What’s more, if you didn’t enjoy our recent one-on-one with Leila Gerstein, you’re really not going to like the one teensy little tidbit of information that we left out of the piece that alludes to the fact that mathematically speaking, one of your favorite DIXIE denizens is all but guaranteed to end the season with a broken heart. Revealed Gerstein, “Between Zoe, Lemon, Wade, George and Lavon there are an uneven number of boys and girls and someone is going to be left out in the cold. I know that.”

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner I’m hoping you can give me some heartwarming news for those of us still rooting for Mark and Lexie on GREY’S ANATOMY. — Brenda
The TV Addict: Mark and Lexie fans will be happy to know that the two genetically-blessed doctors will be spending the most romantic day of the year together. Slightly less exciting is what they’ll be doing on Valentine’s day, which is babysitting for Meredith/Derek and Arizonz/Callie’s respective babies!

The TV Addict: As much as we would love to alleviate your fears, all we can really say on the subject is that Julia and Joel will be welcoming a new face into their home prior to the end of PARENTHOOD’s fantastic third season. Emphasis on the ambiguity of said aforementioned “new face” that — much to our chagrin — in no way guarantees that we’re talking about Zoe’s baby.

Any teasers about what to expect from the next week or two of my favorite new show, DOWNTON ABBEY? — Jack
The TV Addict: Oh, Jack, trust us when we say the next few episodes are game changers in every sense of the word. Get ready to put a face to a name from the past who will shake up everyone upstairs while the downstairs crew will be rocked when a twist of fate brings good news and bad for everyone’s favorite maid and her lame-legged beau. In other news, the war ends (no spoilers as to who wins!), Thomas’ shady behavior bites him in the butt and death pays a visit to the Abbey. As for Matthew and Mary? When Madsen isn’t busy hunting down Johnny McKee — a former Rock inmate notorious for chemically induced killings — more details surrounding her mysterious grandfather are expected to emerge on the February 20th episode of ALCATRAZ. Update: We stand corrected! In response to this just posted edition of “Ask the Addict,” ALCATRAZ creator Bryan Wynbrandt has kindly informed us via Twitter that it’s actually this weeks episode that will delve deeply into Rebecca’s grandfather’s past. Is there any truth to the rumor that Damon is going to cheat on Elena in an upcoming episode of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES? — Jessica
The TV Addict: Suffice it to say, truth is in the eye of the beholder. Which is to say, what Damon might or might not have done really depends on your interpretation of the following sentence parsed from the February 15th episode of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: “Elena learns about a startling indiscretion by Damon.”

The TV Addict: If by “anything,” you mean a first look at Rachel Berry’s adoptive parents Hiram (Jeff Goldblum) and Leroy (Brian Stokes Mitchell) who will play a pivotal role in GLEE’s February 14th Valentine’s Day themed episode appropriately titled “Heart,” well then yes.

Ever wonder what life might be like if Meredith Grey’s mother never got Alzheimer’s and stayed happily married to her father? Or if Derek had never met Meredith in a bar and stuck with Addison? What if Bailey had remained as spineless as she was as an intern? Paul Lee is really excited about midseason.
Using the equivalent of the “Super Bowl for woman” that is the upcoming February 26th Oscar telecast as a launch pad, ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee kicked off this morning’s TCA Executive Session by touting his Network’s upcoming midseason schedule including the February 7th premiere of THE RIVER (“A really extraordinary show”), the March 4th premiere of GCB (“A really fun show brought to us by Darren Star”), the March 15th premiere of MISSING (“Marking the return of Ashley Judd to primetime”), the April 5th premiere of SCANDAL (“It’s so sticky, and it’s really sexy”) and the April 11th premiere of DON’T TRUST THE B—- IN APARTMENT 23 (“It’s one of my favorite comedies of the year”). The latter of which will get the plum post-MODERN FAMILY time slot when HAPPY ENDINGS finishes out its second season.

