With tonight’s episode of ONE TREE HILL continuing the countdown to the season finale, we thought now might be as good a time as any to take a trip down memory lane with select members of the cast. Out of an astounding 176 episodes, do actors Sophia Bush, Paul Johansson, James Lafferty, Stephen Colletti or Lee Norris have a favorite? Find out for yourself, after the jump.

Sophia Bush [Brooke Davis]
“It’s a tie between 912 and 913. I got to helm 912 as a director and it was an incredibly fulfilling experiences for me, one of the best of last year and the way that it ended with my crew was just really memorable and special for me. And 913 [the upcoming series finale] is everything I hoped it would be. We wrapped up the show in a way that just melts your heart.”

James Lafferty [Nathan Scott]
“My favorite episode from the run of the show has got to be the episode where we, the Ravens, win the State Championship. We went to Raleigh Durham, we shot at the RBC Center where NC State plays and it was two hard long gruelling days of basketball choreography. At the end of it in the story we win the State Championship and it just felt like an amazing payoff for the characters and through all the hard work that we did the episode was really a great pay off for all of us as actors because we put a lot of blood sweat and tears into that one and it came out beautifully.”

Paul Johansson [Dan Scott]
“I think one of my favorite episodes has to be… Oh God, there are so many popping in my head right now! I want to say the shooting episode, but everybody says that! I want to say the one where Dan gets a heart that is eaten by the dog! I want to say the one’s where I was fighting with Deb where I was glueing a phone to her ear, there are so many fun ones for me! But, it might be this season, midseason this year there are a couple of great episodes, just beautifully written and poignant. This year Mark [Creator Mark Schwahn] really outdid himself.”

Stephen Colletti [Chase Adams]
“Last season there was an episode with a baseball game where these bits of stories are hitting the actors and you don’t know exactly what is happening but they seem dramatic and in the end everything ties together. Basically we kind of jumped around and played with time a lot and I liked that, how you’re kind of basically twisting throughout the entire episode, I thought that was a fun style. Well, that and pretty much every season premiere and every season finale… except for this last season premiere because I had to spend a lot of time in my underwear with my shirt off and I was glad to get that one out of the way.

Lee Norris [Marvin 'Mouth' McFadden]
My favorite episode is the school shooting episode from season three. We spent a lot of time on it and it’s my favorite because it didn’t just entertain, it informed as well.

Is ONE TREE HILL looking to go out with a bang or a pretty wrapped bow as it ends its 9th season? From all indications from the two-minute teaser which jump-starts this final season, and from the cryptic remarks of the cast and creator, fans better be prepared to break out the Kleenex. The body under a white sheet in the morgue make be the best clue, but given the number of tears shed at a special sneak peek screening of ONE TREE HILL’s 9th season opener by the cast last week, one of the show’s beloved characters is not going to make it through the season.

It was both a joyful reunion and a night of misty-eyes as the cast of ONE TREE HILL watched the screening with fans and talked afterwards about some of their favorite memories. In fact, one fan was so choked up by how much the show touched her heart that she was unable to speak and it prompted star Sophia Bush to rush to her aid with a handy tissue. (Fortunately, co-star Shantal VanSanten had the foresight to bring tissues and had come to Sophia’s rescue just minutes before.) Each of the appearing cast members, which included: Sophia Bush, Bethany Joy Galeotti, Paul Johansson, Shantal VanSanten, Stephen Colletti, Robert Buckley, Tyler Hilton, Lee Norris and Jackson Brundage, and creator/producer Mark Schwahn, were clearly feeling the nostalgia and the weight of the memories of so many years working together. While filming had only wrapped a month or so before, the finality of knowing that this is “THE END” and that there will not be new memories in their home-away-from-home in Wilmington, North Carolina seemed to be startle them all over again.

For Sophia Bush, Bethany Joy Galeotti, Paul Johansson, Lee Norris, along with M.I.A. James Lafferty, they were the last remaining original cast members from the pilot. Co-stars Chad Michael Murray, Hilarie Burton, Moira Kelly, Craig Sheffer, Barbara Alyn Woods, Barry Corbin, and Antwon Tanner had wrapped their characters’ storylines long before.

