andrew Kreisberg and Todd Helbing, the EPs reveal that “the circumstances of his return and what he’s like when he comes back from this experience” is part of the fun of the season premiere. Kreisberg is also assuring fans that the show won’t be trying to go any darker than it was last season. In fact, the premiere, titled “The Flash Reborn”, will kick off a bit of a restart of the show, which will aim to be a bit more “fun” in its fourth year.

The producers also revealed the following teasers for the new season:
- Gypsy will be back in episode 4.02 and episode 4.04 is an episode that heavily involves Cisco and Gypsy. Kreisberg thinks “the fans will die” in response to the episode.
- As for Caitlin, “if you’re a fan of Killer Frost you won’t be disappointed. And if you’re a fan of Caitlin Snow you won’t be disappointed either,” Kreisberg said.
- In the new season, the producers wanted to feature a new villain after having had a speedster big bad for the last three years. This year The Flash and his team will be up against “The Thinker”, who will be played by Neil Sandilands (THE 100).
