THE VOICE said goodbye to two more contestants during last week’s live elimination. Vedo and Garrett Gardner were sent home by America, leaving only ten in the competition. Though many were no doubt sad to see these two performers leave, the big news of the night was that Christina Aguilera will replace Shakira in next season. Changing coaches is not unheard of in similar competition shows, and viewers are not surprised by a certain amount of turnover. theTVaddict.com caught up with host Carson Daly on how changing coaches impacts the show. Check out what Carson had to say after the jump.

THE VOICE is heading into the Live Rounds and theTVaddict.com is your source for all the behind the scenes scoop. We’ll be on hand with red carpet interviews of the contestants, coverage of their upcoming House of Blues Concert, and more. As a warm-up, theTVaddict.com caught up with some of the contestants from Teams Shakira, Usher, Adam, and Blake. Check out what had to say after the jump.

Karina, I know that you have worked a lot with children leading up to taking your sabbatical to come onto THE VOICE. I just wanted to find out what kind of support you’re getting from the kids and whether you feel like you’re providing them some sort of inspiration for what they can accomplish?
Karina: Oh my God; it’s been incredible for them. They actually had a viewing party at the school. They’ve been having viewing parties every Monday at the school and I Skyped with them last night after I aired. And I mean they’re my biggest cheerleaders. They were so excited to see me on the computer screen and they were screaming for me and they’ve been sending me little videos of their reactions. And so I know I’m being a positive influence and that’s what’s bigger than the show for me is the fact that I can, you know, inspire these kids to dream big.

Have they given you any autograph requests for Shakira or Adam, who all the girls love?
Oh my God. Yes, “Tell them it’s my birthday.” “Tell him I love him.” “Tell him to take a picture with him and send it to me.” Yes, yes all that stuff happens. Yes I just – I wish I can do it for them, but you know, it’s really tough to make those things happen. But yes.

Garrett, what’s been the best part of working with Shakira and what were you really surprised about discovering from working with her on a personal level?
Garrett: Oh well. Well it’s really hard to pick from one thing, you know, to say what’s the best part or what’s – I mean obviously the best part is just, you know, the opportunity to have worked with her in general. But I mean more specifically she’s always talking about, you know, the entire image of an artist. She’s not just concerned about THE VOICE as much as THE VOICE is a huge part of being successful in this industry.
It’s about, you know, the way you hold yourself on stage, the way you connect with your audience, the way even you look. You know, she wants me to keep my hair a certain way. I’ve heard the same thing about other people and she’s, you know, she really has invested in her team. And she does the research to see what you’re into; she’s not just focused on this is what I can see you sing because she wants to hear what you want to sing as well.
So it’s always, you know, like a team effort, you know, as I would say. But at the same time she’s – you know, that’s actually why I’m so surprised about it is she – I never thought she would like take the time to go look at my YouTube panel and see what stuff I’m used to seeing on a regular day to day basis, not just on the show. So she’s really, really invested on a personal level and the people that are on our team and it’s been – that’s probably what has been the biggest surprise. I would have never thought that she’s actually that invested, but it’s amazing to see her get that close with her team.

Were you surprised by how hands-on Usher and Shakira both are considering that they were new judges?
Garrett: I wasn’t necessarily surprised. I knew they were going to, you know, be great additions being both such charismatic and, you know, well-known artists. But it was more of I guess a pleasant surprise to see that they not only were so invested, but they went above and beyond what I ever thought that, you know, they could offer as coaches. And not to say that they can’t offer a lot because obviously we’re seeing them do incredible things, that they just completely blew me away with what they’re doing.

Amber what are you looking forward to most moving forward on this show? Is there anything in particular that you want to challenge yourself on or anything that you feel like you’re still working on and want to show the coaches what you can do?
Amber: I think that I’ve grown so much since the beginning of the show. I feel like I just keep growing up, you know, and I’m looking forward to seeing how much more I can grow. You know, how much more I can learn from Adam. But also I’ve been singing a lot of pop songs and I want to get back, you know, to doing a little more country. So we’ll see what happens.