ABC had one helluva fall!
In an effort to ensure his excitement about his Network’s midseason lineup didn’t completely overshadow the success of ABC’s fall one, Lee singled out REVENGE and ONCE UPON A TIME as two of the strongest shows of the fall. Said Lee, “I think [Creator] Mike Kelley is doing a fabulous job with REVENGE, I adore that show. And ONCE UPON A TIME came back with a great number… is a really inventive show and [Creators] Adam and Eddie are doing a fabulous job with that show.” Also of note was Lee’s belief — after sidestepping the issue of the original cast member’s still up-in-the-air contracts, that is — in the resurgent GREY’S ANATOMY. “GREY’s came roaring back. It’s creatively still at the top of its form and Shonda [Creator Shonda Rhimes] has a vision like nobody else,” said Lee. “She knows what she’s doing, and she knows where she’s going. We’ve heard her vision, not just for the end of this season, but for beyond, and it’s really, really strong. I’m feeling very good about the show.”

COUGAR TOWN still has a home on ABC.
Not only does Lee promise that he’s a big fan of creator Bill Lawrence’s penchant for pot-stirring (“I always say to my showrunners, take a page out of Bill Lawrence’s book because he does such a great job of getting a passionate audience around a show.”), he promised that when COUGAR TOWN does launch (Tentatively schedule for March), the network will promote the show (“Well, the reality is COUGAR TOWN is having one of their best seasons to date and I think you’ll find that, when we launch it, it will bring a big strong message that we love the show.”) More interesting still Lee could one day foresee a dream situation of young comedy block featuring COUGAR TOWN, HAPPY ENDING and APT 23.

Paul Lee is still pretending WORK IT and PAN AM have futures.
Although Paul Lee gets serious points for kicking off this morning’s Executive Session by asking a roomful of tired critics what they really thought of WORK IT, the ABC Entertainment President loses some by pretending the not-so-well received show actually has a future, “I think it was right in the middle there,” said Lee referring to WORK IT’s ratings. “We’ll see where it goes in the next few weeks,” Along those same lines was his hesitancy to outright proclaims PAN AM dead on arrival, claiming that the show will run original episodes through February and that no decision has been made about the show’s future.

GENERAL HOSPITAL is not dead yet.
Despite the impending arrival of Katie Couric’s Fall 2012 chat fest, Lee isn’t ready to take GENERAL HOSPITAL off life support just yet. “I don’t know whether we’re going to make a decision on that. I’ve come in, sort of, very recently into that whole decision, so we’ll see. We will have to make a decision at some point,” said Lee. “I have to say, I started my life in soap operas. My first job was a second assistant director on a Brazilian soap at 7 o’clock. Not the greatest soap ever made, but I loved it. In Rio. And then I worked on soaps in the U.K., and I’m a fan of GENERAL HOSPITAL, but we have not made a decision, and don’t really have a time frame for it either.

Rumor has it that tonight’s episode of GREY’S ANATOMY is one of those classic sob-fests. True or false? — Amy
The TV Addict: Short Answer: True. Long Answer: Based on tonight’s tear-jerker of a mid-season finale that features a very unexpected outcome to Meredith and Derek’s adoption woes, multiple character deaths, not to mention an ending that will leave fans on the edge of their seat as they ask themselves what on earth is going to happen next, our working theory is that Showrunner Shonda Rhimes must be some sort of secret investor in a Kleenex company. Which is our not so subtle way of saying that there will be tears… for a variety of different characters.

Having really enjoyed the way in which you broke the news last week that “Belle” would be dropping by ONCE UPON A TIME I’m hoping I might implore you to include some sort of similar tease in this week’s column? — Monica
The TV Addict: Flattery will get you everywhere, including a yes to your request… assuming of course you can decipher the following tease that has the next batch of Fairytale characters scheduled to drop by Storybrooke Maine involved with what many might consider the precursor to Willy Wonka. Read into that what you will.

Now that young Henry has successfully managed to bring Emma Swan back to town, any clue as to when the residents on ONCE UPON A TIME might start to get their memories back? — Bryan
The TV Addict: According to sources, at least one resident of Storybrooke Maine will start to regain his (or her!) memories before the show goes on its holiday hiatus.

