REVENGE Roll Call! Your First Look at the Cast of Season Two

Forget winter… weather is coming! Or at least that was our takeaway from these just released photos highlighting the genetically blessed cast of REVENGE’s second season. A season that not only promises to be decidedly darker, but leaves one with the distinct impression that not everyone pictured in these handful of photos will live to see next fall. But hey, don’t take our word for it, see for yourself after the jump. [Read more…]

REVENGE First Look: “Destiny”

Attention TV Addict!s Stop whatever it is you’re doing, clear your revengda (Yes, that’s Nolan speak for “Revenge agenda”) and get excited… because has just come across some first look photos from the much-anticipated second season premiere of REVENGE entitled “Destiny.”

According to ABC, “Destiny” promises to — in the wake of last summer’s events in the Hamptons — up the ante, with Emily planning her next move while she struggles with her heart and keeping her emotions from getting in the way of her resolve to avenge her father. According to show mastermind Mike Kelly, with whom we caught up with during a summer set visit to the Hollywood version of the Hamptons, “Destiny” is the theme of the season. “Much like I did with the pilot, where I opened with a Confucius quote that said ‘Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves,’ Season two will open with a quote about destiny. It’s an Emil quote about whether you have a hand in choosing your own destiny or whether it’s already laid out for you. This season is all about freewill versus fate.” [Read more…]

Ask the Addict: Spoilers for BONES, REVENGE, FALLING SKIES, HART OF DIXIE, SMASH & More!

With season eight just around the corner, any chance you care to brighten my day with a little scoop on BONES? — Paul
The TV Addict: Happy to! But rather than have us let the sunshine in, we have a feeling fans would much prefer to hear direction from executive producers Hart Hanson and Stephen Nathan, who had this to say when we posed that very question at Fox’s All-Star Celebration during the recent Summer portion of the annual Television Critics Association Press Tour in Hollywood:

The TV Addict: Please just tell me everything you can about the upcoming season premiere?
Nathan: It happens at the very beginning of the season!
Hanson: It ends about forty-five minutes in!
Nathan: With commercials it’s about an hour!
Hanson: At the end of last season Brennan was on the run because of Pellant and the season opener asks the question as to whether our guys get her back and put Pallant in jail so that she can come back. Chances are they’ll succeed because we have a second episode!
Nathan: But they might not succeed in the way that think they’re going to succeed.
Hanson: Things don’t resolve. [Read more…]

Advertising Anarchy: REVENGE

“I can’t see the difference, can you see the difference?”

That in a nutshell was this TV Addict’s reaction to the release of REVENGE’s second season poster that bares an eerie similarity to that of its first. A poster that does little more than reinforce the fact that much of the Alphabet Network’s major marketing push leading up to the Fall (both financially and creativity speaking) will be dedicated towards a splashy launch of a select handful of new shows. Which is precisely why we thought now would be as good a time as any for yet another edition of Advertising Anarchy, also known as our unique take on how networks and studios might wish to consider promoting some of our favorite new and returning shows). You’re welcome.

As an enormous fan of CHUCK I’m hoping you can tell me when we might expect to see Yvonne Stahovski enter the frame this season on DEXTER? — Rickey
The TV Addict: As much as we’d like to be able to tell you that Ms. Strahovksi will be front and center during DEXTER’s first episode back, you’re going to have to wait until episode three. Of course, having already had the pleasure of watching episode one, you’ll be pleased to know that what it lacks in the Strahovksi department it more than makes up for with a return to form for the series thanks to Deb finally learning the truth about her brother’s extra curricular activities. In fact, I think star Michael C. Hall said it best during the recent Television Critics Association Press Tour when he summed up the season as so, “Whatever your opinion of ranking the seasons, for my money DEXTER is never more compelling than when he is in trouble and never been deeper trouble than he is now.”

Any hints as what zaniness might befall the town of Bluebell when HART OF DIXIE returns for its much anticipated second season? — Ashley
The TV Addict: Are you ready for some football fitness?! We hope so, because that’s the question Dr. Zoe Hart will be asking the residents of Bluebell during the second season in an attempt to slim down the town’s ever-expanding waistline. A waistline whose diet includes a steady staple of, well, fried everything. And while we’re on the subject of waist, fans may-or-may-not be please to discover that Lavon will be wasting (See what we did there!) very little time when it come to picking up the pieces of his broken heart post-Lemon rejection.

Did you happen to pick up any clues as to the identity of SCANDAL’s Quinn during your reason time spent at the Television Critics Association Press Tour? — Sara
The TV Addict: Unfortunately, since Shonda Rhimes has trained her troupe a little too well when it comes to the oh-so dark arts of spoiler avoidance, the only thing we could get out of SCANDAL star Guillermo Díaz (Huck) is the following. “I know who Quinn is now and everyone else will know after the show’s first episode back. Or they think they might know. But a lot of questions will be answered in the first episodes and I think people will be really satisfied with it/ It definitely is going to change the relationships between everyone on the show. It’s going to change things for sure, but change can be good.” [Read more…]

Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Takeaways from ABC President Paul Lee’s TCA Executive Session

modern family cast

Show MODERN FAMILY the money?
Paul Lee’s first rule when it comes to discussing the current contract negotiations between the cast of MODERN FAMILY and 20th Century TV/ABC is don’t talk about the current contract negotiations between MODERN FAMILY and 20th Century TV/ABC. To that end, Paul Lee’s response to three or four different reporters attempt to get him to dish on the current contract negotiations was that he’s both “hopeful” and “optimistic” that all parties involved will reach an agreement all parties involved.

Paul Lee loves his shows, he really really loves them!
Responding to reporters questions at this morning’s Television Critics Association Press Tour ABC Executive Session, Network President Paul Lee’s answers can pretty much be boiled down to variations of the same “I love that show.” Highlights of which include SUBURGATORY’s unique voice thanks to showrunner Emily Kapnek, ONCE UPON A TIME’s “four quadrant appeal,” REVENGE fan’s binge viewing, SCANDAL finding its voice and Fall’s upcoming one-two combo of HAPPY ENDING and DON”T TRUST THE B—-. The latter of which are two of Lee’s favorite comedies thanks to their hilarious showrunners. [Read more…]

Virtual Watercooler: REVENGE

Like many of you, we hear at start our morning at the water cooler, talking about last night’s television. The only difference? When contributor Richard M. Simms and I talk, we’re in not only different rooms but different countries. Wanna eavesdrop on our Instant Message chatter from this morning? Here ya go: [Read more…]

Most Sob-Inducing Send-off: “Go play, Sammy.” That one hurt, REVENGE. That one hurt.

The Perfect Storm Of Late Night: Conan and Letterman talking about Leno? How very meta!

Shooting Blanks: Lunkhead and former BACHELOR Brad Womack said he “dodged a bullet” where Emily is concerned. Dude, we’re pretty sure that gun was pointing in the other directly.

Dumbest Decision: NBC burned off the final three episodes of COMMUNITY rather than, God forbid, stretch them out and have original programming extend past sweeps.

Most Undeserved Punishment: REVENGE is moving to Sunday — already the most crowded night of the week — opposite THE GOOD WIFE? Clearly, we did something to seriously tick the folks at ABC off. [Read more…]