The newer cast members Robert Buckley, Shantal VanSanten, Stephen Colletti, Jackson Brundage and even Tyler Hilton may not have been there for the full nine seasons, but their tenure was no less impressive spanning several seasons on one of the few shows that originated back in the glory days of the WB.

Each and every one of the actors sitting before the fans that night alternated between gleeful joy and looks of profound sadness that the show had come to an end. While fans may shed tears at the loss of their favorite show, it is no less hard to say goodbye for the close-knit cast who treasured their time working on the show.

Goodbyes are never easy. But rather than make the night about saying goodbye, it was a night of celebration – to celebrate the great work of the actors and the other talent behind the show, and to give the fans a chance to share in this final hurrah with them.

So as the lights dimmed and the gripping teaser unfolded before our eyes, there were gasps. It foreshadowed a tumultuous, if not terrifying, and yet beautiful season ahead. Then as the remainder of the episode played out, we were able to share “the beginning of the end” with them. The journey for Brooke Davis, Haley James Scott, Nathan Scott, Dan Scott, Jamie Scott, Mouth McFadden, Clay Evans, Quinn James, Chase Adams, and Chris Keller was coming to an end. Whether they all survive unscathed and free to live “happily ever after” is yet to be revealed. But by the end of this final season, the window in which we have been able to peer into their lives will close forever.

Straight from creator/producer Mark Schwahn, he said he was not looking for “happy endings.” Instead, he focused on writing a story that is tinged with a bit of heart-ache and bitter-sweetness. Because this was the last chance to do it, he also wanted this 9th season to take more risks. So the show is not going quietly into the night, it will grip fans’ hearts and make them remember each and every precious moment.

Dispelling some of the apprehension that Mark’s words invoked, and clearly unable to contain herself, Sophia burst out she is simply excited to see what the fans think of it all. It was a big year for her as she was given the opportunity to direct the second to last episode, which propels the characters towards their momentous finale. Working with each of her castmates in that pivotal and adrenaline-rushed episode left her breathless and tingling with anticipation.

In response to the question of who is under the sheet in the morgue, Mark quickly quipped, “Not telling!” But, like Sophia, he is dying to see how the fans react to that revelation.

When asked what they will remember the most about the 9th season, the responses were varied. Joy said that she was thrilled to have Tyler back as his excitement and focus made each scene that much more rewarding and fun to work on together. Sophia chimed in to add that Tyler’s return is like seeing a unicorn: it is a rare and special treat! Then Paul said cryptically, “You have no idea what Dan will do this season” and, if the smug smile on his face was any indication, Dan is likely to rain down Hell on Earth if given the chance. Which may very well be true, given that the significant line from the opening episode was Nathan Scott saying, “Hell is empty – all the devils are already here.” Those words may be eerily prophetic. Mark also explained that he really wanted the characters of Dan Scott and Chris Keller back for the final season as he thought they made great antagonists “stirring the pot.” Finally, Sophia said that, for her, it was amazing exploring Brooke as a mother and a natural protector – the natural culmination for a beautiful journey and that she was absolutely satisfied with where Brooke’s journey had taken her. She is also grateful to her character for teaching her to own her successes and failures.

For Mark, wrapping a scene at the river court in the finale as well as revisiting Karen’s Café where it all began 9 years ago, were some of his favorite final memories. He recalled the bitter-sweetness of finishing the pilot and not yet knowing if they were going to be picked up and how he would be heart-broken if they did not get a chance to tell the stories he knew were waiting to be told. Yet nine years later, and here they are. So many great stories, remarkable memories and magnificent moments. A treasure by any count.

As was noted time-and-time again through the night as question-after-question was answered about their favorite memories from other the years and this final season, there was so much to appreciate and be grateful for. Joy also wisely noted, “No one was taking it for granted. We all wanted to appreciate every moment.” Mark added that this season remains his favorite because the countdown to the end made him savor and appreciate it more. He emphasized that he wanted to both honor the longtime fans who had been there since Day One and reward them with a sensational season. With fingers-crossed, they all hope that through the final episode, the fans will savor each moment along with them.