Completely didn’t expect the return of the Ice Truck Killer on Sunday’s episode of DEXTER? Anything you can spill about what we can expect next? — Bill
The TV Addict: Much like any episode of DEXTER, there will be blood. Yet unlike just any episode, the blood that will be spilled during Sunday’s fantastic instalment of the hit Showtime series will be of the very familiar variety. Particularly if you’re a fan of the season featuring the Trinity Killer!

The only thing I’m loving more than newcomer Tessa Altman (Jane Levy) on SUBURGATORY is the obvious romance blossoming between parents George (Jeremy Sisto) and Dallas (Cheryl Hines). Am I crazy? Is there any hope for these two? — Mandi
The TV Addict: While we sure as heck aren’t about to dip into the current mental capacity of a reader addicted to television (As if we’re one to judge!), or if Tessa and Dalia will soon be living under one roof akin to some sort of bizarro version of THE BRADY BUNCH, we can tell you that the always ugly “D” word (That’s divorce, in case you were wondering) will soon be knocking on the beautifully renovated door of two unlucky SUBURGATORY residents.

Anything you can tease about tonight’s fall finale of THE SECRET CIRLCE? — Allison
The TV Addict: You mean aside from the fact that November 10th seems a wee bit early for a fall finale? How’s this: Coming to Cassie’s rescue tonight will be two men in shining armor so to speak. And while one of her heroes is somewhat predictable, the other may surprise fans as Jake’s nefarious plan comes to light. Think “black” and you’ll be probably have an inkling of an answer!

Despite the fact that her high school horrors are a little too reminiscent of my own, I love Sue Heck. Which is why I was hoping you might be able to share a detail or two on one is coming up next for my favorite fictional character? — Jessica
The TV Addict: As self-proclaimed president of the Sue Heck fan club, we’ve got some very good news for you. Sue will very-soon become Captain of a cheerleading squad. Unfortunately, in typical Sue Heck fashion, the Wrestlerettes will be a cheerleading squad she’s concocted for the specific purpose of cheering on her latest crush!

Any chance you have some scoop on the comings and goings in my favorite TV town of Pawnee. — David
The TV Addict: Always the giver, PARKS AND RECREATION’s Valentine’s Day-themed episode will find Leslie Knope putting her considerable political muscle behind yet another worthy cause. That cause? Finding best friend Ann Perkins a boyfriend at the first annual Parks Department Single’s Dance. Cue hilarity that may-or-may-not end with Ron Swanson dressed as a real-life Cupid and an unexpected romantic spark between to staffers fans never in a million years would have put together.

Not a question, but more of a statement. This week has been slightly less funny with MODERN FAMILY on hiatus. — Rachel

Which is why we thought we’d try out best to help turn your frown upside-down by offering up a first look at the show’s November 23 episode that will see current Book of Mormon Broadway star Josh Gad drop by as an old friend of Phils. Bonus points for any reader who takes to the comments below to name the show in which Ty Burrell and Josh Gad starred in together prior to their current successes.

As regular readers of theTVaddict.com can attest to, we’ll always have a special place in our heart for any actor even remotely associated with EVERWOOD. So it probably should come as no surprise that when recently given the opportunity to chat one-on-one with GREY’S ANATOMY’s newest Chief Resident, we jumped at the chance. But just what did Sarah Drew spill the challenges her character will face this upcoming season and more importantly, whether or not this year will finally be the year Dr. April Kepner goes where Dr. April Kepner has never gone before? Find out for yourself after the jump.

Was there any serious talk about incorporating your real-life pregnancy into the show this season?
Sarah Drew: Not really. For a split second the writers thought that they might use it — have April get pregnant on the first try, carry it and then put it up for adoption — but they had just done a similar story with Sloan and his daughter. Plus, the fact that my character is a virgin is such a special thing, they really wanted to take their time with it. They didn’t want to just knock April up and get her pregnant, they want to leave room to really tell that story. Every year they tell me this is the year and then it doesn’t happen! Which I’m actually okay with because I also really wanted them to take their time with April losing her virginity because it’s so interesting to keep the character a virgin. After-all, once you lose it, there’s no going back.

