The CW alien-drama STAR-CROSSED was an addictive, heart-warming, intriguing show for those who discovered it. Unfortunately, it ended all too soon after the CW elected to not renew the show for a second season. Since the news broke, fans around the globe have been clamoring for the CW, CBS, Warner Bros., Fox and Netflix to give the show a chance and pick-up for that elusive second season. Alas, those pleas seem to have fallen on deaf executive ears as each network and studio has invested all their programming/production funds in their new slate of television shows.

So in an exclusive interview, STAR-CROSSED’s creator and executive producer Meredith Averill answers a few remaining questions about the fate of the show. [Read more…]

STAR-CROSSED Scoop: The Cast Dishes on Tonight’s Stormy New Episode as Human/Alien Relations Heat Up During a Hurricane

72063

In this week’s new episode of STAR-CROSSED, “What Storm Is This That Blows So,” a hurricane hits Edendale and forces the students at Marshall High into lock-down. But due to the suspicious nature and suddenness of the storm, Lukas (Titus Makin Jr.) and Sophia (Brina Palencia) investigate to find out what may have been the real cause of this ferocious visit from Mother Nature. Also suspicious is Roman (Matt Lanter) who believes that Teri (Chelsea Gilligan) may be conspiring with her Trag mom Vega (Merle Dandridge) in a plot to harm Emery (Aimee Teegarden), after last week’s public outing by Castor (Johnathan Schaech). Then Grayson (Grey Damon) puts pressure on Drake (Greg Finley) to reveal the names of the Trags conspiring against the humans. And if that was not enough drama to keep everyone busy during the lock-down, Ms. Benton (Stephanie Jacobsen) needs an Atrian specimen to run further tests on to discover the secrets of cyper.

Hilariously, the one person looking to keep as far away from trouble in this episode is Erik (Jesse Luke), alas he is a bit of a trouble-magnet and he finds himself having to talk himself out of a couple of awkward situations.

But not everything is life and death in this episode. There is occasion for a least two unexpectedly warm and wonderful kisses and the new romances starting to bloom between the Atrians and humans are going to fight hard to keep their various feuding factions from driving them apart. If only life could be all about love, and not having to worry about those who would hunt each of them down for just being different.

This is the dilemma that STAR-CROSSED tackles head-on. The distrust and resentment by the extremists amongst the Atrians and the humans is heating up and its put these teens lives at risk. What is fascinating is seeing how deftly each rises to the challenge and is willing to do whatever it takes to protect their families and love ones, while still trying to keep the peace and find a way to encourage further integration and understanding.

While at WonderCon this past weekend, the cast took a few minutes to talk about the big hurricane episode of STAR-CROSSED and how it impacts their characters. (Also fun are the shout-outs by Aimee Teegarden, Jesse Luken, Matt Lanter and executive producers Adele Lim and Meredith Averill who express their delight in William Shatner’s recent live-tweets of their show.) STAR-CROSSED Preview: A Love Written In the Stars

star-crossed, Matt Lanter, Aimee Teegarden

With only six of its thirteen episodes of its first season having aired, fans of the new series STAR-CROSSED have fallen under its spell. From the very first episode, everyone fell in love with the star-crossed love story of Roman (Matt Lanter) and Emery (Aimee Teegarden), the alien boy and the human girl. Watching their meet-cute at the tender age of six as young Emery shared spaghetti with the young alien boy hiding in her garage, how could we not?

Flash-forward 10 years later and it is the first day at school at Marshall High. It is not only Emery’s first day as she has just been released from the hospital after a long, painful recovery, it is Roman’s first day as well — for it had taken ten years before humans would finally allow a few chosen Atrians teens to attend a local high school as a trial program to integrate the alien and humans. STAR-CROSSED Scoop: Brina Palencia Talks Portraying an Alien Girl Fascinated by Humans

Brina Palencia star-crossed

In the CW series STAR-CROSSED, just like Emery (Aimee Teegarden) has been fascinated by the Atrians since Arrival Day ten years earlier, so has Sofia (Brina Palencia) been captivated by the humans. So souls are just open to the possibility of embracing new cultures — even one so alien to their own.

Sophia, as described by Brina, is a gentle soul whose curiosity may get the better of her. She is so open-hearted that it is hard for her to understand why the humans and Atrians are unable to get along and accept each other. In her mind, they are all just people who are different and mysterious and something wondrous to get to know.

In an exclusive interview, Brina Palencia talks about Sophia’s great love for everyone and the beauty of Sophia and Roman’s sibling relationship: [Read more…]

Titus Makin star-crossed

With STAR-CROSSED’s fourth episode about to air, the dividing lines of humans and Atrians have begun to be drawn, but one that stands out as a friend to both sides is Lukas, portrayed by Titus Makin, Jr. At first just seen as a happy-go-lucky friend of Emery (Aimee Teegarden) and Julia (Malese Jow), Lukas’ journey is about to get very interesting.

As Titus mentions in this exclusive interview, Lukas is about to caught up in the crossfire of the Trags and Red Hawks, political factions determined to keep their races separate. [Read more…]

STAR-CROSSED Scoop: Chelsea Gilligan Talks Getting to Play a Bad-Ass Alien Girl

Chelsea Gilligan star-crossed

One would think that one has to watch out for the boys in high school, but when confronted with the likes of an alien teen girl, most human teen boys are simply out of their league. In the new CW series STAR-CROSSED, Chelsea Gilligan portrays Teri, an Atrian teen who has more than a few tricks up her sleeve. Not helping matters is the fact that Teri believes in every fiber of her being that her destined love is Roman (Matt Lanter), an Atrian boy destined to rule their people one day. Teri’s life would be perfect if the Atrians had never crash landed on Earth ten years ago; but they did, and they have been virtual prisoners on Earth ever since. However, with new government mandate ordering seven Atrians to participate in a pilot integration program, Teri’s chance to finally stretch her wings and exercise her power has come. Attending a human high school may be the last thing she wants to do, but it affords plenty of opportunities to get outside their internment camp and discover what the world has to offer. It may provide the long-awaited opportunity to prove to Roman of their destined love. [Read more…]
