THE ORIGINALS Comic-Con Sizzle Reel: Always and Forever

It was recently announced that THE ORIGINALS’ upcoming fifth season would be the show’s last, which means that this year’s appearance at Comic-Con will be the final panel.

To introduce this milestone, The CW has released a sizzle reel highlighting the show and hinting at what’s to come. In chronicling the Mikaelson’s “always and forever” promise, we know that this vow has been broken by forces outside the family. When the Hollow took over Hope and threatened to take her away from the family, Kol, Rebekah, Elijah and Klaus each took a part of the Hollow into themselves and promised to stay away from each other forever, lest the power of the Hollow come back if they were in close proximity again. This saved Hope’s life but forced the siblings apart.

Now, as we can see at the end of the video below, a teenage Hope is determined to reunite her family. But we suspect that her quest will be extremely difficult. The Hollow could return and the siblings have the problem of Elijah’s erased memories to overcome as well.

THE ORIGINALS will return midseason on The CW.

Back in January The CW announced early renews for seven of its shows, but the fate of several shows hung in the balance. Then news came that shows such as RIVERDALE and THE 100 had been renewed and now the network has renewed iZOMBIE and THE ORIGINALS.

Both shows returned at midseason this year and while THE ORIGINALS sister-series THE VAMPIRE DIARIES ended after 8 seasons, it looks like both vampires and zombies will continue on the network.

The CW also recently cancelled freshman shows NO TOMORROW and FREQUENCY, making RIVERDALE the only freshman series to score a season 2 renewal. As of now, the fate of all CW new and returning shows has been announced.

THE ORIGINALS Extended Season 4 Preview: Klaus and Hope Reunite

Bad things are happening in New Orleans in the new extended preview for season 4 of THE ORIGINALS. But there’s some good news as well, so let’s tackle that first. After five years of being in a magically-induced coma, Freya, Elijah, Rebekah and Kol were woken up, thanks to Hayley. Now the Mikaelsons are heading back to New Orleans to save Klaus, who has been kept captive by Marcel for all of these years.

According to the preview below, Klaus will be reunited with his siblings and with his daughter. But here’s where the bad comes in: something strange is happening to Hope. And to other children in New Orleans, and it seems like Vincent is in the thick of it.

Elsewhere in the preview we see Cami’s “spirit” guide Klaus and Jason Dohring’s Detective Kinney also pops back up this season.

New episodes of THE ORIGINALS airs on Fridays at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

THE ORIGINALS Season 4 Preview: Trying to Get the Family Back Together

the originals

Hayley is trying to reunite her family on THE ORIGINALS.

When the show returns for its fourth season, five years will have passed since we last saw the Mikaelsons, their friends (the few they have) and their enemies (of which they have quite a few). A preview for the new season shows us a few things:

  • Hayley’s plan to reunite the Mikaelsons is very upsetting to both Marcel and Vincent who don’t want them to return to New Orleans to wreak havoc on the city again
  • Elijah, Kol, Rebekah and Freya are all still trapped and asleep in their coffins
  • Marcel rules New Orleans and is still keeping Klaus hostage. Klaus, meanwhile, continues to have visions of the deceased Cami

The preview doesn’t show this, but with THE VAMPIRE DIARIES coming to an end soon, expect to see a Mystic Falls resident turning up on an upcoming episode of THE ORIGINALS: Alaric Saltzman (played by Matt Davis).

THE ORIGINALS returns for its fourth season on March 17 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

THE ORIGINALS Season Finale Preview: Will Marcel Rule New Orleans?

the originals

Marcel is looking for revenge on the season finale of THE ORIGINALS. After the Mikaelson family sacrificed Davina in order to kill Lucien, Marcel is drowning in his grief. And he wants to take the city back from Klaus and his siblings and put them down for good. Which is why he took Lucien’s serum, thereby making him more powerful than the original vampires.

Now it’s the day of reckoning. The Mikaelson siblings may have fended off deadly attacks for months, but now they’re coming face-to-face with the one person that could lead to their demise. Klaus’ compound is overrun by an army of Marcel’s followers and he’s put on trial to answer for his centuries of sins. Marcel, however, is shocked by the unexpected arrival of Rebekah. Is she the only person who can actually get through to him?

Vincent, meanwhile, is concerned that the people of New Orleans might be caught in the crossfire of the Marcel-Mikaelson war and he’s doing what he can to protect the city. At the same time, Freya, Kol and Elijah are searching for a way to save their family before it’s too late.

Don’t miss the season finale of THE ORIGINALS tonight (May 20) at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW. THE ORIGINALS is set to return at midseason on The CW.

