1. 90210: That noise you just heard was 90210 finally getting interesting thanks to the introduction of Naomi’s new fast and furious guy candy (can we trademark that moniker?) Liam and Silver, who went from zero-to-crazy in less than sixty minutes.

2. LIFE ON MARS: As much as we’d like to applaud executive producers Josh Appelbaum, Scott Rosenberg and André Nemec for ending the American version of LIFE ON MARS on their own terms, it would help if we had a better understanding as to what exactly those terms were.

3. SUPERNATURAL: Regardless of whether you’re a “Sam Girl” or a “Dean Girl,” this TV Addict’s fairly confident that neither camp is complaining about Thursday’s seriously meta and super hilarious installment of SUPERNATURAL.

4. FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS: From the gut-wrenching play that lost the Dillon Panthers the State Championship in the closing seconds of the game to Tyra Collete’s heartbreaking college entrance essay, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS continues to be the best show on television nobody is watching.

5. TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES: And speaking of shows nobody is watching, our kudos of the week goes to TERMINATOR show-runner Josh Friedman for not only managing to keep a lid on one of the biggest surprises of the season, but for doing what BATTLESTAR GALACTICA’s Ronald D. Moore failed to do — pull a ‘Whedon’ by killing off a major character in a minor way.

6. ER: In what we can only assume is an unfortunate sign that ER should have checked out years ago, the hour-long retrospective that aired prior to the two-hour series finale packed a far more emotional punch than the episode in itself.

7. GLEE Trailer: If “being a part of something special makes you special” GLEE stars Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison, Lea Michele and Company are in for one helluva ride. That, and can FOX get their actor together and please release a “Don’t Stop Believin’ single on iTunes so I can stop re-playing this trailer again and again and again.

Good News: Showtime is said to be close to picking up RONNA AND BEVERLY, a comedy pilot from WEEDS creator Jeni Kohan and the Tim Robbins produced dysfunctional family drama POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS. Bad News: Pilots already officially given their rejection letter include the highly anticipated Matthew Perry/Peter Tolan comedy THE END OF STEVE and the L WORD spinoff THE FARM. [Source]

Good News: Thursday’s ER swan song saw an 82% bump over their original-episode season average. Bad News:Yet still managed to deliver only 14% of the 1993 CHEERS finale, and 24% of the FRIENDS finale.
Good News: According to People.com, Kevin McKidd is anxiously awaiting a McNickname of his very own. Bad News: After last week’s controversial episode, the commenters on People.com have kindly obliged with a long string of suggestions including: McAngry, McScary, McPTSD, McDangerous and McStrangler [Source]

The Good: By starting off the night’s “final ER event” with a retrospective featuring interviews from cast members both new and old, NBC did a remarkable job of ensuring that this TV Addict was in the proper frame of mind for my long awaited return to County General. So much so that by the time the opening notes of the show’s now iconic theme song played, I was pretty much in full-blown nostalgia mode, fighting off the urge during commercial breaks to order seasons 1 thru 10 on Amazon.

Much like the show’s groundbreaking series premiere, the John Wells penned finale offered up a frantic day-in-the-life in the “ER”, which provided every cast member, from stars like Dr. Gates (John Stamos), Sam Taggert (Linda Cardellini) and Dr. Morris (Scott Grimes) to familiar bit players such as Chuney (Laura Ceron), Haleh (Yvette Freeman), Frank (Troy Evans) and Jerry (Abraham Benrubi) with a moment to shine. Especially Frank, who quite possibly had the night’s most memorable moment upon realizing that the young girl standing before him was none other than Dr. Greene’s grown up daughter Rachel who had dropped by the “ER” to apply for a medical internship.

Adding to the nostalgia factor were the return of original series stars Peter Benton (Eriq La Salle), Kerry Weaver (Laura Innes), Susan Lewis (Sherry Stringfield) and Elizabeth Corday (Alex Kingston) who were all on hand to witness John Carter (Noah Wyle) opening the doors of the Joshua Carter Center for Medicine.

The Bad: Perfectly encapsulating why I stopped watching ER years ago were the string of been there done that patients-of-the-week which included special guest star Ernest Borgnine saying farewell to his dying wife, Dr. Gates dressing down irresponsible parents whose lack of supervision at their daughter’s party resulted in a girl in an alcohol induced coma, and a mother of three sons who died while giving birth to the daughter the father had always wanted. Not to mention, the ridiculously predictable final scene, where a mass trauma brought with it a multitude of ambulances allowing for the camera to pan away slowly and show off the show’s unspoken starring character — the hospital itself.

