Dear TV Addict, I know you’re on vacation, but as someone who has really been enjoying your increasingly informative ‘Ask the Addict’ columns as of late I was wondering if there was any chance you could post an abbreviated one this week? — Jeff
The TV Addict: Ask and ye shall receive! Thanks in no small part to our somewhat insatiable addiction to TV, coupled with the unexpected access to high speed internet available at the current undisclosed location we find ourselves staying in, we’re only too happy to oblige with a vacation shortened edition of ‘Ask the Addict’ in 3… 2… 1…

With the new season of DEGRASSI now less than two weeks away, I’m hoping you can provide some intel on what to expect. Have I mentioned I cannot wait for July 18th? — Hillary
The TV Addict: Think you’re excited for DEGRASSI’s July 18th premiere (9PM on TeenNick and MuchMusic in Canada), well, join the club. In fact, we’re so enthusiastic for the eleventh season of Canada’s most popular export that we decided to cajole our source on the set to share some scoop… and share he (or “she” did!). Not only will the one-hour season premiere feature a VERY (Editor’s Note: Our source actually took it upon themselves to type “very” in all caps) unexpected death, the aftermath will be felt throughout the season. What’s more, continuing the show’s penchant to go where no teen-oriented show has gone before, our source promises that Adam (Jordan Todosey) is going to explore the physical sides of being an FTM transgender teen.

Loving Season Two of ROOKIE BLUE! Any intel? — Michelle
The TV Addict: We don’t so much have intel, as a belated birthday gift for star Gregory Smith in the form of some really great news. Turns out, despite the fact that both ABC and Global TV in Canada have yet to officially announce a third season pickup, your very own TV Addict has learned that casting has already begun for third season!

I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about zombies on the new season of TORCHWOOD. Is MIRACLE DAY really borrowing a page from THE WALKING DEAD’s playbook? — Tina
The TV Addict: You’ve heard correctly. TORCHWOOD: MIRACLE DAY has in fact entered the zombie-zone! Or at least that’s what we’re calling a planet full of people who can’t die. Suffice it to say, it’s not pretty.

Are Amy and Paul going to get their own storyline this season on THE NINE LIVES OF CHLOE KING? — Lesley
The TV Addict: All is not smooth sailing for Chloe’s BBF’s and in the July 12 episode Paul tries to get creative in his attempt to patch things up with his lady-love only to have it backfire spectacularly which may leave the door open for a rival who catch’s Amy’s eye.

Getting even more excited for TERRA NOVA, any scoop to tied me over until this show finally premieres? — Bill
The TV Addict: Scoop, we’ve got tons. Unfortunately since we have this little thing about staying on Fox’s good side, we’ll simply say that Jim Shannon’s (Jason O’Mara) brood isn’t the only dysfunctional family fans are going to have to worry about come TERRA NOVA’s much-anticipated September premiere.

What’s next for Zane and Jo in the upcoming season of EUREKA? — Rayna
The TV Addict: Zane is not a clueless as he may have previously appeared in this new timeline. The mystery of how or why Jo had his grandmother’s ring drives him a bit crazy and he takes drastic measures to learn the truth.

Love, love, love me some PARENTHOOD. Any word on what’s in store come Season 3? — Brenda
The TV Addict: Since TVLine’s Vlada Gelman beat us to the punch with regards to yesterday’s big PARENTHOOD scoop (Pause as we clench fist, stare up into space and scream “TVLiiiiiiinnnnnneeeee!”), we’ll simply touch on the single biggest bit of info that TVLine completely ignored! Jason Ritter’s Mr. Cyr, who fans may remember as Sarah’s (Lauren Graham) on again off again love interest will be back. R.I.P. THE EVENT.

Since you shamelessly took it upon yourself to whip the entire BONES fandom into a frenzy by tweeting out that you had the chance to see tonight’s much-anticipated finale a day early, I am dying to know… your reaction? — Amy
The TV Addict: Truthfully… still processing… can’t function… Hannah… returns… just kidding… But seriously folks, outside of a corner office working at Entertainment Weekly, there is pretty much nothing you could offer me that would entice me to ruin the multiple surprises in store for BONES fans tonight.

Will telling you that you’re 33.2% better looking than Micahel Ausiello earn me any BONES scoop in terms of the show’s central “will-they-or-won’t-they” question? — Bella
The TV Addict: Despite the fact that statistics have actually proven that we are in fact 43.2% better looking than Michael Ausiello, we will aqueous to your sucking up — which by the way we give you a solid B- for — by offering up one tantalizing tease: BONES mastermind Hart Hanson knew what he was doing when he named tonight’s episode “The Change in the Game.” Not only would we not have in a million years predicted the direction the show is headed, we can pretty much guarantee BONES will never be the same.

