Just how big of an episode is tonight’s GREY’S ANATOMY? Well, aside from the ominous title “Sleeping Monster” that sees Dr. Miranda Bailey at the center of a CDC investigation surrounding the death of several of her patients, actress Chandra Wilson was kind enough to carve out some time from her very busy shooting schedule to take to the phones and answer some burning questions from theTVaddict.com’s west coast correspondent Courtney Vaudreuil.

But just what did Wilson have to say about Bailey’s tight spot, the secrecy surrounding the upcoming season finale and what the future holds for her character? See for yourself, after the jump.

Right now Bailey is in a tough spot, since it’s been revealed that several of her patients developed post-op infections.  That has professional implications, but how does it affect her on a personal level?
Chandra Wilson: We know historically how much Bailey cares about her patients, so the fact that these are hers that have passed just hurts her to her heart.  But on the flipside of that, of course it doesn’t have anything to do with her whatsoever, because she’s perfect and the procedures went perfectly. [Laughs]  So it’s about whatever the other thing is that could have led to these infections.  The other thing that affects her is the rally of support that she doesn’t feel like she’s receiving from her colleagues.  They are doing just as they should do, which is representing the hospital and being board of directors.  She feels like their past, their friendships should take precedence over the position of the hospital.  She’s having a really hard time with that.
 
Is this storyline something that we’re going to see wrapped up before the end of the season?
We will certainly know the cause to what took the lives of the patients.  But, you know, Bailey doesn’t let anything rest. 
 
I know that there’s not much you can reveal about the finale, but we do know now that a super storm is going to hit the hospital.  Will Bailey have a prominent role in managing the crisis?
Yeah, because the whole hospital has to go into crisis mode at this point, so regardless of what is happening with how she feels about her colleagues and what has happened, everybody kind of has to band together in order to make sure that we’re available to manage any kind of crisis that ends up coming through the emergency room door. 
 
Shonda Rhimes has indicated that there are going to be some shocking moments in the finale, were you shocked when you read the last two scripts?
We’re always shocked!  [Laughs] You never know what’s going on.  We have, of course, the backdrop of the storm, but as is traditional with us in the season finale, lots of other things happen at the same time.  It’ll be a familiar ride for our viewers.
 
If only you could tell us more!
If only…but you really don’t want to know.
 
How are you hoping that your fans react to Bailey’s storyline through the end of the season?
I would hope that they would be the support that she clearly isn’t getting from colleagues! I think they’re going to completely understand why she feels the way she does.  Most people right now are just saying ‘Oh my goodness, we’re really worried for her.’  That’s very refreshing, just to hear how invested people are in how Miranda is.
 
Have you finished filming the finale?
No actually, we’re still kind of in the midst of it.  So, it’s unfolding as we speak.  We still have about another week and a half or so to work. 
 
Do you have any big plans for the summer after you guys break?
No, I haven’t made plans yet – which is weird – cause we’ve been working kind of steadily.  I’m still open to whatever those two months are going to bring.
 
When will you see the first script for next season?
Not ‘til next season.  You think we get prescripts?  What? What are you saying?  What are you talking about?  [Laughs]
 
So you won’t see those until maybe August or September?
Not ‘til the table read.  That’s usually how it goes. 
 
Do you get any input as far as what’s ahead for your character?
Now traditionally, I haven’t asked those questions, because I allow for … I wouldn’t ever want to pin them into ‘Oh but Chandra’s expecting us to do x, y, and z….’  The stories develop kind of how they develop and even though we may have a certain idea at the beginning of the season, the road that we want to take, you know, depending on how chemistries go and how life happens, we end up going in a different direction.  So, I’m the actor who kind of sits back and waits.  And, you know, that hasn’t failed me so far.

After six seasons spent heating up the hallowed hallways of Seattle Grace Hospital, the man who put the Steamy into Mc has decided to exit GREY’S ANATOMY.

According to TVLine, which broke the news earlier in the day, Dane — whose heart was last seen breaking upon watching the love of his life Lexie [Chyler Leigh] pass away following a horrific season finale plane crash — has decided to leave the hit ABC medical drama after six years to pursue other opportunities. But — and this is where all current and future television actors should start taking notes — not before returning for several episodes in an effort to provide proper closure for the show’s loyal and deserving fan base.

