Well consider today your lucky day, because theTVaddict.com is giving away BROTHERS & SISTERS: THE COMPLETE FIFTH AND FINAL SEASON on DVD. That’s the good news. The bad news is that if you want to win this fantastic freebie you’re going to have to prove yourself worthy by answering the following skill testing question: Over the course of the show’s five seasons, just how many Walker family members did we meet… including but not limited to those who married into the family and the all too frequent long lost half brother and/or sister?

To qualify to win, simply enter your best guess in the comments below. One lucky commenter will be picked at random and notified via email on August 30th, so please be sure to use a valid email address. Not a winner? BROTHERS & SISTERS: THE COMPLETE FIFTH AND FINAL SEASON is now available on Amazon for only $31.99, which in case you’re wondering is 30% off the list price of $45.99.

Is there any hope for Addison and Sam on PRIVATE PRACTICE? — Lesley
The TV Addict: Oh, there’s always hope,! Unfortunately Addison and Sam’s not-so-direct-flight to “happily-ever-after-ville” will be hitting some serious turbulence this May 15th at 10PM thanks to the arrival of a mysterious admirer [Benjamin Bratt] who offers Addison an offer she can’t, but probably should, refuse.

Any word on how DESEPERATE HOUSEWIVES plans to end the season? — Jenn
The TV Addict: In typical Wisteria Lane fashion, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES will be kicking off May Sweeps with a bang. Or to be more specific, an arrest of one on your favorite Wisteria wives. What’s more, Sunday’s episode which we recently had the opportunity to screen will also include the arrival of a prowler on the lane and some serious marital strife for one of the show’s most stable couples.

Will fans of BROTHERS & SISTERS be content with the upcoming season/series finale? — Madison
The TV Addict: Assuming you’re armed with an ample supply of Kleenex, by all accounts, the May 8 finale appropriately titled “Walker Down the Aisle” that sees Luc and Sarah exchange their “I Do’s” will leave loyal fans sufficiently satisfied should it end up being BROTHERS & SISTERS’s swan song.

On a recent episode of THE MIDDLE I couldn’t help but notice a hint at a romance brewing between Sue and the eldest Glossner boy. Am I crazy? — Amber
The TV Addict: Not in the least! In fact, we recently had the chance to pose that precise question to Sue’s portrayer Eden Sher, who had this to say on the matter, “If they told me anything I would be the first to divulge any and all information to you, so I have no idea what they have planned in season 3. That would be amazing though, I have strong feelings for Sue as a real life person and I feel like she needs some sort of crush action going on… well reciprocated crush action.”

Despite the fact millions of Americans who tune into CBS’ procedural heavy lineup each and every week, you all but ignore them. What do you have to say for yourself? — Bill
The TV Addict: Not much! Except that we hope to make it up to you with the barrage of teases courtesy of a just released CBS press release touting a whole slew of CBS season finales. Ready? 3… 2… 1… GO! On Sunday May 8 CSI: MIAMI will end their season by leaving two CSI’s in life-threatening peril. On Thursday May 12, CSI: ORIGINAL RECIPE will end the season with Langston being drawn into a final showdown with serial killer Nate Haskell. On Friday May 13th Mac will survive a near death experience. BLUE BLOODS will end its freshman year on May 13th with Tom Sellick taking matters into his own hands to avenge his son Joe’s death. On May 16th McGarrett will come face to face with his arch nemesis Wo Fat. On Tuesday May 17th the lives of the NCIS team are jeopardized when they confront the infamous Port-to-Port killer followed by NCIS: LOS ANGELES which will see Callen and the NCIS team investigate Hetty’s disappearance. Got that?

Any guesses as to whose funeral the cast of GLEE will be attending? — Francie
The TV Addict: Rumor has it funeral has something to do with the death of coherent storytelling! Just kidding. Actually, according to star Matthew Morrison it’s an actual person. “Somebody’s dying. Obviously I’m not going to tell you who it is, but it is no-one you would probably expect. The episode right before the finale is called ‘Funeral’. We were actually recently at a funeral home shooting all day. It was a very taxing day.”