So while Paul may remember the scene where he got to kiss Bethany over and over again for each take before the camera, or Shantal will remember her heart in her hand at the end of each season as they awaited their renewal announcement, or Bethany will remember all those heart-tugging speeches that Haley made to Brooke over the years, or Lee will remember visiting the kids in Honey Grove, Texas, or Rob will remember his very first day on set and working with his lovely co-star Shantal, or Stephen will remember all the fantastic musical performances at Trick – the one thing that they will all remember fondly is the friendships they made. ONE TREE HILL was never just about the characters; it was about the actors, writers, producers and everyone else working on the show and how it indelibly impacted and influenced their lives as well. Nine years. Nine wonderful years. Not quite a lifetime, but surely a timespan to change lives. It gave them — and us — memories, friendships and 187 episodes to cherish.

It may be the end, but never goodbye. Wipe your tears, laugh and smile. This is just the beginning.

So tune in for ONE TREE HILL’s final season on Wednesday, January 11th at 8PM on the CW. It is time to celebrate!

Grossest Manipulation: “I’m not trying to sell a story,” said BACHELOR PAD’s Kasey to fellow contestants. “But just know the money is necessary for my grandmother to live.” Kudos, dude. You’ve finally proven yourself to be just as disgusting as your fame-whore girlfriend, Vienna. Enjoy yourself while you can, buddy, because the race is on to see whether your relationship or your time in the spotlight ends first.

Best Crossover: Holy Wrestlemania! A special Tuesday-night edition of SMACKDOWN featured stars from both this WWE franchise and its sister show, RAW, giving Syfy a nice ratings boost and fans of the genre an extra night of carnage.

Why Geeks Wet Themselves This Week: The New York Post reported that a sixth version of STAR TREK is in the works and will soon be pitched to CBS.

The “Well What Else Did He Have To Do” Award Goes To…: Chad Michael Murray, who, having all but squandered the buzz he had a few years back, will return for the final season of ONE TREE HILL.

Best Tweet: Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine sent out one reading: “The VMA’s. One day a year when MTV pretends to still care about music.” He closed with an obscenity that would have been downright appropriate for what New York Times’ columnist Jon Caramanica dubbed “maybe the most bleeped award show in history, and certainly the lewdest.”

Saddest News: Melissa Sue Gilbert and Bruce Boxleitner announced they’d be divorcing. And if Scarecrow and Half Pint can’t make it, who can?

Lamest Casting: Okay, be honest: Who out there knows who JR Martinez is? Given his lack of storyline, even most ALL MY CHILDREN fans — on which he plays Brot — might have difficulty placing the name. Forget COUGAR TOWN; it’s DANCING WITH THE STARS that needs to consider a name change.

The “Don’t Make Us Beg… ’Cause We Will” Award Goes To: CBS, who this week put some of it’s programming on Hulu… but only in Japan. Given how crappy CBS’s on-line players are (and that includes for sister-network The CW), we can only hope this is a sign that Hulu will soon be hosting their content here as well.

Story We Never Need To See Written Again: No outlet needs to write about how “not all (insert ethnic group here) are happy with (insert offensive reality show centered on group comprised largely of said ethnicity here).” That’s like saying that not all cows are pleased with slaughterhouses.

Worst Mom: A stage mother on TLC’s TODDLERS & TIARAS dressed her child as Dolly Parton… complete with padded chest and butt. Remember when you actually, I don’t know, learned stuff on The Learning Channel?

Most Humble Nominee: SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE hostess Cat Deeley told AfterEllen.com that Ryan Seacrest should win the Emmy that they’re both competing for. If she weren’t so darn charming, we’d smack her. As it is, we’ll settle for her graciously accepting come Emmy night.

Dumbest Question Ever: Will there be any GLEE skits on this year’s Jane Lynch-hosted Emmy telecast?

Emmy-Worthy Performance Of The Week: What do you say we just give next year’s Outstanding Lead Actress in a Daytime Drama nod to ALL MY CHILDREN’s Debbi Morgan right now? It’ll be tough for anyone out there to top her heartbreaking performance as alter ego Angie clawed at the ground beneath which was buried the switched-at-birth daughter she hadn’t even known had died.

Best — And Perhaps Only — Reason To Watch TWO AND A HALF MEN For The First Time: Judy Greer (perhaps best known as the breast-flashing secretary on ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT) has been cast as the ex-wife of Ashton Kutcher’s character.