A move, which let’s face it, is our not so subtle way of saying that one can only hope that Dane’s carefully calculated and refreshingly fan friendly exit strategy will be something actors take note of in the future. Particularly certain actors who shall remain nameless (Oh, Who are we kidding… Yes we’re talking to you Christopher Meloni, Lisa Edelstein, among many, many others!) who left their long running series’ with absolutely no regard for the loyal fandom that helped line their pocket books with ghastly sums of money for seasons on end. The TV Addict: Suffice it to say, the aftermath of George and Lemon failing to make it down the aisle will be front and center when HART OF DIXIE kicks off its much-anticipated second season this Fall. In typical Lemon fashion, the former bride-to-be will take the implosion of her relationship with George as a sign that it’s time for her to grow up, move out of her father Brick’s house and get her very first paying job at of all places the Rammer Jammer! And speaking of Bluebell’s most infamous watering hole, expect Wade to waste little time in making his intentions with Zoe clear, who sadly, will be forced to go back to square one in terms of assimilating herself into the tight-knit town now that all of her progress has been for naught following her presumed role as “home-wrecker” in the destruction of George and Lemon’s happily ever after.

Would love some news on my favorite fictional family, the Bravermans. — Allie
The TV Addict: Since TVGuide.com has already let it slip that eldest daughter Haddie will very soon be leaving the nest for College, you may be pleased to discover that the Bravermans are adding another bundle of joy to their brood. No, Adam and Kristina will not be having another child, but rather will consider giving Max a friend of the four-legged variety! Which should certainly add some fun to PARENTHOOD’s second episode back next.

Any ida how showrunner Shonda Rhimes plans on filling the void left by Lexie and Teddy’s GREY’S ANATOMY exit? — Rachel
The TV Addict: Indeed we do. Unfortunately, it spells bad news for fans hoping Cristina might replace Teddy (Kim Raver) as the hospital’s hotshot heart surgeon. Or at least that’s our takeaway from learning about the recent addition of Mel Barnett, a talented Doc hoping to escape the Florida sunshine for Seattle whose speciality is none other than Cardiothoracic Surgery. [Cue sad trombone in 3… 2… 1…]

Just how extreme is this OFFICE makeover we’ve been hearing so much about? — Bran
The TV Addict: Pretty extreme. In fact, word on the street is that THE OFFICE is already casting about for their B.J. Novak replacement. Enter “Pete,” Dunder Mifflin’s newest low man on the totem pole. Think Ryan, circa season one, but 85% less douchey and 150% more flirty. Particularly with cute baristas he spies during his frequent office coffee runs.

Finally had the chance to check out ARROW during its preview screening at Comic Con last night. LOVED IT! But curious if there are any plans to introduce any other DC super-heroes into the mix? — Jake
The TV Addict: While we have no doubt that Stephen Amell’s Arrow will eventually come face to face with some familiar friends and foes, that kind of super-stunt casting will more than likely be saved until the show has found its own footing. Case in point, theTVaddict.com has just learned that ARROW’s upcoming second episode will see go mano-a-mano with a beautiful Asian assassin named Wen who is sent after Laurel as retribution for prosecuting a businessman whose cushy relationship with the mob has become a blight on Starling City’s not so sterling reputation.

Before I jump back on the SMASH bandwagon I’m going to need assurances that Ellis really is gone? — Jen
The TV Addict: While we can’t promise that we’ve seen the last of the asinine assistant, we can assure you that Eileen has a new assistant this year in the form of a 60-year old sweetie named Liz. Read into that what you will.

Any intel on what’s in store for our favorite boys and girls of ROOKIE BLUE? — Davey
The TV Addict: Despite barely hitting the halfway mark of ROOKIE BLUE’s fantastic third season, the show is already prepping for a fourth. Enter Chloe and Marlo, two officers with little in common except for the fact that they will complicate the lives of Dov, Andy and Gail! Gail in particular, who we hear be forced to pay the price for some incredibly bad decisions she makes during the show’s upcoming first ever cliffhanger-style finale.