According to reports the season finale of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER has Ted meeting his future wife. What are the odds we’ll meet her? — Mark
The TV Addict: Put it this way, if Ted actually comes face-to-face with the titular mother in the upcoming sixth season finale it will be the best kept secret since the ending to LOST. Seriously, we find it hard to believe that creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas could cast such a pivotal role without any of the media getting wind of it. That said, to give you an idea as to just how pivotal the May 12 finale is in terms of “Mother” mythology, you probably should know that Rajit (Marshall Manesh) is signed on to appear… along with Chi McBride (Rod), Dave Foley (Mr. Bloom), Bob Odenkirk (Arthur), Jennifef Morrison (Zoey), and Nazanin Boniadi (Nora).

With so many season finales coming up, is there one in particularly you’re looking forward to most? — Amy
The TV Addict: WOW, where to begin. While we’re certainly curious as to how high the body count will be on what promises to be a bloody THE VAMPIRE DIARIES season ender, and of course if BONES creator Hart Hanson will live up to the episode title that is “The Change in the Game,” we’ve recently come across something so outlandish, so unbelievable, and so borderline offensive that we can’t wait to see how it plays out. That something: Margaret Cho guesting on the 30 ROCK season finale as Kim Jon-Il!

Despite the fact that on the surface, Showtime’s THE BORGIAS — complete with copious amounts of sex and gratuitous levels of violence — is equal to timeslot rival GAME OF THRONES in almost every respect. There is one unmistakeable thing that separates HBO’s big budget fantasy from Jeremy Irons Showtime starrer: Have you seen those adorable Dire Wolf Cubs?

SUNDAY NIGHT ON ABC
As much as we hate to be that guy — you know, the Hollywood cliché who swaps his steady squeeze for a hot young newcomer — we recently decided that it was time to trade ol’ reliable Sunday stalwarts DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and BROTHERS & SISTERS for the flashier newbies GAME OF THRONES and THE KILLING. Don’t shoot the messenger.

TREME
As much as we’d like to applaud HBO for continuing to shine a much needed spotlight on a post-Katrina New Orleans — particularly in lieu of America’s 24/7 Cable News Outlets who seem to be far more interested in covering Lindsay Lohan’s legal snafu — nothing screams “bummer of a way to end a weekend” like a TREME viewing party. Worse still, we’re not the only ones who feel that way.

With apologies in advance to Showtime, no amount of Emmy love for star Edie Falco can make up for the fact that following WEEDS, DAMAGES and THE UNITED STATES OF TARA we’re thisclose to O.D.’ing on cable shows starring incredibly brilliant albeit somewhat damaged woman.

TELEVISION NEWS
You know, those programs media conglomerates spend hundreds of millions of dollars per year on so that they can alert you to news your Twitter feed “spoiled” 7 hours ago! (See: Japanese Earthquake)

Any scoop on Thirteen’s return to HOUSE? — Allison
The TV Addict: Scoop Plenty… specifics, not so much. Particularly because we wouldn’t exactly want to get on Fox’s bad side by inadvertently revealing the Krazy shocking and unexpected set of circumstances surrounding Thirteen’s incarceration. Except to say the following: Not only did Olivia Wilde inexplicably manage to get even hotter over her hiatus, HOUSE fans will be thrilled to discover that Monday’s 150th episode is among the season’s best as Wilde’s Thirteen gets the not-so-good-doctor to say three words we never thought we’d hear him utter “*** **** You!” Less thrilling, the episode is completely Cuddy and Wilson free.