How much, if any role does last week’s death of Vincent Nigel Murray play into tonight’s episode? — Montana
The TV Addict: Unfortunately, due to the self-contained procedural nature of BONES, the fact that the Jeffersonian gang barely acknowledges the shocking events of last week’s episode — with the exception of one incredibly touching gesture — is our only quibble with tonight’s season ender.

In spite of my affection for seeing WEEDS’ Nancy Botwin all tied up, I’m somewhat curious as to how she’s going to get out of police custody when the show returns. And ideas? — Billy
The TV Addict: Not so much ideas as photographic proof, that when WEEDS returns this June 27th, Nancy Botwin will most definitely get to experience the sweet smell of freedom. What’s more, if this just obtained spoiler pic (above) is any indication, she’ll be experiencing it in the Big Apple!

Has any news leaked from today’s CW Upfront with regards to the upcoming new seasons of GOSSIP GIRL, THE VAMPIRE DIAIRES, NIKITA and SUPERNATURAL? — AJ
The TV Addict: If by news, you mean these tiny morsels of scoop courtesy of this just released CW press release, well enjoy.

GOSSIP GIRL: Season Five will open in the City of Angels when a reenergized Chuck and Nate decide to pay Serena a visit. Back home, Blair learns that planning a royal wedding can be a royal pain, and Dan discovers the ramifications of writing candidly about his closest friends. Finally, the surprise return of cousin Charlie will threaten to destroy the van der Woodsen family from within. Watch out Upper East Siders, this season nobody’s safe, and everybody’s going to be sorry….XOXO, Gossip Girl.

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: Season three opens the door to learn more about Klaus and The Original Family as his motives for wanting Stefan on his side are finally revealed. As Stefan sinks deeper into the dark side, Damon and Elena struggle with the guilt of their growing bond even as they work together to bring Stefan back from the edge. The ghosts from Jeremy’s past have a powerful message they’re trying to deliver to him, not to mention the impact they’re having on his relationship with Bonnie. And as Caroline and Tyler grow closer, a war erupts between their families.

NIKITA: When NIKITA returns for its butt-kicking second season, Nikita and Michael are on the run with a hard drive containing the government’s darkest secrets and conspiracies. Together, they are going to right the wrongs that Division has committed over the years, one mission at a time. But leading the hunt for them this time is Alex…and she knows all of Nikita’s tricks.

SUPERNATURAL: Now, in season seven, the Winchesters will find themselves in an increasingly sinister, changing landscape, up against a new foe unlike anything they’ve ever fought. They’ll find their old tricks, weapons and hiding places all rendered useless. All they’ll have is each other. And the certainty that, like the last of the cowboy outlaws, whatever they face, they’re not going down without a fight.

Any word on what fans can expect when SONS OF ANARCHY returns this Fall? — David
The TV Addict: Since Kurt Sutter, SONS OF ANARCHY’s brilliant albeit incredibly intimidating showrunner scares the bejesus out of us, all we’re willing to spill — assuming of course your name isn’t Entertainment Weekly editor Jess Cagle —is that according to sources, the fourth season premiere includes an engagement and a wedding.

Is there any chance COVERT AFFAIRS plans on shedding some much needed light on how Auggie lost his sight?
The TV Addict: Funny you should ask, because we just uncovered some intel that points to the sixth episode of COVERT AFFAIRS second season entitled, “Half a World Away” being an Auggie-centric one that will have him reliving the mission in Iraq that left him blind.

Any idea as to what fans can expect from PRETTY LITTLE LIARS this summer? — Jessica
The TV Addict: Life in Rosewood continues to be tense with the disappearance of Ian’s body as the girls are sent to therapy to get to the root of their dramatic accusations. The only bright spot is that despite pressure to keep away from each other, Spencer and Toby remain determined to make their young romance work – which won’t be easy as they discover they are two very different people. The path to true love is filled with good intensions, but real life makes it feel more like a bed of thorny roses.

So excited for the return of ROOKIE BLUE, any scoop? — Michael
The TV Addict: Detective Andy McNally comes face-to-face with two of her biggest fears in the 2nd season – one which challenges her physically and the other which challenges her emotionally. As if putting her life on the line in the field is not enough, Andy is asked to endure the impossible at the office: her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend just transferred in.

Not so much of a question but a statement: I would love to know who will be the next boss of Dunder Mifflin Sabre — Amanda
The TV Addict: So would too! Thus, in lieu of actual information we thought we’d offer up a first look at some of the <strike>celebrity cameos candidates who you’ll meet in tonights episode, including Warren Buffett, Will Arnett, Jim Carrey and Ray Romano.

With the end of the official 2010-2011 TV season just around the corner, we here at theTVaddict.com thought now might be as good a time as any to assure our fellow TV Addicts that all is not lost. Suffice it to say, there will be plenty of reasons to avoid those so-called “great outdoors” this summer and ample opportunity to unwind on your comfy, albeit heavily air conditioned, couch. And here with your first of those reasons are stars Missy Peregrym and Gregory Smith with a preview of ROOKIE BLUE’s much anticipated second season.