Have you gotten any advice about how to hide your pregnancy during shooting?
I’m the fifth actress who has gotten pregnant on the show, so we’ve really all become such experts at hiding it on TV. That said, Chyler Leigh, Jessica Capshaw, Ellen Pompeo, they’ve all given such great advice about everything from pregnancy to breast feeding.

Is the behind-the-scenes tone of the set at all different this season with so much up in the air in terms of which of the original cast members (Ie. Patrick Dempsey, Ellen Pompeo, Sandra Oh etc.) may not return next season?
I think we’re all just sort of trying to just love the moment we’re in right now. I’m just grateful for having a job right now. I really hope the show continues and I really hope we keep all of our people, I would hate to see any one of them go. But you never know, so I guess I’m a little nervous about it but at the same time I trust that people are going to make decisions.

On a happier note, what excitement is in store for April the season?
Well, what I know so far is that I’ve been very very busy for the first three episodes. the new job as Chief Resident is really taking its toll on April. She’s working her tail off but nobody’s paying any attention to her and nobody’s taking her seriously, and really, we all saw that coming because nobody really wanted her to be Chief Resident anyway. So its going to be an uphill battle for her.

With apologies in advance for the awkward nature of this question, we can’t help but wonder, if given the choice, which of your Seattle Grace co-workers would you like to see April lost her virginity to?
You know my husband is sitting right here! [Laughs] But honestly I don’t know because I think that I’m not sure that anyone really works with April who is already on the show. It would be really interesting to have the bad boy Alex and the good girl April and kind of see how that works out but at the same time I would kind of find it hard to believe. I think she needs to find someone who has a similar kind of mentality and outlook on love. Although, it would probably make for a more interesting storyline if it were two total opposites finding their way to one another, but I don’t know. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Any word on how Colin Hanks is going to fit into the new season of DEXTER? — Dave
The TV Addict: Words, we’ve got plenty. What’s more, they’re not just a random collection of ambiguous ones strung together in a desperate attempt to leave readers with the impression we know far more about the upcoming sixth season of DEXTER than we actually do. Rather, they’re from the former good guy himself, Colin Hanks, who was kind enough to make up for interrupting our one-on-one with HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER’s Jason Segel during last week’s CBS/CW/Showtime Party by dropping a few hints about what fans can expect from his character. “Here’s the problem. So much of the show is a secret that they’ve sort of engrained in me to not ruin the secret and when you sign a legal binding document it sort of makes you not want to do that. What I can say is that my character Travis restores ancient artifacts and he has a relationship with a Professor Gellar that’s played by Eddie Olmos,” said Hanks, of his character who is sprinkled in throughout the season. “It’s amazing and I want to tell the world about it but I can’t. Here’s the one thing I can say, there are a few instances this season where we are doing things that the show has never done before that will make all the DEXTER-heads flip out!”

Is there any truth to the rumor that GLEE is going back to its first season roots this year? — Drew
The TV Addict: Indeed there is. So much so that fans will be thrilled to discover that when GLEE does return for its much-anticipated third season this Tuesday September 20th at 8PM on FOX (Global TV in Canada), it will do so in a very familiar fashion. Teased star Lea Michele during last week’s FOX TCA Party, “This is the only top secret information that I can give you. I was really hoping that in this upcoming season I would get no slushies, no mess and whatever and then… like page two of script one I’m already a mess! Obviously they’re doing it on the first script because we’re coming back from the break happy and well rested. Had they put that in mid season we all would definitely have said no, I’m not looking forward to that.”

This DEGRASSI addict needs to know if HIGHLAND GARDENS is coming to the United States? — Cindy
The TV Addict: According to our highly placed — and we should mention on the off chance he or she is reading this — super awesome source at Epitome Pictures (The company behind both DEGRASSI and HIGHLAND GARDENS) no deal has yet been struck for a US Network to carry the Canadian series. As such, we feel that now is as good a time as any — again, on the off chance our highly placed source is reading this — to humbly suggest that Epitome look towards the CW, a channel which is in desperate need for some addictive, not to mention, affordable summer programming come 2012.