Just how big of a game-changer is tonight’s NIKITA? — Ben
The TV Addict: Pretty big. Although if we’re being honest here, Michael and Nikita fans should probably brace themselves for the fact that tonight’s “Mikita” heavy instalment isn’t so much of a game-changer for our titular character as it is for Michael. So much so that after tonight, it’s pretty safe to say that he will never look at his current and former co-workers the same way again. Well, that and, now he really has a reason to keep that perma-scowl plastered across his face!

What else can you reveal about THE VAMPIRE DIARIES Klaus? — Tracy
The TV Addict: Remember last week when we teased the circumstances surrounding the first time fans will lay their eye on Klaus, well this week we do you one better with an official first look at the character responsible for more bloodshed that those zombies on THE WALKING DEAD.

Any guesses as to when Carlos will discover the truth about Andrew’s involvement in his mother’s death on DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES? — Amber
The TV Addict: If we had to guess, probably sometime before the May 1st episode, which will see Gaby and the girls temporarily staying at Bree’s house… Gulp!

Are PARKS AND RECREATION’s Leslie and Ben ever going to clue into the fact that they’re completely and utterly perfect for each other? — Jenn
The TV Addict: Once again, Leslie and Ben’s will-they-or-won’t-they is another one of those good news bad news situations. Kicking off with the bad news first, the upcoming April 21st episode will see a lonely Leslie join an internet dating site. With the good news being that in the episode appropriately titled “Soulmates” she’ll be matched with someone she already knows. Rest assured, we’re already crossing our fingers that the aforementioned special someone isn’t Tom Haverford!

Is BROTHERS & SISTERS treating their upcoming finale as a season or series finale? — Nicky
The TV Addict: Definitely a season finale. Or at least that’s the distinct impression we were left withi having recently learned that as BROTHERS & SISTERS heads into the homestretch, the Walker family fans will not just be treated to one… but two bombshells! The latter of which involves the potential appearance of yet another mysterious Walker offspring!

What are you pegging the odds that Booth and Brennan will actual go there this May? — Amy
The TV Addict: Considering Hart Hanson already let it be known that “not everyone will find it sad,” “it” of course being the upcoming finale, we’re going to go out on a limb and say that there is a 97% chance that Booth and Brennan will actually take that next step forward. Why 97%? Let’s just say we’re leaving ourselves a wee bit of wiggle room having just discovered that the finale’s title that is “The Change in the Game” could simply be referring to the location of the episode’s murder-of-the-week, which as it turns out is a bowling alley. That said, not even Hart Hanson is that diabolically evil… right?

My Big, Gay Wedding Episode
When it comes to same-sex couples tying the knot, ABC has practically cornered the market. There was Scotty and Kevin’s marriage on BROTHERS & SISTERS, and ONE LIFE TO LIVE married Kyle and Oliver before sending them to permanently reside on the backburner in favor of, as a network rep said, “stories that have a more favorable reaction from our audience.” Coming in just under the gun? GREY’S ANATOMY, where Arizona and Callie are planning their own nuptials!

The Hostage/Shooting Episode
ONE TREE HILL shot up a school. Dr. Gregory HOUSE and company were held hostage by a patient. And of course, GREY’S ANATOMY makes the list again (huh… anyone else starting to sense a pattern?) for last season’s heart-stopping episode in which a gunman stalked the facility’s surgeons.

The It’s A Wonderful Life Episode
A character hovers between life or death and either A) is shown how their passing would impact those they leave behind or B) encounters a cavalcade of ghosts (played by Very Special Guest Stars who, usually, were once cast members) who convince them to keep on living. THAT 70’S SHOW actually did an entire episode in which Eric was shown how life would be different if… he and Donna hadn’t kissed. As for GREY’s? Hello, Meredith’s near-death in the episode “Some Kind Of Miracle.”

A Musical Episode
Sorry, GREY’S ANATOMY. In our book? The one to beat will always be BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER’s epic outing, “Once More With Feeling.”