Any word on how Colin Hanks is going to fit into the new season of DEXTER? — Dave
The TV Addict: Words, we’ve got plenty. What’s more, they’re not just a random collection of ambiguous ones strung together in a desperate attempt to leave readers with the impression we know far more about the upcoming sixth season of DEXTER than we actually do. Rather, they’re from the former good guy himself, Colin Hanks, who was kind enough to make up for interrupting our one-on-one with HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER’s Jason Segel during last week’s CBS/CW/Showtime Party by dropping a few hints about what fans can expect from his character. “Here’s the problem. So much of the show is a secret that they’ve sort of engrained in me to not ruin the secret and when you sign a legal binding document it sort of makes you not want to do that. What I can say is that my character Travis restores ancient artifacts and he has a relationship with a Professor Gellar that’s played by Eddie Olmos,” said Hanks, of his character who is sprinkled in throughout the season. “It’s amazing and I want to tell the world about it but I can’t. Here’s the one thing I can say, there are a few instances this season where we are doing things that the show has never done before that will make all the DEXTER-heads flip out!”

Is there any truth to the rumor that GLEE is going back to its first season roots this year? — Drew
The TV Addict: Indeed there is. So much so that fans will be thrilled to discover that when GLEE does return for its much-anticipated third season this Tuesday September 20th at 8PM on FOX (Global TV in Canada), it will do so in a very familiar fashion. Teased star Lea Michele during last week’s FOX TCA Party, “This is the only top secret information that I can give you. I was really hoping that in this upcoming season I would get no slushies, no mess and whatever and then… like page two of script one I’m already a mess! Obviously they’re doing it on the first script because we’re coming back from the break happy and well rested. Had they put that in mid season we all would definitely have said no, I’m not looking forward to that.”

This DEGRASSI addict needs to know if HIGHLAND GARDENS is coming to the United States? — Cindy
The TV Addict: According to our highly placed — and we should mention on the off chance he or she is reading this — super awesome source at Epitome Pictures (The company behind both DEGRASSI and HIGHLAND GARDENS) no deal has yet been struck for a US Network to carry the Canadian series. As such, we feel that now is as good a time as any — again, on the off chance our highly placed source is reading this — to humbly suggest that Epitome look towards the CW, a channel which is in desperate need for some addictive, not to mention, affordable summer programming come 2012.

Any idea what Dan Scott is doing back in ONE TREE HILL? — Stephanie
The TV Addict: Not really. Of course if we were a betting man, which by the way we’re not, we’d be putting down a sizeable junk of our non-existent blogging riches on Dan Scott not surviving the season. Don’t forget, you heard that here first.

Any clue as to how Marshall and Lilly will deal with being expectant parents on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER this season? — Bianca
The TV Addict: Since Marshall and Lilly’s baby isn’t scheduled to arrive until May sweeps, we’re not gonna lie, we got nothing. Except to reveal how Marshall’s portrayer Jason Segel feels about the matter. “The thing I’m most nervous about are these poor actor babies who are going to have to be on set with me because I’m not good with kids at all,” said Segel. “Babies are terrified of me, I’m gigantic and kids are really scared!”

From the sex of the baby, to whether or not Booth and Brennan are going to live together, November 3rd is far too long to wait for BONES to return. Help me TV Addict, you’re my only hope! — Allie
The TV Addict: Okay, here’s the thing. Knowing full well how desperate BONES fans are for even the teensiest morsel of information with regards to their favorite couple (Yes, we said it, actual, honest-to-goodness couple. Finally!) our number one mission at the recent FOX TCA Party was to corner anyone even remotely related to BONES and pepper them with questions. That’s the good news. The bad news is that creator Hart Hanson has his cast trained incredibly well, to the point that the only thing the usually talkative Michaela Conlin (Angela) would spill is that Booth and Brennan’s living situation will be made abundantly clear in the show’s first episode back. What’s more, she knows the sex but isn’t clear on the name and jokingly referred to the baby by the famous androgynous fictional SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE character, “Pat,” when asked what name she’d give the baby if given the choice!

BONES scoop please!!! — Melissa
The TV Addict: Are you a fan of cryptic messages that could mean practically anything? If so, you’re really going to appreciate the incredibly ambiguous tease that creator Hart Hanson gave us as he held court amidst a gaggle of reporters during the recent Fox TCA Party, “The first scene shot is going to amaze people, the show looks different.” Read into that what you will.