Any idea what Dan Scott is doing back in ONE TREE HILL? — Stephanie
The TV Addict: Not really. Of course if we were a betting man, which by the way we’re not, we’d be putting down a sizeable junk of our non-existent blogging riches on Dan Scott not surviving the season. Don’t forget, you heard that here first.

Any clue as to how Marshall and Lilly will deal with being expectant parents on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER this season? — Bianca
The TV Addict: Since Marshall and Lilly’s baby isn’t scheduled to arrive until May sweeps, we’re not gonna lie, we got nothing. Except to reveal how Marshall’s portrayer Jason Segel feels about the matter. “The thing I’m most nervous about are these poor actor babies who are going to have to be on set with me because I’m not good with kids at all,” said Segel. “Babies are terrified of me, I’m gigantic and kids are really scared!”

From the sex of the baby, to whether or not Booth and Brennan are going to live together, November 3rd is far too long to wait for BONES to return. Help me TV Addict, you’re my only hope! — Allie
The TV Addict: Okay, here’s the thing. Knowing full well how desperate BONES fans are for even the teensiest morsel of information with regards to their favorite couple (Yes, we said it, actual, honest-to-goodness couple. Finally!) our number one mission at the recent FOX TCA Party was to corner anyone even remotely related to BONES and pepper them with questions. That’s the good news. The bad news is that creator Hart Hanson has his cast trained incredibly well, to the point that the only thing the usually talkative Michaela Conlin (Angela) would spill is that Booth and Brennan’s living situation will be made abundantly clear in the show’s first episode back. What’s more, she knows the sex but isn’t clear on the name and jokingly referred to the baby by the famous androgynous fictional SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE character, “Pat,” when asked what name she’d give the baby if given the choice!

BONES scoop please!!! — Melissa
The TV Addict: Are you a fan of cryptic messages that could mean practically anything? If so, you’re really going to appreciate the incredibly ambiguous tease that creator Hart Hanson gave us as he held court amidst a gaggle of reporters during the recent Fox TCA Party, “The first scene shot is going to amaze people, the show looks different.” Read into that what you will.

Although much has been made about Sarah’s personal life when it comes to the new season of PARENTHOOD, very little has been discussed with regards to her professional one. Is it safe to assume that her career as a writer will continue? — Raquel
The TV Addict: While it is in fact safe to assume that Sarah’s success as a scribe will continue… it will do so at a glacial pace. According to Lauren Graham during a recent one-on-one with the TV Addict. “I’m interested in kind of the process and seeing Sarah grow but because it’s an artistic thing it shouldn’t have any giant leaps and bounds.”

Literally cannot wait for the return of PARKS AND RECREATION, any scoop? — Michael
The TV Addict: Assuming of course you’re a fan of Rob Lowe’s character Chris, prepare for your jaw to quite literally (see how we did that) hit the floor. Why you ask? Well, in a nutshell, Chris Traeger is about to make his ideal love connection. Now, where the shocking part comes in is said aforementioned connection will be made by none other than the soon-to-be introduced daughter of a government worker we’ve come to know and love.

Any hint as to who April might lose her virginity to on GREY’S ANATOMY this season? — Amy
The TV Addict: Funnily enough, we posed that very question to April’s portrayer, the delightful Sarah Drew at ABC’s recent TCA Cocktail Party. And while she was, not surprisingly thank-you-very-much spoiler Nazi Shonda Rhimes, incredibly tight-lipped on who, when and even if it will even happen this season, the glowing mother-to-be did let us in on one little secret: Just who she’d like to see April lose it to! “It would be interesting to have the bad boy Alex and the good girl April and kind of see how that worked out,” admitted Sarah Drew after jokingly pointing out how awkward it was to talk about this very touchy subject matter with her real-life husband sitting right next to her. “But at the same time I would kind of find that hard to believe. I think April needs to find someone who has a similar kind of mentality and outlook on life. Although it would probably make for an interesting storyline, total opposites finding their way to one another, but I don’t know.”