THE ORIGINALS Sneak Peek: The Quest to Save Davina

the originals

THE ORIGINALS lost two characters in last week’s episode, but it appears that the characters might have a chance at getting one of them back. Cami is gone after being poisoned by Lucien’s bite, but Davina (killed by Kol, who is being controlled by the witch ancestors) could be returned to the land of the living.

After Cami’s death, Klaus teams up with Elijah and Freya to figure out a way to take Lucien down once and for all. But that is quickly interrupted by the death of Davina. The plan to save Davina seems to have hit a snag — in order to get her back they have to consecrate her body, but Kol doesn’t want them to do that because he’s afraid the ancestors will destroy her spirit when she wakes up in their domain. Vincent insists that they can consecrate her and keep her somewhere safe until they can resurrect her, but his magic isn’t what it once was. Therefore, he’ll be needing Freya’s help to do the necessary spells. Kol isn’t convinced that his family will help them, but Klaus tells Freya and Elijah to pitch in to save Davina. Meanwhile, Klaus and Hayley uncover Lucien’s latest plan and head to the bayou to investigate more. Once there, “an unexpected showdown between Klaus and Lucien forces Freya to take matters into her own hands, setting off a chain of events that will change all of their lives forever.”

Don’t miss an all new episode of THE ORIGINALS tonight (May 6) at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

THE ORIGINALS Sneak Peek: An Unholy Union

the originals

No one likes a revenge story better than Aurora. Unfortunately, that’s going to seriously hurt the Mikaelsons on this week’s episode of THE ORIGINALS.

Specifically, Aurora and Lucien are teaming up to take down Klaus. When Klaus leaves Elijah with Freya — who is searching for a way to take the super-powered Lucien down — he ends up getting taken hostage by Aurora and Lucien. Elijah and Freya will be leading the charge to get Klaus back, but they’ll be fighting against a very powerful force. And Hayley and Cami will come up with their own risky plan to rescue Klaus.

Meanwhile, Kol’s behavior will continue to become increasingly more erratic, leaving Daving to turn to Marcel and Vincent for help in dealing with him.

Don’t miss an all new episode of THE ORIGINALS tonight (April 15) at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

THE ORIGINALS Sneak Peek: Mad Matt

The Originals 317 photo Behind the Black Horizon

On the heels of Ian Somerhalder’s directorial turn on last week’s THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, star of THE ORIGINALS, Joseph Morgan, takes the shot-caller chair this week on his own series.

Regarding Morgan’s first directing effort for the series, Executive Producer, Michael Narducci, has been quoted as saying, “I really cannot say enough about how amazing Joseph did…He is an incredible director…and it’s a great episode.”

Last week, in an unexpected turn, Lucien (guest star Andrew Lees) kidnapped Freya (Riley Voelkel), taking the deadly white oak bullet in the process.  Tonight, Lucien’s deadly plan unfolds revealing the scheme behind his actions.

Two of the battling Mikaleson brothers, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Finn (guest star Casper Zafer), follow a lead to Freya that takes them back to their old stomping grounds, Mystic Falls.

While there, they run afoul of Mystic Falls sheriff, Matt Donovan (guest star Zach Roerig) in this crossover of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and THE ORIGINALS.  Matt has been on a vampire-hunting rage on THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and is not happy to see the Mikaelsons back in town.  Finn is especially unhappy to see the sheriff as Matt already killed Finn once back in TVD’s season 3.

Producers have said that there will be more crossovers between the two shows, since both series shoot in Covington, Georgia, (with The Originals doing some location shooting in New Orleans).  Both shows share producers and both already have been renewed for next season.

Being behind the camera does not mean that Morgan gets a night off from being in front of the camera. Klaus (Morgan) and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) continue to strengthen their relationship for the sake of their daughter.

Is Lucien the “friend” warned about in Freya’s prophecy?  In that prophecy, the Mikaelsons will be destroyed “One by friend.  One by foe, and one by family.” Kol (guest star Nathaniel Buzolic) already tried to kill his brother, Finn, last week, and his spiraling behavior leaves Davina (Danielle Campbell) concerned for their future together.

When Davina and Kol are lured to St. James, the one place where magic does not work, she becomes even more suspicious when she finds the tarot card that Vincent was using to warn her about impending danger.  Has Kol or some sinister force trapped her in the one place where her powers are useless?

Written by Declan de Barra & Diane Ademu-John, this episode of THE ORIGINALS, “Beyond the Black Horizon,” airs tonight (April 8) at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

THE ORIGINALS Sneak Peek: Surrounded by Foes

the originals

The Mikaelsons in New Orleans are surrounded by their enemies when THE ORIGINALS returns tonight.

In “Alone With Everybody”, rumors about the remaining white oak bullet begin to spread and Klaus’ enemies start converging on New Orleans to take him down. Elijah is worried about the safety of his family, so he rounds up his siblings (Freya, Kol and Finn) and Davina and holes them up inside the compound, while the Strix stand guard to protect them. Meanwhile, Marcel, Vincent and Josh are chasing down a lead about a mystery vamp named Sofya, who may have the answers they’re looking for.