Although much has been made about Sarah’s personal life when it comes to the new season of PARENTHOOD, very little has been discussed with regards to her professional one. Is it safe to assume that her career as a writer will continue? — Raquel
The TV Addict: While it is in fact safe to assume that Sarah’s success as a scribe will continue… it will do so at a glacial pace. According to Lauren Graham during a recent one-on-one with the TV Addict. “I’m interested in kind of the process and seeing Sarah grow but because it’s an artistic thing it shouldn’t have any giant leaps and bounds.”

Literally cannot wait for the return of PARKS AND RECREATION, any scoop? — Michael
The TV Addict: Assuming of course you’re a fan of Rob Lowe’s character Chris, prepare for your jaw to quite literally (see how we did that) hit the floor. Why you ask? Well, in a nutshell, Chris Traeger is about to make his ideal love connection. Now, where the shocking part comes in is said aforementioned connection will be made by none other than the soon-to-be introduced daughter of a government worker we’ve come to know and love.

Any hint as to who April might lose her virginity to on GREY’S ANATOMY this season? — Amy
The TV Addict: Funnily enough, we posed that very question to April’s portrayer, the delightful Sarah Drew at ABC’s recent TCA Cocktail Party. And while she was, not surprisingly thank-you-very-much spoiler Nazi Shonda Rhimes, incredibly tight-lipped on who, when and even if it will even happen this season, the glowing mother-to-be did let us in on one little secret: Just who she’d like to see April lose it to! “It would be interesting to have the bad boy Alex and the good girl April and kind of see how that worked out,” admitted Sarah Drew after jokingly pointing out how awkward it was to talk about this very touchy subject matter with her real-life husband sitting right next to her. “But at the same time I would kind of find that hard to believe. I think April needs to find someone who has a similar kind of mentality and outlook on life. Although it would probably make for an interesting storyline, total opposites finding their way to one another, but I don’t know.”

For those fans worried that this upcoming seventh season might mark the end of the road for your beloved Winchester Bros. well, you can stop worrying now. “It’s not intended to be the last season,” said newly-minted CW President Mark Pedowitz during this morning’s executive session from the 2011 Television Critics Press Tour at the Beverly Hilton. “We’ll see where the ratings go. We hope the show keeps going.” Adding, when asked what he credits the longevity of the show too, “the love between two brothers, two really good looking guys that transcend the supernatural elements at the end of the day.”

ONE TREE HILL
For those fans worried that this upcoming ninth (!) season really will mark the end of the road for the town that responsibility parenting forgot, well, we’ve got some bad news for you. “At this point, it’s the final 13,” said Pedowitz. “Again you never want to say never, because you don’t know what happens, but n our conversations with [creator] Mark Schwahn we have said it’s the final 13.”

It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s…
… not Superman. That said, fans of the superhero genre will be happy to learn that the network — thanks to their parent company (Time Warner’s) ownership of DC Comics is actively looking to a superhero series next season, if the right superhero comes to be. Cooler still, Pedowitz was quick to point out that Tom Welling would be welcome back into the fold with open arms should he ever wish to return to series television.

Calling All Cars
Are you ready for LAW & ORDER: COLLEGE CAMPUS EDITION or CSI: WILMINGTON? The CW sure as heck is! After-all, procedurals not only are easier for viewers to jump in and out of, they repeat well. Said Pedowitz of his plan to put a procedural at the top of his Network priority list. “Our focus is to find that great closed-ended show that has a CW feel to it. We need those shows.”

Pay Attention Upper East Siders
Does the lure of the big screen for the likes of stars Blake Lively and Leighton Meester spell the end of GOSSIP GIRL? Not if Mark Pedowitz has anything to say about it. “I’m a big believer in casts staying together. We hope they stay together as long as possible. When we have to cross that bridge… we’ll see [what happens].”

Pleased don’t judge me but I’m still watching ONE TREE HILL. Any chance you can reward my loyalty with some scoop on Dan Scott’s return? — Brianna
The TV Addict: Judge, who us? Surely you jest! After-all, despite threatening to drop the show on more than one occasion, we’re still watching DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. Which is why we’re going to acquiesce to your request for scoop and fill you in on a little secret: Dan Scott may have actually turned over a new leaf, or at least that’s what sources are telling us with regards to early episodes of the season that see Scott transform himself into somewhat of a slightly older and more out of shape version of the Caped Crusader, protecting his family from drug dealers and other slightly-less-than-upstanding Tree Hill citizens.

