Mark your calendar
When we last left Dexter Morgan, he was covered in a pool of you-know-whose blood. What happens next, well, that’s the good news. Turns out, unlike previous years where fans had to wait until late September or early October for the return of America’s favorite serial killer, DEXTER’s fifth season is scheduled to premiere on September 26th. Which means we’re just a little over a month away from learning what the heck Dexter was thinking when he [Spoiler Alert!] confessed to Rita’s murder! Correction: Was just informed DEXTER Season Five will be premiering on September 26th. D’oh!

Deal Another Day
Despite most fans and critics assertion that WEEDS’ best days are behind them, the continuing adventures of the Botwin clan still remains one of our favorite shows. Which is why we were thrilled that executive producer Victoria Morrow, who was on hand at San Diego Comic Con yesterday to discuss the show, unequivocally answered, “No!” when pressed by a fan as to whether or not this upcoming season (that kicks off August 16) will be the series’ last.

Axe to the Future
From the department of there is not such thing as too much Bruce Campbell comes the surprise announcement that has USA has finally green-lit a one-time two-hour prequel revolving around Campbell’s Sam Axe. Teased creator Matt Nix, “You will see how Sam Axe ended up retiring in Miami, learn a little more about the guy, and we get to see Sam Axe in action with guns.” Added Campbell, “I have to say that USA finally got their sh– together.”

FRINGE in 3D! At least if co-creator J.J. Abrams has anything to say about it. Turns out, the auteur is on “Team TV Addict’ when it comes to the technology that Hollywood executives can’t seem to get enough of. “The thing that drives me crazy about 3-D is that when you put on the glasses, everything seems dim,” said Abrams during Entertainment Weekly’s Visionaries panel. “I’m not totally on board yet.” Can we get an “Amen Brotha!”

Contrary to what FOX News may have led you to believe, there is more to Canada than socialized medicine and poutine (Poutine for the uninitiated being a bizarre concoction of french fries, cheese curds and gravy that — trust us — tastes a helluva lot better than it looks). Which is why in celebration of Canada’s 143rd birthday today, we thought we’d take the opportunity to remind our friends south of the 49th parallel of some of the very important contributions the Great White North has made to the world of television.

Agonizing sexual tension
Admittedly, probably not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Canada. That said, you probably had no idea that two of television’s most celebrated (or reviled, depending on your point of view) will-they-or-won’t-they’s are intrinsically Canadian. Not only do CASTLE stars Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic hail from Edmonton and Hamilton respectively, the long and drawn out courtship between BONES’ Booth and Brennan is the brainchild of none other than Hart Hanson, a University of Toronto educated writer/producer who first made a name for himself on some of Canada’s most iconic series including the likes of READY OR NOT, ROAD TO AVONLEA and TRADERS.

True Love
What do Bill Compton, Eric Northman and Damon and Stefan Salvatore all have in common? Well, aside from that pesky aversion to the sun and predilection for human blood — the object of all of their affections just so happen to be two of Canada’s most popular exports: Sookie Stackhouse played by Winnipeg born Anna Paquin and Elena Gilbert brought to life by Toronto’s very-own Nina Dobrev.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that J.J. Abrams has cast Pacey, err… Joshua Jackson as one of the leads in his new FOX Drama FRINGE. Jackson will play a member of a unit investigating sci-fi mysteries. And let’s face it, after the Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes kidnapping marriage, the tragic death of Michelle Williams’ ex Heath Ledger and the non-existent career of James Van Der Beek, it’s about time us DAWSON’S CREEK fans got some good news.

The 10 million dollar two-hour pilot is about to start shooting in the TV Addict’s hometown of Toronto Canada. Needless to say, the TV addict will hopefully be on the set stalking, err… reporting soon.