Inside the compound, things are starting to heat up. Finn and Kol are coming face-to-face again and Kol is furious about Finn, who was responsible for his death.

Elsewhere, Klaus and Hayley are adjusting to life on the run (complete with trucker hats for Klaus, who is clearly not happy about Hayley’s fashion suggestions for him) and seek shelter with her former pack.

A new episode of THE ORIGINALS airs tonight (April 1) at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and THE ORIGINALS Crossover Sneak Peeks: Hot! Hot! Hot!

Vampire Diaries photo 714 s7e14 Moonlight on the Bayou crossover with The Originals

Friday night gets a double dose of “vampire hotness” when THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and THE ORIGINALS do a great crossover episode that is full of action, drama and one-liners.

In a move to save Damon (Ian Somerhalder) from Rayna Cruz’s Phoenix Sword, Stefan (Paul Wesley) is wounded by the mystical blade instead.

Since the blade’s mark can track its victim almost anywhere, Stefan heads to New Orleans for sanctuary in a bar that is cloaked to hide its supernatural occupants from hunters.

Stefan is welcomed by old friend, Klaus Mikaelson (guest star Joseph Morgan from THE ORIGINALS), and the two have a heart-to-heart about Caroline (Candice King), her babies and complicated families.

Stephan asks Klaus for some of his hybrid vampire/werewolf blood to help Damon, who has been trapped by Enzo (Michael Malarkey).  Damon is locked in a room with Tyler Lockwood (guest star Michael Trevino) who is on the verge of turning into a werewolf with the night’s full A werewolf bite can kill a vampire, and Damon wants Stefan to bring home some of Klaus’s blood as an antidote.  Klaus is considering the request when the wound from the Phoenix Sword on Stephan’s chest starts to leak blood through his shirt.

Klaus recognizes the X-mark wound and becomes enraged that Stephan would lead vampire hunter, Rayna (guest star Leslie-Anne Huff), to his city.  Rayna, aka “The Huntress,” is responsible for killing several of Klaus’s vampire cronies in the past, and the current New Orleans vampire population is quite large.

Furious, Klaus kicks Stefan out of the bar, leaving his fate to the vampire huntress who is tracking the younger Salvatore to the Big Easy.  Valerie (guest star Elizabeth Blackmore) and Matt (Zach Roerig) do what they can to keep Stefan ahead of Rayna.

Back in Virginia, Tyler tells Damon that people like them cannot afford to be around friends and family who always opt to rescue them…that they forever will be putting their loved ones in danger.

His prophecy comes true when Bonnie (Kat Graham) shows up to save Damon and is injured in the melee.  As Damon grieves over Bonnie’s hospital bed, it seems as though he may take Tyler’s advice and remove himself from his friends and family.

He may regret that idea.  A heartfelt talk with Enzo could convince him that family and friends are important.   The Augustine Vampire finally finds a member of his family, Alexandria St. John, and they are connected to The Huntress and the mysterious Armory.

Perhaps knowing what happened to his family will relieve some of Enzo’s emotional torture, but how will he feel if Rayna tracks down Stefan and kills him?  Hot on the vampire’s trail, The Huntress wounds Stefan and is going in for the kill when he is saved by none other than Klaus.

What are Klaus’s motives?  Does he still have residual feelings for Caroline and want to save her from the pain of Stefan’s death?  Is there a forgiving heart under all of that bravado?  Regardless of his motives, he takes a detour when driving Stefan to the train station, opting instead to save his friend by offering to take Stefan to a witch that may be able to undo the cursed wound from the Phoenix Sword.

Does Klaus still love Caroline, despite the fact that his situation is already fraught with complicated women?  Is it mutual?  After she learns that Alaric is taking the SMU job in Dallas, Caroline offers to go with them on the trip and finds herself considering her future.

One thing that seems to be certain, she shows up in New Orleans, twins in tow, three years from now, looking for Klaus.  Is she searching for Stefan, seeking safe haven, revisiting a lost love or something else?

Tonight’s episode of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, “Moonlight on the Bayou,” was written by producers Caroline Dries & Brett Matthews and directed by Jeffrey Hunt and guest stars Scarlett Byrne, Teressa Liane, Mouzam Makkar, Sedona Monet, Lily Rose Mumford, Tierney Mumford and William Ngo.

THE ORIGINALS companion episode, “A Streetcar Named Desire,” was written by Beau DeMayo & Diane Ademu-John and directed by Matt Hastings.

This action-packed crossover starts with THE VAMPIRE DIARIES at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT, immediately followed by THE ORIGINALS at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