Any word on how the rejiggered FINDER is shaping up? — Madison
The TV Addict: Have you heard the one about the orphan who walks into a bar? Rest assured, you will! Because it’s not the start of a really bad joke, but rather the title of THE FINDER’s first episode back (“An Orphan Walks into a Bar”). Oh, and on the off chance you’re wondering as to just why an orphan walks into a bar, well, he has a job for the titular finder Walter Sherman (Geoff Stults)… one that, surprise, surprise, involves the hiring of Sherman to investigate just why he’s an orphan.

Is Leslie Knope really going to leave her post in the Pawnee Government to run for office on PARKS AND RECREATION? — Christopher
The TV Addict: While sources close to Ms. Knope have been uncharacteristically tight-lipped with regards to her intentions to declare her candidacy, we do know that — in a brilliant attempt to boost ratings — the PARKS AND RECREATION writers will be taking a page from any one of Primetime’s countless police procedurals. Which is to say, expect early episodes of the season to be “ripped from the headlines” as Leslie not only finds herself embroiled in a birth certificate-related scandal as she prepares herself for the possibility of running for office, a handful of Pawnee’s male staffers will be lectured on what is and is not appropriate text etiquette (Think: Weiner-Gate)

So excited to see Heylia James return at the end of last week’s episode of WEEDS! Does the show have any more surprises up its sleeve? — Rob
The TV Addict: Indeed there are. Suffice it to say, Heylia isn’t the only familiar face you’ll see on upcoming episodes of WEEDS as creator Jenji Kohan brings yet another familiar face back into the fold.

Any chance you can offer up a glimmer of hope for this PARENTHOOD fan, specifically on the Jasmine and Crosby front? — Raquel
The TV Addict: Hope, there’s always hope. We for one are still holding out hope for a VERONICA MARS movie and for the WB’s short-lived albeit brilliant-but-cancelled series JACK & BOBBY to get a DVD release. But enough about our hopes and dreams, on to yours. Will Jasmine and Crosby reconcile? We’re going to go out on a limb and say yes. Of course, this being PARENTHOOD — the show where nothing is ever as simple as it sounds — it’s going to be a long and windy road to happily ever after. Particularly after a communication break down in an early season 3 episode on behalf of Crosby sees Max and Jabbar end up in the Principal’s office. Da… Da… Duh…

Any idea as to who Oceanside Wellness will replace Naomi with on PRIVATE PRACTICE? — Jill
The TV Addict: No, although we do know that interviews for Naomi’s replacement will take place in the second episode of PRIVATE PRACTICE’s fifth season. What’s more, they won’t go well.

Getting slightly frustrated with the lack of answers on FALLING SKIES, any chance the show will remedy this during Sunday’s episode? — Michael
The TV Addict: Short Answer: Yes. In Sunday’s can’t miss episode fans will learn a pivotal detail about why the aliens invaded earth. That’s the good news. Unfortunately the bad news is that the aforementioned intel uncovered by Dr. Glass (Moon Bloodgood) will have some horrifying repercussions for the community and more specifically, those poor harnessed kids. Double… Da… Da… Duh…

After eight seasons of hoop dreams and relationship drama one could hardly fault James Lafferty for wanting to hang up his sneakers. But just how serious is he about preparing to say goodbye to Nathan Scott, the character he has been playing since he was 17 years old? We recently caught up with the actor to find out just that, as well as have him reflect on ONE TREE HILLS’ remarkable longevity as we head towards what may-or-may-not be the hit CW show’s final act.

Did you ever imagine that eight years later you’d still be shooting ONE TREE HILL?
James Lafferty: Not really. I think it was kind of impossible to imagine that we would go eight seasons like that, especially having been on the bubble after pretty much every season where we never really knew our fate. That said, I think just to have that streak of being on the bubble for so many seasons, is just as unprecedented as actually going the eight seasons.

What was your mindset when it came to shooting the upcoming season finale, not knowing if it really was the end or not?
We’ve made the last episode of season eight with an eye on the fact that it could very well be the last episode of the show. So if season nine does come along it’s always welcome, but at the same time if this is actually the last episode we’ll be more grateful on looking back on everything we’ve accomplished than we would be disappointed in the fact that maybe we didn’t get to accomplish something. We’ve really covered all the basis and are so grateful with the eight seasons that we’ve gotten, everything else would kind of be a cherry on top.