Dear Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, Chandra Wilson, Sandra Oh, Justin Chambers and James Pickens Jr.,

As you may or may-not-have-noticed during your recent trips up and down the red carpet, or when sitting down to interviews with intrepid journalists of both the print and digital variety, there is one question at the forefront of everybody’s mind. That question: Is this your last season on GREY’S ANATOMY?

Suffice it to say, it has been a little less than three weeks since GREY'S ANATOMY ended its season and we've already had our fill of headlines touting that "[Insert name of your favorite GREY'S ANATOMY star here] is leaving the show!” What’s more, after a string of insanely abrupt exits by big name like Christopher Meloni (LAW & ORDER: SVU), Lisa Edelstein (HOUSE) and most recently of all, Laurence Fishburne (CSI), fans — also known as those little people responsible for the multitude of zeros at the end of your paycheck — deserves the opportunity for their showrunner Shonda Rhimes to craft a proper and fond farewell.

THE GOOD WIFE
If THE GOOD WIFE’s first season was better than expected — and it was — it’s second could be described as downright phenomenal. What started as a cross between a “ripped from the headlines” procedural and a messy melodrama has morphed into a complex, surprising, and densely-plotted tale of betrayal and politics. Now that Peter and Kalinda’s shocking past has been exposed, expect fireworks as this storyline comes to a head. This being THE GOOD WIFE, it’s probably best not to try and guess what the writers will pull out of their bag of tricks, but we suspect the finale will provide Julianna Margulies with even more material to add to her Emmy reel. Airs Tuesday May 17th at 10PM on CBS (Global TV in Canada)

THE OFFICE
Michael Scott may be gone, but the folks at NBC desperately want to make sure viewers keep showing up at THE OFFICE. With that in mind, they’re staffing Dunder-Mifflin Sabre with a roster of guest stars including Will Arnett, Ray Romano, James Spader, Catherine Tate and Jim Carrey. Oh, and did we mention that Ricky Gervais returns as David Brent? Sure, that many celebs shuffling through is often the very definition of desperation (see also: WILL & GRACE), but there’s also a big question waiting to be answered: Who will wind up taking over THE OFFICE… and how will viewers react? Airs Thursday May 19th at 9PM on NBC (Global TV in Canada)
 
GREY’S ANATOMY
George being hit by a bus. A shooter taking aim at Seattle Grace’s surgeons. Yup, the show’s head honcho, Shonda Rhimes, has constructed a few jawdroppers over the years. Rumor has it this year’s finale will focus less on the melo and more on the dramatic, a fitting end to a season which saw the characters grow and change in reaction to last year’s terrifying finale. As fans of cliffhangers know well, sometimes, bigger is better… and sometimes, simple can be extremely complex. It’s a lot easier to get people talking by firing a gun than by undermining a relationship, but Rhimes has proven a master at both. Airs Thursday May 19th at 9PM on ABC (CTV in Canada at 7PM)

SUPERNATURAL
Let’s face it: With mastermind Eric Kripke gone and even loyal fans sceptically asking “How do you top the apocalypse?”, a lot of folks entered this season with a bit of trepidation. Yet what emerged was a fantastic season that saw the show taking the kind of chances few would dare. One could almost hear the folks behind the cameras playing the ultimate game of “what if?”. (“Hey, what if we did a western?”) As a result, what many expected to be the show’s final season proved one of its best and earned the Winchester boys a renewal. In other words: Tear down that wall in Sam’s head, bring on the battling angels and let’s get this cliffhanger started! After all, we need something to chat about this summer! Airs Friday May 20th at 8PM on the CW (2 Hours)

Attention GREY’S ANATOMY fans. For those of you who have been feverishly scratching your head as to whether or not the upcoming seventh season finale entitled “Unaccompanied Minor” refers to the end of Meredith and Derek’s baby woes… keep wondering!