Any word on how NO ORDINARY FAMILY plans to end its season (and possibly series)? — Brandon
The TV Addict: With the return of a big baddie! Yes, LOST’s Rebecca Mader will be reprising her role as the villainous Victoria Morrow on the upcoming April 5th finale that will have the Powells working together to save J.J. who’s been kidnapped by Mrs. X (Lucy Lawless) and forced to solve an enigma that could lead to the permanence of the trilsettum’s effects.

Is there any light at the end of the tunnel for this long-suffering Booth/Brennan shipper? — Amanda
The TV Addict: There might be, depending of course on your interpretation of the following: In a roundabout way, we recently had the chance to ask the man who pulls the strings, executive producer Hart Hanson that very question and here’s what he had to say when asked in terms of character development, if it would be safe to characterize May’s finale of BONES as the show’s biggest one to date, Said Hanson, “Hahahaha, that is a very sneaky question from the TV Addict but I’m going go ahead and say yes.”

Care to share who Ivy is going to marry this season on 90210? — Jenn
The TV Addict: Umm… No. After-all, where’s the fun in this column if we can’t lord our vast array of television secrets over you? That said, what we will say, is that the gang will be getting plenty of use out of their wedding attire (read: dark suits) seeing as though the season’s penultimate episode will also have them attending a funeral.

Got anything for a WHITE COLLAR fan who is already going through post-finale withdrawal? — Ainsley
The TV Addict: When WHITE COLLAR returns this June, fans will finally get a peek into the private life of Detective Diana Barrigan when Neal meets Diana’s partner, Christie. What’s more, the episode will feature Diana as she goes undercover to protect a powerful newswoman who is about to break a deadly secret that may take down a major corporation. Which, if you ask us, is a nice change of pace from the usual episode of WHITE COLLAR where women are often overlooked and underestimated in lieu of Peter and Neal.

SMALLVILLE scoop would be super. — Lindsay
The TV Addict: You know those rumors flying around about a wedding in the highly-anticipated SMALLVILLE series finale? Consider them upgraded to fact.

Friday’s FRINGE has us incredibly concerned for Fauxlivia’s unborn child, as an expectant mother to be, anything you can reassure me would be great? — Michael
The TV Addict: Since reassuring you would take much of the suspense out of Friday’s episode, we will simply say this: Fauxlivia’s baby drama will ignite an explosive chain of events that will have serious repercussions throughout the rest of the season for the Alternate Universe. Want more? It’s gonna cost you! Seriously, you’re okay with signing over your baby’s naming rights to us right? If you ask us, theTVaddict.com has a really nice ring to it and will do wonders for our non-existent advertising budget!

Any news for us ‘Mikita’ fans? — Lesley
The TV Addict: Plenty! But first… are you sitting down? Because Nikita and Michael are heading to the alter! Okay not really, but the April 28th episode of NIKITA will have the dynamic duo posing as a married couple in order to gain the trust of an operative guarding one of Percy’s black boxes. A showdown, that in typical NIKITA fashion will naturally escalate to the point where ugly truths are revealed, loyalties will be tested, and tough decisions will be made.

On a scale of 1 to 10, just how worried should we be for Alex? — Adam
The TV Addict: Considering the April 14 episode of NIKITA will have Amanda hooking Alex up to a lie detector, pretty worried. Of course we’d be remiss if we didn’t remind you that Lyndsy Fonseca has thus far managed to keep the identity of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER’s titular mother a secret for six seasons, so at the very least, Amanda does have her work cut out for her!

When is BROTHERS & SISTERS coming back, it seems like it has been off the air for months now? — Christina
The TV Addict: Will it make you feel better to learn that when BROTHERS & SISTERS does return on April 10th, it will be doing so in a big way? We hope so, because the two back-to-back episodes not only include a custody battle when Olivia’s brother shows up and sets out to gain custody from Kevin and Scotty, but a death of a family member. (Hint: None of whom are in the photo below!)