ROOKIE BLUE caught everyone’s attention last summer with its heart-felt and personable tales of a quartet of rookie police officers enduring the trials and tribulations of their first year. Returning for its second season, the red-hot summer series returns with a bang when one of the team gets shot, which sends after-shocks and ripple-effects throughout the upcoming season.

Missy Peregrym and Gregory Smith took time out of their busy schedules to share a bit about the show and what to expect.

Commenting first about the astounding success of the series, both Missy and Greg admitted that the show’s first season ratings exceeded their wildest expectations. They were initially nervous to see how it would do in a competitive primetime timeslot during the difficult summer months. But, as the ratings came in each week, they were stunned. In fact, one of their producers told them to not get too excited because there must have been some mistake. But the ratings were in fact that good and the second season pick-up was quickly ordered. To have that boost of confidence from both the viewers and the network has made it a pleasure to work on the show.

Then, despite comparisons to other procedural dramas, Missy and Greg said that their focus is strictly to do the best job possible on a show that is giving them creatively a lot to work with. They love the dual exploration into their character’s personal and professional lives; and the second season will continue with that tension between the professional/personal lives of the rookies and how each affects the other.

Providing a few teasers of what to expect, Missy shared that her character Andy is now living with her boyfriend Luke and while that is great, some tension arises when Luke’s ex-girlfriend and ex-partner transfers into the division. The fact that this other woman clearly wants him back and is a ranking superior to Andy stirs up a brewing problem.

Despite the personal tensions, due to the fact that neither Andy nor Dov (Greg’s character) need training officers this season, it places them in positions where they have to rely on themselves and each other. In addition, they are now able to delegate responsibilities, choose their own partner, and they will be the first on the scene – which means they have to be ready for anything; and being on the frontlines and in charge means you can be a target too – as Andy quickly finds out.

Another change that will be felt is Andy’s heightened awareness that Sam is no longer her training officer, which had made it taboo for them to date. With Luke’s ex back and causing problems, that previously forbidden opportunity will weigh on Andy’s mind as the season unfolds.

Then talking about how he prepared for both the physical and mental aspects of the role, Greg humorously shared that he did some extra training – just keep up with Missy! In all seriousness, he said they all had participated in cop boot-camp before season one and he also did a few ride-alongs in order to get a feel for what that aspect of the job actually felt like. Thus, he can see the parallels between the reality versus what is portrayed on the show – though reality is a lot more dangerous and taxing. He also admitted that he loves his character Dov’s misguided enthusiasm and roll-n-roll attitude, which creates a lot of opportunities to watch Dov squirm. He also said that this season stories will show more of Dov’s personal life and a little bit more of his serious side, which will help the audience understand why he is the way he is.

Both Missy and Greg also admitted that they have taken more initiative to talk to the writers this season, pitching ideas for their characters. Though Missy said that she was very satisfied with where the writers have taken her character. Both Greg and Missy admitted that they love delving more into the characters after reading each script and appreciate the open door policy with the writers.

Finally, as a big tease – and perhaps a fake storyline — as for what Greg would like to see more of for Dov, he joked that he thinks Dov has a man-crush on Sam. Though he sheepishly admits the writers have not really taken the bait on that idea. So to help foster the idea subliminally, Greg goes out of his way to mimic his co-star Ben Bass in scenes. It is all ‘cause Sam Swarek is such a bad-ass and, in his mind, Dov thinks it would be cool to be more like him.

So with a physical trauma, a few wrinkles in the Andy-Luke relationship and Dov’s secret fascination with Sam, the second season of ROOKIE BLUE promises to be a fun-filled ride. Be sure to tune in when ROOKIE BLUE returns on Thursday, June 23rd at 10PM on ABC (Global TV in Canada)

Any idea as to whether or not Tom and Lynette are actually heading for splitsville on DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES? — Jennifer
The TV Addict: It sure looks that way doesn’t it! And while we don’t pretend to know if Wisteria Lane’s most stable couple will actually go as far as to commence those dreaded divorce proceedings, what we can promise is that you won’t have to wait all summer to find out. “I believe we gain some closure,” said Tom’s portrayer Doug Savant during a recent one-on-one with the TV Addict. “This marriage and relationships in general are an ongoing evolution, but fans will be relieved to know that there is some closure to this particular issue.”

Any clues as to who will be ripping a hole in BONES’ heart tonight? — Madison
The TV Addict: Yes. But since we sure as heck aren’t about to risk the wrath of fellow countryman Hart Hanson by spilling the beans as to which character will find himself on the wrong end of sniper Jacob Ripkin Broadsky sight (Seriously, have you seen a Canadian get mad?) we will only go as far as to reveal that it’s a character that fans will most certainly scream “Nooooo!” over… followed by a quick reach for the tissues. Oh, and on the off chance you’re stopping off at a store in-between work and home, it might behoove you to stock up on tissues as tonight’s key death sends shockwaves throughout the entire team. Watch for a casket, flowers and a very unexpected song that may-or-may-not haunt you until Friday.