Has anyone on the line communicated with any former Voice contestants and gotten any advice from them?
Garrett: I guess I’ll go ahead and speak up. Having been on Season 3 I’m fairly good friends with Melanie and Bryan Keith and they both called me up when they saw the — this is Garrett by the way — they both called me and gave me their support. And I’ve seen – I think I’ve seen some stuff on Twitter from the past. You know, I can’t say anybody in particular, but I definitely know I’ve seen people on Season 3 giving shout-outs to various contestants on THE VOICE. So it’s great to see everybody, you know, going back and there’s – we’re all still family even though we all haven’t met.
Karina: I know that I’ve gotten tweets. I haven’t really communicated with anybody on the phone or anything because I don’t really know the contestants from last season personally, but I know Cody Belew has tweeted me and so has Michaela Paige from Season 3. And also Katrina Parker from Season 2. So they’ve been very supportive and that’s pretty cool.
Amber: [Michaela Paige] [tweeted] me too about my hair on the battle round because I look like her.

Yes, the dress and the shoes and the hair. I thought that too.
Amber: Right. She was like, “This is a country version of me this year.” I was like, “Okay then.”

Do you guys get any input into your hair and your wardrobe and any of that stuff?
Amber: Yes they kind of like come up with ideas, but if we don’t like it we can still – we come up with ideas our self. We just all kind of work as a team.

Holly, are you still a student at Baylor?
Holly: Yes, I am.

What were your career goals before THE VOICE, and has the experience on the show changed that?
Holly: Well if I was never going to make it singing, my goal was to get a Business degree and to maybe own my business, or just anything that I could make a good life off of. And also double majored in Spanish, so I wanted to be valuable in Texas. And that’s – that was kind of my original idea, but my heart has always been in music, and I’ve always known that I’m going to go after that first.

And have you ever thought about performing in Spanish?
Holly: I have thought about that. I think it would be really different, and it would shock people. And people would either really love it or really hate it, I’m not really sure yet. But that might be something to interesting to try in the future.

Cathia, is it true that you are studying Music Business? Is that a direction that you would see yourself continuing in? And maybe what, in particular about the business appeals to you?
Cathia: Well yes. I’m studying Music Business at Baruch College in New York. It was more of like my backup plan, because my goal is to be on stage and to make a living off of that that, and sing. But I did – I’ve always been very interested in the music business itself. Like what happens behind scenes, and the whole business aspect of it. Just because a lot of my family have gotten degrees in Business. So I definitely wanted to see that as well, and that side of the music industry. So I thought that would be my backup plan. But my main goal was always to sign before, yes.

Do you think that the two are mutually exclusive, like you have to only focus on one or the other?
Cathia: I think so actually. And – well you can try to do both, which is what I was trying to do, but when you get into the business side of things, it gets very academically challenging. Like I had to take a bunch of economic and Calculus course, so it was definitely interesting. And I did try to balance both as much as I could. But I do try – I do think that you should really put more of your energy in one.

Michelle, what appealed to you about THE VOICE, considering you were already part of band and had put out some music?
Michelle: Let’s see. Well THE VOICE just seemed to have such a positive message and vibe. There was no part that tore anyone down, or said like, “Ha-ha these people didn’t make it.” And so I’m really, really vibe with that. And wanted to help support a show that spread a positive message and have it hopefully support me. And I just saw the show and it looked like a place that, you know, I hoped and felt that I could call like a family and a home for a certain amount of time. And so I just kept trying, I tried three times. And the third time seemed to work out for me.

Vedo, can you describe how much interaction you get with your teammates? As the viewer, we usually see one or two people at a time in a room with Usher, so it’s unclear how much you all get to kind of hang out together or work together.
Really man, we all interact well man. We actually – we see each other every day, we talk to each other every day, man. We’re like a big ole family man, for real. So although people see that we’re only in there with a couple people, but we in there with everybody. Everybody is like family, everybody is funny and cracking jokes. You know, make fun of each other. That’s just the way – that’s just how we do it. So we interact with each other a lot. And we become closer man.