FALLING SKIES Scoop Please! — Miller
The TV Addict: Appropriately titled “Homecoming,” Sunday’s episode will mark the rescue of Jessy Schram’s Karen from the Skitters. More importantly still, it will also mark a shocking turning point in Ben’s story arc, who will be forced to choose sides after a heart-to-heart with fellow harnessee Karen.

On Tuesday June 26th, “The Thirst Project” — a remarkable organization whose singular goal is to conquer the global water crisis one fresh-water well at a time — held its third annual gala in Los Angeles.

The gala was hosted by Pauley Perrette (NCIS) and Kirsten Vangsness (CRIMINAL MINDS) as they honored Chyler Leigh (GREY’S ANATOMY) and producer Nathan West.  Among the evening’s special guests were: Jason Ritter (PARENTHOOD), Sarah Drew (GREY’S ANATOMY), Seychelle Gabriel (FALLING SKIES), Matthew Fahey (AWKWARD.), Cassie Scerbo (MAKE IT OR BREAK IT), Misha Crosby (THE LYING GAME), Dylan Riley Snyder (KICKIN IT), Dale Godboldo (“Thor”), Yuri Lowenthal and Tara Platt (BEN 10: ULTIMATE ALIEN), Ryan Lee (“Super 8”), Scott Nevins (THE SMOKING GUN PRESENTS), and actress Felicity Wren.

Still reeling from last night’s uber-intense GREY’S ANATOMY season finale that left many of your favorite character’s lives “hanging in the balance” following one of the most memorable plane crashes since the fateful day Oceanic Flight 815 took flight? This TV Addict certainly is, but probably not for the reasons you might think. For as it turns out, we have found ourselves spending the better part of the day not so much mourning the death of [Spoiler Alert!] Lexie Grey, but rather the loss of what could have been a far more shocking conclusion had ABC put in a little more effort.

But before we get to that, let’s first take a moment to commend showrunner Shonda Rhimes and Co. for one helluva season. Not only did the GREY’S ANATOMY writing staff do a marvellous job of crafting a season under the very difficult circumstance that is not knowing which of your cast members will be returning the following year, they managed to do so while building in an organic and believable exit for any cast member should they have opted not to return.

Our issue, was that last night’s send off could have been that much more thrilling had ABC proactively decided to formulate a plan to keep a lid on the status of the contract renegotiations for cast members Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, Sandra Oh, Justin Chambers, James Pickens, Jr. and Chandra Wilson. Which is to say, rather than needlessly allow the news to leak mere weeks ago that the original series stars had all inked new 2-year deals to return to the show — and in the process eviscerate much of the suspense surrounding the finale — the season could have ended off on a far more ambiguous, not to mention compelling note. A horrifying and heartbreaking one that would have not just kept GREY’S ANATOMY on the tip of every fan’s tongues all summer long, but helped to create the kind of marketable September event that has been missing from Network television since the heydays of “Who Shot J.R.?” (Or, for our slightly younger readers, “Who Shot Mr. Burns?”). We’re just sayin’

Not so lucky of course were GCB, SCANDAL, HAPPY ENDINGS, LAST MAN STANDING, DON’T TRUST THE B—-, MISSING, BODY OF PROOF, PRIVATE PRACTICE and THE RIVER. All of which it appears will have to wait until closer to ABC’s UpFront announcement next Tuesday May 15th to find out their fates. So say tuned.

Think the recent scoop surrounding a “huge cliffhanger” and a “shell-shocked table read” has prepared your for GREY’S ANATOMY’s much anticipated May 17th finale? Think again! For as it turns out, showrunner Shonda Rhimes has more than a few surprises up her sleeve prior to the show’s season ending swan song. Case in point, the penultimate May 10th episode entitled “Migration,” which according to ABC’s press release sees the residents determining their future by making their final decisions regarding their post residency positions, Mark admitting to Derek that he is torn between his love for Lexie and the fact that Julia can give him everything he ever wanted, Ben plan something extra special or Bailey who is too preoccupied with her work, Arizona encourage her childhood friend Nick to have surgery, while a couple on their third honeymoon come to the hospital complaining of mysterious symptoms.