Full disclosure, I have a slight obsession with T.J. Thyne and his piercing blue eyes. Did Thyne happen to have anything fun to reveal about his character at the recent Paley Center Event honoring BONES? — Lindsey
The TV Addict: Fun Fact: Despite a set filled with blood, guts and gore, there is only one thing that T.J. Thyne refuses to have anything to do with on BONES: Pogo Sticks! When his castmate David Boreanaz playfully suggested that he wants to see Hodgins on a pogo stick bouncing around the Smithsonian lab, T.J. was quick to chime-in and say that it’s absolutely the one thing you will not see on the show. Bugs, blood and bodies are okay – but not the pogo stick. Though the word is still out on jet packs…

Will the unlucky in-love Dov Epstein be less so when ROOKIE BLUE returns this summer? — Darnell
The TV Addict: Truthfully, we’re not sure. But what we can share on the Dov front is that fans will learn a doozy of a secret with regards to a tragedy that plagued Dov’s family in the upcoming June 16th second season premiere. A secret that may-or-may-not shed some much needed light as to why Dov was so dead-set on becoming a police officer.

Just how exactly is SMALLVILLE planning on ending its super ten year run this Friday? — Adam
The TV Addict: According to theTVaddict.com’s very own super-girl — West Coast Correspondent Tiffany Vogt — who was fortunate enough to snag an elusive invite to special screening with SMALLVILLE executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders earlier in the week, “With a little bit of everything and a blast from the past. Executive producers Peterson and Souders admitted to re-watching the pilot and several other episodes to make sure they incorporated as much of the original mythology established in SMALLVILLE to give the series a heart-warming send off. Knowing that their job is not to end the Superman story, they instead embraced the idea of gently merging the world of SMALLVILLE with the overall Superman mythology. Their job was to build the bridge in the finale, not close the book. The finale will be more of a hand-off between the two worlds – for the story of Clark Kent and Superman is, after all, just beginning. So look for some long-lost familiar faces to pop-up and some long awaited iconic moments to finally be fulfilled.”

Care to share any of the fun stuff planned for cul-du-sac crew’s very Hawaiian vacation coming up on COUGAR TOWN? —Mandy
The TV Addict: While there is plenty of hilarity — complete with the Hawaiian version of “Penny Can” and the return of SCRUBS’ Mr. Smithers equivalent Ted “Unlucky in love” Buckland — what fans will really take away from the cul-du-sac crew’s upcoming hour-long May 25th vacation is the emotional fork in the road Jules and Grayson inexplicably encounter. One that will be eerily reminiscent of a certain relationship struggle Courteney Cox’s Monica went through during her FRIENDS years.

Any word on who is reportedly becoming a father on HOUSE? —Raja
The TV Addict: Once again, since we’re not in the business of really spoiling the countless hours of painstakingly hard work both the cast and creative team of HOUSE put into each episode — which by the way continues to be one of our most beautifully shot shows on the small screen — we’ll simply tease this: As a result of an old friend showing up at Thirteen’s doorstep with a big, bloody problem, Thirteen and Chase will… for the first time… get physical. Very Physical.

Is Nikita really dead? — Steven
The TV Addict: If you seriously think that the show would kill off its titular character, there is a bridge in Brooklyn we’re interested in selling you! That said, just to give you an idea as to how off-the-hook tonight’s shocking season finale of NIKTA is (And yes, you heard us correctly CW, season finale), we should probably warn you: A series regular will die at the hands of a somewhat perturbed Amanda… who to put it mildly… has not taken to being left in the dark by Percy well. Not well at all.

Anything on my favorite COVERT AFFAIRS character Auggie? — Donna
The TV Addict: Following up on TVLine’s recent scoop that had Auggie being sent to “an as-yet-undisclosed international location off the continent,” we are thrilled to be able to reveal the identity of said undisclosed location. Auggie, posing as a music journalist, is headed to Istanbul, where in typical Auggie fashion he’ll catch the eye of a beautiful Lufthansa flight attended named Franka who will of course be much more than she first appears to be.

Any chance you know who wins tonight’s second-annual Paintball extravaganza on COMMUNITY? — Richie
The TV Addict: Alas, the winner of tonight’s much-anticipated match is being kept tightly under wraps. But, in an effort to ensure readers don’t click away empty handed, we thought we’d share with you the identity of two of tonight’s unexpected guest stars, which as you can see from the spoiler photo below are being kept under slightly-less tight wraps.

Any word on how ROOKIE BLUE plans on kicking off its sophomore season this June? — Amy
The TV Addict: We see your word, and raise you two more. Which is to say, when last summer’s surprise smash returns this June 16 on ABC (Global TV in Canada) it will be doing so “with a bang.” That’s the good news. The bad news is said bang spells bad news — of the bullet in the chest variety — to one of the series regulars pictured in the above photo. Gulp!