The Ugly: That NBC didn’t end off the night by immediately announcing the launch of ER: THE NEXT GENERATION starring Alexis Bledel’s Dr. Julia Wise. We’re just sayin’

ER Retrospective (8PM NBC)
A look back at the dizzying highs (Dr. Ross rescues a boy caught in a storm drain) and ludicrous lows (anytime one of the Doc’s ventured off on a very special road trip) from ER’s 15 seasons.

ER (9PM NBC, CTV in Canada)
Old friends from County show up to support Carter as he opens a new medical facility for Chicago’s less fortunate. Which is kinda funny when you consider that when ER premiered 15 years ago, County General was the hospital for Chicago’s less fortunate, with anyone who had any money going to CHICAGO HOPE.

SUPERNATURAL (9PM CW)
If Sam and Dean are surprised to discover that their lives as demon hunters are accurately detailed in a series of “Supernatural comic books,” just imagine what their reaction will be when they stumble upon what the online community affectionally calls “Wincest.”

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
CSI (9PM CBS, 8PM CTV in Canada)
Fans of the Jack Black laugher Nacho Libre will enjoy tonight’s episode that has the team investigating the mysterious world of Mexican Wrestling.

ELEVENTH HOUR (10PM CBS)
The first (and our guess only) season concludes when a psychotic woman accuses the FBI’s deputy director of stealing her baby and keeping her forcibly medicated to cover up the crime. Seriously, who watches this show?

Although I have not been a regular watcher of ER for quite some time now (or to be more specific, since the moment a helicopter landed on Dr. Romano), I have found myself spending a inordinate amount of time today reminiscing about NBC’s game-changer of a medical drama.

But rather than wax poetically about my favorite couples, best (Love’s Labor Lost) and worst (Africa story-lines, snooze) moments, and the ways in which ER changed television forever, I thought I would take this opportunity to share the the one reason ER was the very definition of “Must See TV” for me.

Whether it was Lucy getting brutally stabbed by a then relatively unknown David Krumholz, Dr. Greene having to tell an expectant father (pre-THE WEST WING’s Bradley Whitford!) that his wife had just died unexpectedly the operating table, or my all-time favorite ER moment that had an angry Dr. Benton demanding that Dr. Grant (HOUSE’s Omar Epps) be paged to the “ER” only to realize that the patient they were in fact operating on was none other than Dr. Grant himself, who may-or-may-note-have succumbed to the pressure of working at the hospital by throwing himself in front of a train — nobody did jaw dropping surprises like ER. Surprises that thrilled, chilled and worst of all — in this spoiler obsessed culture we live in — have all but disappeared from the television landscape.

After two years of following Obama on the campaign trail, our favorite fictional overachiever has traded in her press credentials for a shiny new lab coat.

Rory Gilmore, or as she’s known outside of Stars Hollow as actress Alexis Bledel will be scrubbing into ER’s two-hour series finale this Thursday playing new intern Dr. Julia Wise and theTVaddict.com has your very first look.

Wondering how you can thank me? <strike>Follow me on Twitter!</strike> Help spread this completely unsubstantiated rumor that Alexis Bledel’s guest spot on ER is actually serving as a backdoor pilot for a spin-off that will reunite Bledel with GILMORE GIRLS co-hort Paris Geller in a new John Wells hospital drama revolving around young interns.

Now that NBC has not-so-subtly let it slip that the guy Carol Hathaway married is returning to ER tonight (Yes, that guy!) we at theTVaddict.com thought we would take this opportunity to ask the following obvious, albeit slightly awkward question.

Will he-who-shall-not-be-named actually play a substantial role in tonight’s episode? Or will NBC take a page from last month’s GREY’S ANATOMY/PRIVATE PRACTICE playbook by only offering up a half-baked scene to ensure we all tune back in next week, and thus, milk these final four episodes for every ad dollar/viewer they can?

Knowing NBC as we do, we’re going to bet on the latter. How about you?

UGLY BETTY (8PM ABC, CityTV in Canada)
Print media continues to take a beating when a Marc and Betty’s YETI assignment reveals a shocking look at Mode’s financial history.