How much do you think shooting the show outside of Hollywood — where young actors with a lot of disposable income have a history of getting in trouble — helped contribute to the longevity of the show?
You know it would be difficult to say whether or not ONE TREE HILL would be ONE TREE HILL if it was shot in New York or Los Angeles. The show’s heart is in its small town identity and its small town people. And I think when all of the cast is in Wilmington (North Carolina) it’s easier to focus, live that small town lifestyle our characters are living and separate ourselves from all the rest of the rat race that goes in either New York or LA.

Over the years the show has been very adept at introducing and weaving character in an out of Tree HIll. Was there ever any serious talk about a spin-off?
I think that every different version of the show has kind of been joked about over the years, but I don’t really think that there’s too much of a possibility of that happening. I think at this point it seems like our show is centered around the couples. And in terms of what ONE TREE HILL actually is, I think that everybody being there in the same place, in the same town, and experiencing the same things that they do together as a community is really what the show is about. It’s about that tight knit group of friends and how they navigate life. So while we’ve joked about, I don’t really think that there’s too much of a possibility of that actually happening.

And while we’re on the subject of couples, the Nathan/Haley relationship has for the most part remained ONE TREE HILL’s one constant. Looking back, do you have a favorite moment?
The episode I directed in season 7, that focused on tearing down Renee’s claim that she was the mother of Nathan’s illegitimate child, that was a pretty monumental moment for Nathan and Haley’s relationship because Haley really did stand by Nathan through the entire thing. And as embarrassing and humiliating as it was for her she really made the choice to stick by Nathan and I think Nathan was really honest and understanding about his wife’s reaction. It was an episode that very easily could have torn the family unit apart but they overcame it. And to me, that was really a sign of their relationship, which might have faced the toughest test in their entire roller coaster of a relationship and marriage. They overcame it, they were better for it, and both Nathan and Haley learned from it.

Putting on your writer’s cap for a moment, how would you like to see Nathan end the series?
Well, I think that Nathan, right now is where he belongs, with his family. For so long he bounced around the country trying to pursue his dream of basketball and as much as basketball is really a part of who Nathan is his priority is always his family, which I think is what he is most proud of in life. So for me, if the show ends this season, that’s where I’d like to see Nathan. With his family.

And finally, in preparing for this interview we came across your latest project that sees yourself, brother Stuart, co-star Stephen Colletti and Award-Winning Nature Photographer Ian Shive chronicle your adventures in the great outdoors. What was the inspiration for the project?
We just have a great respect for the outdoors, love to be in the outdoors and really have grown up that way. So you know I think all of us being friends decided we wanted to go and take a trip that would also give the National Park system and these places that our so accessible to everybody in this country [America] a little bit of exposure. This generation — and we’re all guilty of it, I myself spend far more time in front of my computer and television than I probably should — needs to be reminded to experience the outdoors. And we wanted to show other people just how easy it is to get out there and have fun and we’re really proud of the way it turned out because I think it just makes the entire experience look like a blast. Hopefully it will inspire people to get out there, do the same and support a National Park near them, because really that’s how these Parks continue to stay alive — through the support of the people that come, camp, buy passes and see what they have to offer.

Do you have anything positive to report for those of us McSteamy fans who aren’t quite on board with the whole Lexie/Jackson direction GREYS ANATOMY has taken? — Amy
The TV Addict: Don’t shoot the messenger, but if the (above) photo we’ve just obtained teasing the wedding between Callie and Arizona on the upcoming May 5th episode of GREY’S ANATOMY is any indication, one sure as heck doesn’t need to be a facial recognition expert akin to LIE TO ME’s Dr. Cal Lightman to guess that Lexie and Jackson seem to be doing okay, at least for the time being.

Any word on what ROYAL PAINS has up their sleeve this summer? — Mike
The TV Addict: Not so much, except to say that if the upcoming summer season of ROYAL PAINS is half as funny as the episode titles we’re hearing come out of the writer’s room, fans are in for a real treat. At least as evidence by the third episode of the season which is titled, “The Shaw/Hank Redemption” Seriously PSYCH writers, watch your back.