Recently you teased that when ENTOURAGE kicks off its eighth and final season, it will do so following a stint in rehab for our leader of the pack. Which raises the question, upon his release, will Vinnie’s career trajectory be that of the Robert Downey Jr. or Lindsay Lohan variety? — David
The TV Addict: Unfortunately for those hoping Vince’s tabloid troubles were left in rehab following last season’s arrest shocker, stop hoping now. As it should be, the road to recovery will be a long an arduous one made all the more difficult when Vince is called into question by the LAPD following the death of a friend. Double Gulp!

The only thing I love more than Mark Sheppard, is some news on what he’s doing on SUPERNATURAL this week. Any chance you got some for me? — Jennifer
The TV Addict: Suffice to say, there is a very good reason that Sheppard has become one of science fiction’s go-to guys… the man knows how to keep his mouth shut! No really. Try as she might, Tiffany Vogt, our West Coast Senior Editor Extrodinaire who recently had the pleasure of chatting with Sheppard for an interview that you’ll be able to read in its entirety tomorrow couldn’t get anything. Well, she could, but as Sheppard jokingly countered when asked what he could share about the return of Crowley on tomorrow night’s episode, “Everything!… But then I’d have to kill you.”

Loving me some Sara and Neal on WHITE COLLAR, got anything to tide me over until the show returns this summer? — Joanna
The TV Addict: Suffice to say, summer lovin’ will see Neal and Sara having a blast. Particularly when they are forced to go on a Sarah Palin-esque New York City shopping spree in an effort to catch the eye of a clever corporate hacker who siphoned over $100 million in bank assets. Oh, and if that’s not enough summer lovin’ for you, said shopping spree may also introduce Mozzie to his next lady love.

So incredibly stoked for TERRA NOVA, any scoop? — Bram
The TV Addict: Despite the fact that Fox is keeping an incredibly tight lid on the mysterious and highly-anticipated new series, your very own TV Addict has learned that a jump back through time will most definitely not be the quick fix to Jim and Elisabeth Shannon’s troubled marriage. Especially when what awaits Mama Shannon back in time is a certain Chief Science Officer who may-or-may-not be the proverbial man who got away.

Anything for this ROYAL PAINS Addict?
The TV Addict: How does scoop on an upcoming episode that will see Hank and Evan’s father turn over an unexpected leaf when he plays angel to a friend confined to a hospital bed. While, Jill has an unexpected visit of her own to the E.R. that concerns everyone, including the always watchful Boris.

Really looking forward to prom on 90210. Any idea who will be King and Queen? — Amber
The TV Addict: Idea? How does photographic evidence courtesy of a surprisingly spoilerific photo just released by the CW.

On Saturday November 13, Canada celebrated some of the best and brightest we have to offer the world of television at the 25th Annual Gemini Awards (Think: Canada’s Emmy equivalent). Hosted by GLEE’s Cory Monteith, we are not exaggerating when we say everybody who is anybody in the world of Canadian TV was there. Including, theTVaddict.com’s very own Melissa Girimonte (@thetelevixen on twitter) who, planted firmly on the red carpet had the enviable “job” of interviewing the likes of Nina Dobrev, Grace Park, the cast of ROOKIE BLUE, and more. Interviews we’ll be sharing all week in a series we’ve cleverly coined Gemini Gems.

How blown away were you with the success of ROOKIE BLUE’s first season both north and south of the border?
Gregory Smith: We were really nervous before it came on because we enjoyed doing the show so much and we had to wait while for it to actually air and when it did, for the numbers to come in the way that we did it was almost surreal.

Out of all the rookies last season, your character definitely was lacking in the romance department. Any chance Dov will get a girlfriend this season?
Yeah, I think so and maybe more than one!

And since you’re well aware of our obsession with your previous series, we have to ask if there is any chance that one of those lucky ladies might be Emily VanCamp?
You know, I tried, I spoke to her about it and she really likes the show, but the timing didn’t quite work out. We’d love to make it happen sometime in the future though as it would be a really fun little throwback for fans of EVERWOOD.

Trading in his backpack for a beretta, Gregory Smith has officially grown up.

“After EVERWOOD I could never play — at least on TV — another high school or college-aged kid,” explained the affable actor during our visit to the set of ROOKIE BLUE last fall. “Anyone who wore a backpack was out!”

Luckily for him — as well as his legion of fans from his time on the much-beloved brilliant-but-canceled WB series — his newest role, that of Dov Epstein, one of five rookie cops at the focal point of ROOKIE BLUE is 100% backpack free! Which is just one of the reasons why, after spending the better part of his post-EVERWOOD career travelling the world shooting films, he decided to return his hometown of Toronto (a city which he calls “my favorite place to shoot”) to enlist in ROOKIE BLUE.

