The Riverdale High Drama Department is putting on a special musical episode of the show based on “Carrie: The Musical”. The special episode, which will feature 11 songs, will air on Wednesday, April 18 on The CW. The musical within the show will be directed by Kevin Keller and “Carrie: The Musical” is described as “a dark-yet-catchy cautionary tale exploring the gritty realities of small-town high school life”. The production combines elements of the novel, the 1976 movie, the 1988 Broadway production, the 2012 Off-Broadway revival and the 2013 remake. Jughead Jones will be filming a behind-the-scenes documentary to give RIVERDALE fans a look at what’s going on as the students gear up for the production.
Cheryl Blossom will play the role of Carrie White, who goes up against her new rival Chris Hargensen (played by Veronica Lodge). Betty Cooper and Archie Andrews will play Sue Snell and Tommy Ross, respectively. Other characters to appear in “Carrie: The Musical” include Reggie Mantle, Josie McCoy, Alice Cooper, Toni Topaz, Ethel Muggs, Midge Klump, and Moose Mason. Alice Cooper will make a guest appearance as Carrie’s mother, Margaret.