As much as I’m digging the new girl Charlie on GOSSIP GIRL, I’d dig her that much more if she came in between Dan and Blair. Anything you can tease? — Amber
The TV Addict: Having seen Monday’s episode we are sorry to report that Charlie does not in fact come between Dan and Blair… at least not yet. That said, fans will be happy to know that “Dair’s” forward momentum relationship wise takes a step backwards on Monday’s episode thanks to a former flame who returns to sweep Blair off her feet.

One of my favorite aspects of THE GOOD WIFE is the friendship that Kalinda and Alicia have developed over the course of the past two seasons. Is there any hope for the them now that Alicia knows the truth about Kalinda’s affair with Peter? — Miranda
The TV Addict: Put it this way, if a picture is worth 1000 words, this just obtained photo from an upcoming May episode of THE GOOD WIFE is telling us a whole heck of a lot. Namely, Alicia and Kalinda fans should brace themselves for a doozy of a fallout, one that — at least according to one source on the set — has Kalinda seriously contemplating an exit from Lockhart Gardner come May. Da… Da… Duh!

Is FRINGE serious about a major character death during its third season finale? — David
The TV Addict: Despite the identify of what Fox has carefully characterized as a “beloved team member” being kept tightly under wraps, we can confirm that a major character will meet his (or her) untimely demise during what is sure to be a thrilling third season finale. What’s more, we can also <strike>confirm</strike> irresponsibly speculate that Lance Reddick’s Agent Broyles will be the one to go, seeing as though he’s the only character, aside that is from Josh Jackson’s Peter who doesn’t have an alternate. Which is to say, unlike the death of numerous other characters, budget conscious Warner Bros. TV will save some serious coin should Broyles find himself six feet under in the finale.

Please tell me Jeremy and Bonnie will survive the season on THE VAMPIRE DIARIES? — Lesley
As much as we would love to tell you that both Jeremy and Bonnie will make it out of the season finale of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES in one piece, we can’t. Luckily what we can share is this just released synopsis of the episode that may-or-may-not offer up a clue or two as to who is a goner come May 12. “While Mystic Falls presents a screening of “Gone with The Wind” in the town square, Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) memories of Katherine (Nina Dobrev) in 1864 mix with the reality of Elena (Nina Dobrev) in the present day. Stefan (Paul Wesley) pays a terrible personal price for his attempt to prevent a tragedy, and Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) makes a deadly mistake while trying to keep everyone safe. More than one life hangs in the balance as the consequences of the sacrifice ritual play out to a horrifying conclusion.”

Can’t wait for the return of WHITE COLLAR, any scoop? — Kristin
The TV Addict: This summer look for a Mozzie flashback revealing how he embarked on a life of crime and cons. You’ll meet his mentor and the one man he owes everything to. But the past never stays buried, and when the mob puts a hit out on his former mentor, Mozzie, Peter and Neal race against the clock to save him. It is a rare glimpse into how Mozzie became the philosophy-quoting, caper-loving con artist we all know and love.

Does Ryan Murphy have any surprises up his sleeve as the GLEE club heads towards Nationals? — Rebecca
The TV Addict: Complete with guest stars galore (Kristin Chenoweth returns on May 3 to convince Mr. Schuester to hit the road with him, with Jessie St. James returning May 10th) the road to Nationals will be full of surprises. Not the least of which will be an unexpected loss that rocks the world of one of McKinley’s own on May 17th.

Any ideas as to how ONE TREE HILL is treating this May’s finale? — Allie
The TV Addict: Suffice to say, if there is one cast that knows what it’s like to be on the proverbial bubble, it’s the cast of ONE TREE HILL. Or at least that’s the feeling we got after some one-on-one time with star James Lafferty earlier in the week. “I think all of us are of the mind that if it doesn’t go another season we’re so grateful with the 8 seasons that we’ve gotten. It wouldn’t be some sort of huge defeat. We’ve made the last episode of season 8 with an eye on the fact that it could very well be the last episode of the show,” said Lafferty. “If season 9 does come along it’s always welcome but at the same time if this is actually the last episode we’d be more grateful looking back on everything that we’ve been able to accomplish than disappointed in the fact that maybe we didn’t get to accomplish something. We’ve really covered all the bases and everything else would just be a cherry on top.”