“It takes a lot for the stars to align and for a project to turn out great, and while I was doing movies, I wasn’t quite as proud of them as some of the stuff I had done on EVERWOOD.” explained the actor. “ROOKIE BLUE was a great script, one I instantly fell in love with and the character was exactly the kind of part I was looking for.”

“As much as I loved Ephram, he was a very melancholic character that after enough time sort of seeped into my soul,” said Smith. “When I went back to TV I wanted to do something where people who knew EVERWOOD wouldn’t believe I was the same person. I wanted to show how I’d grown as both an actor as a person.”

Needless to say, mission accomplished.

With the exception of quirky character names and a shared Jewish heritage, over-eager adrenaline-junkie Dov Epstein and piano playing hopeless romantic Ephram Brown are two characters who are in no danger of being mistaken for one another in a police lineup anytime soon. Which is something you certainly don’t have to the artist formerly known as Ephram, who sees both characters as a snapshot of himself growing up.

“My teenage angst was immortalized in EVERWOOD. I was 18, rebelling against the world and so Ephram was pretty close to who I was at the time,” said Smith. “As I grew up and outgrew Ephram, I became a more actualized person who wasn’t quite as rebellious. Dov, my character on ROOKIE BLUE is now probably a lot closer to who I am now.”

“Who I am now,” being a Hollywood rarity: A young actor who has successfully managed to navigate the often perilous journey that is the transition from teenage stardom to well-adjusted and level-headed adult actor. So how did he do it?

“That’s a great question and something I’ve been thinking a lot about lately. I think I had just the right balance of success and failure. Successful enough that my confidence grew, but never enough so that I lost touch with reality,” said the actor, who was sure to credit his strong-willed mom, great friends and the fact that EVERWOOD shot in Utah, not Hollywood.

“It’s sort of hard to get in trouble in Utah. Believe me, I tried!”

Catch the series premiere of ROOKIE BLUE this Thursday June 24th at 9PM on ABC (Global TV in Canada)

Missy Peregrym: Because we had such a good time making the show in Vancouver, it didn’t really matter. In fact, I was surprised we had as many fans as we did, as we didn’t really fit in with the kind of shows that were on the network at the time. I guess when you do this long enough, you realize you can be canceled at any time anyways, so you’re just grateful to get whatever you can out of it.

What attracted you to ROOKIE BLUE?
Outside of a couple of commercials when I first started out, I really hadn’t done anything in Canada so I was very excited to come to Toronto and film the show. Also, I loved the script so much when I read it, and after meeting the producers, I was sold on it completely. I was so excited about what their ideas were for the show and where they wanted to take it. It’s been amazing and such a cool collaboration where everybody who is on the show really understands their character, so it’s a lot of fun to work on. I’m so grateful for it and am really proud of it.

Do you feel that the elevator pitch that is GREY’S ANATOMY with Cops is an accurate assessment of the show?
The only way I can relate our show to GREY’S ANATOMY, having only seen one or two episodes myself, is that they’re both very character driven and not incredibly procedural. There are five rookie cops and their training officers, and we really focus more on the relationships and the pressure involved with training for something where you’re never actually prepared for the real-life situations until they happen. The character driven nature of the show, not the code talk was what I was more interested in and why I was really attracted to this series.

What can you tell us about your character of Andy McNally?
Andy comes from a family of cops. Unfortunately her father didn’t exactly handle the pressure in the best way, which was one of the motivations for her joining the force. She wants to redeem her father’s name. Also, she’s just a really good person with great intentions. Things don’t always work out for her, but she wants to do good thing, wants justice and wants to protect people.

Coming off supporting roles on HEROES and REAPER are you finding there is any added pressure now that you’re essentially the face of ROOKIE BLUE?
In terms of REAPER, I was hardly in it and it was the easiest job for me. I loved it because I was at home, but you know I was ready to take on a role that was well-rounded, where there was a lot going on besides me just being the girlfriend and the relationship aspect of the show. This is a huge deal for me and I’m so excited to be playing a character that has so much going on. It’s a lot of work and really exhausting because it’s hard to come in everyday with so much on your plate. But as for the whether or not I feel pressure if the show’s going to fail because I’m the lead? [Laughs] Maybe, I have no idea! But I don’t feel that I’m the lead and everything revolves around me. It’s the “Rookies,” we all have our story-lines and it’s a total team effort to make this show, it’s not just me at all. I don’t feel that pressure and it’s none of my business to even worry about that. We’re all here to do our job, act and play the scenes the best that we can. Everything else is up to the network and the public and what they’re looking for in a show.