AMERICAN IDOL (8PM FOX, CTV in Canada)
After last night’s train-wreck of an episode would anyone really object if Ryan sent all twelve contestants packing?

30 ROCK (9:30PM NBC, CityTV in Canada)
In yet another installment that will have Gizmodo asking “So What’s Up With the iPhone Love on 30 ROCK?” Liz sends Kenneth into the crazed metropolis to retrieve her lost cell phone.

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
HELL’S KITCHEN (9PM FOX)
The 13 remaining chefs must serve breakfast to 50 young football players and cheerleaders. But on the plus side, how much do cheerleaders eat, really?

THE BLACK LIST: VOLUME TWO (8PM HBO)
Just before we bid adieu to Black History Month, HBO presents a second compilation of interviews with influential black Americans, including film maker Melvin Van Peebles, environmental activist Majora Carter, artist Kara Walker and country-music star Charley Pride.

ER (10PM NBC, CTV in Canada)
If you ask us, Banfield is missing out on a fairly lucrative opportunity when she and her husband look into adoption after in vitro fertilization proves frustrating. Just ask Octomom.

BEING ERICA (10PM SOAPnet)
Or as we’re calling it, BEING ARIEL. Which will all make sense after you listen to tomorrow’s new TV Addict Podcast that we’ll probably get around to posting on Saturday.

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
UGLY BETTY (8PM ABC, CityTV in Canada)
It’s fashion week in New York. Maybe this year, one of those fancy designers will pull Betty aside and give her a few tips… ’cause the girl’s apparently too clueless to look around her and pick them up for herself.

BONES (8PM FOX)
Fanboys and girls will either be laughing or cringing during this case, which takes the team to a comic book/video game convention.

GREY’S ANATOMY (9PM ABC)
The best thing I can say about this show these days is that Addison is on again tonight. But the subplot about Christina doubting the abilities of a renowned surgeon — played by Faye Dunaway, who stole the show when she was a judge on the reality series THE STARLET back in 2005 — has a been there/done that (a million times) feel to it. And that’s exactly what made me quit watching ER a million years ago. Well, that and the episode where the helicopter landed on Dr. Romano

PRIVATE PRACTICE (10PM ABC)
A baby born with both sex organs kicks off a debate about sexual reassignment surgery. Which is interesting… think about it. What if you’d been that baby and your parents chose to lop off the opposite of what you have right now? Discuss amongst yourselves.

NEW & NOTABLE:
SURVIVOR (8PM CBS)
Someone’s gonna call Taj out! And it’s gonna sound something like this: “What’s a former pop star who’s married to a former NFL player need a million bucks for?”

MY NAME IS EARL (8PM NBC)
Crabman’s daddy is… hold the phone. Danny Glover? That’s just great casting.

THE OFFICE (9PM NBC)
Both this and 30 ROCK are reruns tonight, and frankly, we’re kinda glad of it! Thursdays have become a night so crowded with great stuff that if at least two of the shows aren’t airing reruns, some very tough decisions have to be made!

CSI (9PM CBS)
How do we know this isn’t a reality show? Because tonight’s case revolves around a “respected politician.” Yeah, right!

HELL’S KITCHEN (9PM FOX)
It’s steak night in Hell’s Kitchen! And if we know Chef Ramsay, at least one of the contestants will wind up feeling like a big ol’ slab of donkey!

MY HUSBAND IS GAY (9:30PM CBS)
Now we know what you’re thinking, but before you say it we’ve got news for you. It’s not a Sherri Shepherd Biopic. Rather it’s a look at what happens after a man — say, one named Tom — finally tells his wife — let’s just call her Katie — the secret he’s been keeping for years.

ELEVENTH HOUR (10PM CBS)
Words you never, ever wanna hear strung together: Helicopter pilot struck blind midflight. No, that’s just not good.

ER (10PM NBC)
Funniest sentence of the day: “Nikolas and Nadine take on the government.”
Nope, still not the finale. But we’re getting close, as you can tell by the title of this episode, “The Beginning Of The End,” which features the return of original cast member Noah Wyle as Dr. Carter.

BEING ERICA (10PM SOAPnet)
This being SOAPnet and all, it must be a special about ALL MY CHILDREN’s superdiva, Erica Kane, right? Um, no. This is yet another hour of primetime programming that the network build on the notion of viewers being able to watch their daytime shows at night is giving to something other than a soap. Hey, at least it’s not a reality show.