Blood is to vampires as scoop is to me, I need it to survive. Particularly of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES variety, what’cha got? — Mandy
The TV Addict: You know how Bonnie has been somewhat on her own since the death of her grandmother? Well, the good news is that she’ll soon be meeting a relative. Unfortunately, like the majority of the mysterious newcomers to Mystic Falls, said relative has an agenda entirely of her own. Oh, and did we mention she has somewhat of a sordid past with Katherine?

Well that about wraps it up folks for this edition of “Ask the Addict.” if you’ve got a question for the TV Addict, you can email me directly at info@thetvaddict.com or follow me on twitter @thetvaddict.
In accordance with our recent conversation with a highly-placed executive at one of the big four networks, theTVaddict.com’s “Bubble Watch 2011? continues with a closer look at BROTHERS & SISTERS renewal chances.

Ratings: Suffice to say, there is a reason most shows finds themselves perilously perched on the proverbial bubble come spring, and in the case of BROTHERS & SISTERS the 6-8 million viewers the show attracts per week is numero uno!

Cost: Thanks to high profile exits by Rob Lowe (RIP: Robert McCallister) and Emily VanCamp, coupled with various members of the Walker family’s recent penchant for taking midseason vacations that have seen them going M.I.A. for episodes on end, one of the few things BROTHERS & SISTERS has gotten right this season is cutting costs.

What’s in the Pipeline: Is where things get really ugly for the Walker family. Particularly because newly-named ABC Entertainment Group President Paul Lee has wasted little time in greenlighting a slew of high profile pilots. The most worrisome of which, for BROTHERS & SISTERS fans that is, might just be Marc Cherry’s small town drama/musical hybrid HALLELUJAH which not only boasts a cast of incredibly well known actors (Donal Logue, Terry O’Quinn, Jesse L. Martin, among other), but would surely serve as the perfect lead-out to Cherry’s other show, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES.

Trends: Unfortunately, the only thing that has eroded faster than our interest in the Walker clan this season is the show’s viewership levels.

The X Factor: While there’s no denying that BROTHERS & SISTERS’ renewal chances are somewhat stacked against them, fans will be happy to know that two things do play into the show’s favor. For one, the show is produced in house by ABC Productions, which means that even if it’s not making money for the network, the show still makes money for parent company Disney via ancillary revenue such as license fees and DVD sales. And two, thanks to a dismal season which failed to produce a single bonafide hit (see: NO ORDINARY FAMILY, DETROIT 1-8-7, THE WHOLE TRUTH to name a few) ABC has a lot of holes to fill on the schedule. Gaping expensive holes which might very well encourage the network to keep around a somewhat solid veteran performer that can at least be counted on to deliver an audience without the help of promotion or, more importantly, marketing dollars.

Prediction: BROTHERS & SISTERS will get picked up, but at the expense of its cushy Sunday night at 10PM timeslot. Expect the show to be moved to either a Wednesday or Friday night.

The Oh No They Didn’t of the Week: Is it just us, or is BROTHERS & SISTERS coming perilously close to jumping the proverbial you-know-what by pairing Kevin and Scotty up with the most adorable adoptee since the gang from GROWING PAINS adopted Leonardo DiCaprio?

Funnest — If Most Difficult To Explain To Those Who Don’t Watch The Show — Twist: On CASTLE, Laura Prepon played an actress researching Beckett so she could play the big-screen version of our hero’s fictionalized take on his partner. (Trust us. It was a blast.)

Most Disappointed Producers: Clearly, the folks behind the scenes at THE BACHELOR hoped that having Brad confront the women he’d dumped last season would result in the kind of train-wreck they’d created during last season’s sit down with Brad and Vienna. Sadly for them, it was yet another indication of just how big a mistake giving the dumb lug another platform really was.

Best Farewell: Sure, we wish they’d have aired the episodes over five weeks instead of all at once. But Syfy’s marathon of the final CAPRICA’s gave viewers a bit of closure while at the same time setting up the world in which BLOOD & CHROME — the much-discussed pilot that will be set post-CAPRICA but pre-BATTLESTAR GALACTICA — will take place.