Catch the series premiere of ROOKIE BLUE this Thursday June 24th at 9PM on ABC (Global TV in Canada)

Next Thursday, a new and exciting chapter in the career of actor Gregory Smith (pictured above, left) will begin thanks to his much-anticipated return to the small screen in ROOKIE BLUE. But before that happens, we thought it might be fun to look back one last (okay, probably not last) time on his remarkable time spent in that magical little town of EVERWOOD. What follows, an exclusive one-on-one with the artist formerly known as Ephram Brown, who was kind enough to indulge us with a few EVERWOOD-related questions while visiting the set of ROOKIE BLUE last fall.

How surprised were you when the CW pulled the rug out from under you and cancelled EVERWOOD? (A show which we inexplicably feel the need to mention attracted a VAMPIRE DIARIES sized audience for the majority of its run.)
Gregory Smith: Right up until the last minute, EVERWOOD was supposed to come back and we thought we were coming back. But because we knew there was a chance we weren’t coming back as a result of what was happening with the WB and UPN [merging into the CW] we shot two endings. It’s funny, because after we shot what turned out to be the final scene of the series — I don’t know if you remember, it was the scene with Amy and Ephram at the Ferris Wheel [Editor's note: How could we forget!] – I remember feeling really like we just shot a great moment for the show that probably never was going to see the light of day. I was almost bummed that we had done it to waste, but it turned out that was the scene they ended up using. It really was a last minute decision that sort of surprised everybody. But at the same time we ended on a high creatively.

You mentioned that was the scene they ended up using? What was the scene that fans never got to see?
I was trying to remember that. I basically ended up not going outside and somehow missed Amy. Amy ended up outside the house with the Ferris Wheel while I ended up with Madison. They were going to bring Sarah Lancaster back and continue that storyline.

If there is a silver-lining to EVERWOOD’s cancelation, it’s that the cast has flourished on so many different shows. Do you keep in touch with them and watch what they do?
I see Scott [Wolf] around Los Angeles all the time and speak regularly with Emily [VanCamp] and Chris Pratt, those are the two who I keep in touch with most. Chris is awesome by the way, glad he’s totally kicking ass and taking names now [on PARKS AND RECREATION] because he’s the funniest guy I’ve ever known. Sarah Drew, she needs her own show and she’ll get it for sure one day soon [Editor's Note: This interview was conducted prior to Drew signing on as a GREY' S ANATOMY series regular!]. The younger cast I keep in touch with often, but even Treat [Williams] and Tom (Amandes] we all keep in touch. We don’t have reunions but we all sort of keep in touch individually. Same goes for [Executive producers] Rina Mimoun and Mickey Liddell.

Fans were certainly rooting for Rina’s PRIVILEGED not to get canceled so that you might have had an opportunity to guest star.
Actually there was one episode of PRIVILEGED, I think maybe in the pilot, because I’m a photographer as well, they had an art show and they used all my pictures as set dressing for the art show. We all kind of pop up in each other’s lives in different kind of ways. And then of course I did guest star for Greg [Berlanti] on ELI STONE and the reason I ended up doing the ELI STONE thing is that I hope and plan to start directing so Greg let me shadow some directors. I was on the ELI STONE set for a month and then I ended up coming back a month later to do that guest spot.

Looking back on EVERWOOD, do you have a favorite episode?
The pilot, obviously because that was just so so life changing. There was an episode “The Unveiling,” episode 17 of the first season I really liked. And the last scene in the last episode was good. There are so many I have trouble remembering, but the one I talk about the most is probably the episode with the deer just because that deer hated me so much! The first shot I did with it, I had to walk it on a leash past a waterfall and as it turned out it was scared of the water. So it freaked out, bumped me and tried to run off. And then from that moment on it forever associated me with this terrible waterfall, so I had to do a whole episode with it and any chance it got it would knock me down and run away. Not necessarily my favorite, but definitely the episode I talk about the most.

And finally, your brother [actor Douglas Smith] guested on EVERWOOD as a high school wrestler, when can we expect him to return the favour and hook you up with a spot on BIG LOVE?
I don’t know. I really pushed for him on EVERWOOD and I never felt the same sort of reciprocation from BIG LOVE! But funny enough, the producers were talking about — which I don’t think will happen this season because we’re out of episodes — but if we get another season I think he’ll guest on ROOKIE BLUE. He was up here a little while ago and it would be fun. They might even have him come on as my brother, not sure if that would actually happen, but it could be fun. We’ve never been on screen together. Ever. On EVERWOOD we only passed each other in the hallway.

Stay tuned next week when we talk to Gregory Smith about his new series, ROOKIE BLUE, premiering on ABC (and Global TV in Canada) Thursday June 24 at 9PM.

As a fellow EVERWOOD addict, I’m very excited for Gregory Smith’s return to the small screen in ROOKIE BLUE. What’s the word on the street? — Connor
The TV Addict: Having just recently had the chance to screen the pilot, fans of the artist formerly known as Ephram Brown will be happy to discover that ROOKIE BLUE does in fact live up to its billing of GREY’S ANATOMY meets NYPD BLUE by delivering a competently produced police procedural with the usual array of TV tropes that go with it (See: Inter-office romance and secrets galore!) That said, would we really be as excited for the show if it didn’t star an EVERWOOD alum? Probably not. But we’ll get to more of that in our full-fledged review coming soon.

Do you think tonight’s episode of LOST titled “The Candidate” will bring with it a definitive answer as to which Kwon, be it Sun or Jin, Jacob was referring to? — Amber
The TV Addict: Yes. But don’t take our word for it, here’s what actor Daniel Dae Kim coyly teased during a one-on-one interview with him last week late last week. “There will be progress in that regard.” Adding, “No” when we followed up with whether or not he was surprised as to who was the lucky candidate was.

As a huge fan of Puck (Mark Salling) I find myself slightly less than gleeful when it came to the show’s first three episodes back which have been severely lacking in the Puck department! When can this Puck fan expect a storyline for our favorite bad boy? — Ashley
The TV Addict: Change you can believe in comes in the form of the May 11th episode entitled “Laryngitis,” which has Rachel and her alarming sore throat taking a backseat to Puck and Kurt. The former of which looks to climb the McKinley High social ladder by making a very interesting decision. While the latter decides to adjust his personality in an effort to please his Dad, culminating in not just one, but two huge solos and what our mole on the set calls “a really huge performance piece.”

Does creator Shonda Rhimes have anymore plans for a GREY’S ANATOMY/ PRIVATE PRACTICE crossover this May? — James
The TV Addict: Unfortunately, Shonda Rhimes has already gone on record, well, make that twitter and said that as of this moment, there are no plans for any further crossover episodes this season. But if it’s crossover you’re into, FOX is picking up the slack by delivering a crossover of its very own when Peter and the gang’s search for the source of a dirty joke leads them to Virginia where they reunite with Cleveland on the May 16 episode of FAMILY GUY.

Fiercely loyal HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER fan here who keeps refreshing www.weddingbridemovie.com with the hopes of learning something, heck anything new about the movie being written by Ted’s ex-fiance’s husband Tony. Curious if you have any intel on how the movie turned out? — Mike
The TV Addict: Since prolific TV bloggers such as ourselves were banned from test screenings of the movie the only morsel of intel we have comes courtesy of this first! exclusive! look! at Ted’s reaction to seeing his life on screen. Read into that as you will.

Forget BROTHERS & SISTERS, the Bravermans are the new Walkers! Any word on just how big Papa Braverman’s money troubles are? — Piper
The TV Addict: So big that Zeek will soon find himself out on his big Braverman behind and forced to stay with Adam and Kristina. Not surprisingly, Mamma Braverman doesn’t like being kept in the dark when it comes to Papa Braverman’s financials!

I am finding myself more and more captivated by Julianna Margulies’ GOOD WIFE as the weeks wear on, any spoilers? — Madison
The TV Addict: Remember Dylan Baker’s Colin Sweeney? The totally creepy man suspected of murdering his wife earlier in the season. Well, he’s back! Downside is that he was found handcuffed to a dead woman’s body which Alicia will somehow have to explain to a jury on the May 18 episode of THE GOOD WIFE.

Do you think there is any hope for Liz Lemon? I find myself growing weary of her inevitable transformation into a live action “Cathy.” — Bill
The TV Addict: Firstly, don’t knock Cathy. And second, if Liz Lemon ends off the season alone (again!) it certainly won’t be due to a lack of effort as this Thursday’s episode has our lovelorn heroine revisiting past flames — including Jon Hamm, Michael Sheen, Jason Sudeikis and Dean Winters — in an effort to snag a date for Floyd’s upcoming nuptials.

Will THE OFFICE ever re-visit Angela and Dwight’s decision to have a baby? Or will it simply be forgotten like the Angela, Andy and Dwight love triangle? — Nina
The TV Addict: Unlike Dwight breaking up Angela and Andy’s relationship — which Dunder Mifflin as a whole seemed to be pretty okay with — Angela’s contractual obligation to sire Dwight a suitable offspring will be back in a big way this Thursday when Dwight will face the wrath of Angela after reneging on their agreement.

Any ideas as to how Rob Lowe is going to exit BROTHERS & SISTERS? — Scout
The TV Addict: If we had to guess, in a pine box John Locke style. Especially thanks to the following one-two punch that has executive producer David Marshall Grant letting it slip in a recent interview that Kitty will already have been dating when BROTHERS & SISTERS returns next season and we this just released photo featuring a very exasperated Robert, who in the May 16 season finale will find himself hugely in over his head thanks to a business deal gone wrong.

Please, please, please can you help save LEGEND OF THE SEEKER! — Michelle
The TV Addict: As our contributions to the brilliant-but-unsuccessful campaigns to save EVERWOOD, JACK & BOBBY and VERONICA MARS so clearly illustrate, we cannot. But what we can do it wish those fighting the good fight our best and notify all interested parties that you can visit saveourseeker.com for more information.