Most Disappointed Producers [Runner-Up]: MODERN FAMILY’s Steve Levitan and Christopher Lloyd, whose worst nightmare — that being the onset of puberty in their pint-sized stars — seems to have started to kick in. Specifically in Nolan Gould (Luke) who may-or-may-not have shot up three inches since the last time we saw him!

Worst Trend: The completely overt and utterly over-the-top product placement littered throughout the so-called 37th ANNUAL PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD made Bobby’s equally shameless shilling for Diet Dr. Pepper on COUGAR TOWN seem almost Shakespearean in its cleverness. And not just because it elicited a personal response from co-creator Bill Lawrence via twitter. Okay, maybe a little.

Best Thing About Winter So Far: Thank you, Grilled Cheesus, for the seasonal version of ABC’s WIPEOUT… and the wonderfully-entertaining idiots who take on the obstacle course for our amusement.

Sudsy Moment Of The Week: THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS Skye supposedly perished after falling into a… wait for it… wait for it… volcano. Sure, this technically happened last week, but we didn’t have this amazing column in which to report it last week. Deal.

Best Use of Numbers: After six seasons of ground-breaking, albeit somewhat frustrating viewing, investing 121 hours in watching LOST finally paid off… in the form of $150 dollars for those lucky LOST <strike>nerds</strike> fans who played the show’s numbers (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, & 42) in Tuesday’s Mega Millions.

Worst use of Numbers: HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER’s clever countdown from 50, the fascination with which came to a screeching halt when it dawned on us just what exactly it was counting down to. RIP Marshall’s dad.

From ridiculous season finales that featured 12 minute music montages leaving virtually every single character’s life hanging in the balance, to our intense dislike of Lana Lang, the past few seasons of SMALLVILLE have been anything but super. Luckily for the CW — our kryptonite is the likes of special guest stars Laura Vandervoort and Keri Lynn Pratt. Both of whom brought us back into the fold this season, where we not only can’t help but be impressed by the epic fashion the show has handled Lex Luthor’s absence, but the even cooler way in which every episode of the season thus far has inexplicably ended with an iconic nod to the Superman mythos.

90210
What’s the only thing more unexpected than Annie getting off with a glorified slap-on-the-wrist and a month or two of house arrest for a hit and run in which she killed a man, ran away from the scene of the crime and covered it up for the better part of a year? How about the fact that the CW’s poorly conceived 90210 reboot has not just gotten good, it has gotten really good. And while we’re hesitant to say that the third year series has reached the heights of its predecessor just yet (Again, are we the only ones completely confounded as to when Liam got a stalker?) the show has completely turned a corner this season by mastering what made the original series so addictive. Mixing the fun (as in Monday’s surprisingly smart “Undies-achiever” party) with the not-so-fun (like Naomi’s rape and Teddy’s coming out, both of which have been handled remarkably well thus far.)

Now here’s a phrase we never thought we’d say, a crazed gunman shooting up a hospital may have been the best thing to happen to Seattle Grace since Katherine Heigl’s exit. Seriously, talk about your wake up call. Characters seem more interesting, and stakes more dire, to the point that we’re just about willing to forgive Shonda Rhimes for “Ghost Denny.”

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES
Never send a woman to do a man’s job. Or at least that’s what we’ve come to conclude when it comes to this resurgent season of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. No really, think about it. After six seasons of failing to introduce a mystery anywhere near as compelling as the original one surrounding Mary Alice Young’s murder, creator Marc Cherry finally did. And all it took — with apologies to Alfre Woodard, Dana Delany and Drea De Matteo — was a little testosterone in the form of the unexpected return of uber-creepy Paul Young, who is back and better than ever. And by “better than ever,” we of course mean up to no good and loads of fun to watch.

Our feelings on this fantastic fifth season of BROTHERS & SISTERS can be summed up in two simple words: Team Scotty!