As theTVaddict.com predicted, last night’s THE VOICE finale was a photo finish between Florida native and iTunes darling Cassadee Pope and Scottish rocker Terry McDermott. After months of incredible performances, America decided that Cassadee is THE VOICE. Even though Terry and Minnesota soul man Nicholas David did not take home the top prize, that doesn’t mean that either are going home losers. All three have accomplished amazing feats, including performing with music legends, gaining legions of fans, and topping the iTunes singles charts. theTVaddict.com was on hand to talk to the contestants, coaches, and music legend Peter Frampton. Check out what they had to say about the end of the competition and the futures of the finalists after the jump.

Last night’s two-hour THE VOICE finale was a night of remarkable performances. Music superstars The Killers, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, and Kelly Clarkson rocked the stage alongside the finalists. Former contestants returned for group performances, and each of the contestants sang with special musical guests. After performing several of her songs throughout the season, Cassadee Pope had the chance to sing with her idol, Avril Lavigne. Nicholas David hit the stage with Motown legend Smokey Robinson. Terry McDermott could barely contain his joy while performing with British rocker Peter Frampton. It was an avalanche of talent that culminated in Cassadee taking home the top prize.

When the competition ended, the current and future superstars took to the Red Carpet to share their thoughts with theTVaddict.com

After being in the music business for decades, Peter Frampton hesitated to endorse a music competition as a path to superstardom. But, after watching Terry perform, he overcame his reality TV aversion. Peter has confidence in Terry’s ability to persevere now that the competition is over.

While there can only be one winner, each of these diverse artists came out on top. Blake Shelton has now been the coach for two winners, which means he will likely attract the cream of the crop when season four begins in the spring. But, before that happens, Blake wants to make sure that Cassadee and Terry take advantage of their growing fan bases and put out some music in the New Year.

While Terry did not take home the top prize, he had no complaints about his experience on THE VOICE. Terry got the blessing of Paul McCartney to perform “Let It Be” and shared the stage with Peter Frampton. These are the things of rock ‘n’ roll dreams. Audiences have definitely not heard the last of Terry.

Nicholas David’s journey to THE VOICE stage was a surprise even to him. Now that the competition is over, he can spend some quality time with his family, as he and his wife prepare for the arrival of their third child. That doesn’t mean that Nicholas is stepping away from his piano. Nicholas reflected back on his decision to try out for THE VOICE and what he hopes to accomplish in the future. Note to Disney – Nicholas is a diehard Disney fan and wants nothing more than to voice a character in a Disney movie. Make it so.

After seeing her rendition of Faith Hill’s “Cry” top the iTunes singles chart last night, Cassadee Pope had a strong suspicion that she would be taking home the top honor. With this significant accomplishment under her belt, Cassadee has no plans to rest. She hopes to release a single within a month and is taking Blake’s advice to strike while the iron is hot. Above all else, Cassadee is ambitious, gracious, and grateful. This combination will help transform her into the next Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood.

theTVaddict.com congratulates all of the contestants on their amazing accomplishments and looks forward to seeing what they do next. In the New Year, theTVaddict.com will bring an inside look at the upcoming season of THE VOICE, which will feature new coaches Shakira and Usher.

Voting has closed, and the fate of THE VOICE finalists Cassadee Pope, Terry McDermott and Nicholas David will be revealed on tonight’s live finale. It will be a difficult choice considering the varied styles of the artists. Cassadee has leaned more country in recent weeks, Terry is the quintessential rocker, and Nicholas is a soul man. Any of these three deserves the title of THE VOICE. Who will come out on top? Last week theTVaddict predicted it would come down to a battle between Terry and Cassadee, and this still appears to be the case. theTVaddict went stage-side last night to find out all the behind the scenes scoop and then hit the red carpet with the contestants. Check out our thoughts on the final performances and videos interviews with the contestants after the jump. Also let us know who you think will take home the top prize.

Last Night’s Best Performance: The duet with CeeLo and Nicholas David was phenomenal. Amidst acrobats, go-go dancers, and a horn section, the coach and his protégée gave a house shaking rendition of Wild Cherry’s “Play That Funky Music.” CeeLo has stated in the past that he is not the strongest coach vocally, but he proved otherwise last night. Hands down, though, the best moment of the entire show was when CeeLo and Nicholas sang shoulder to shoulder, and when they moved apart, there was a mini CeeLo dancing behind them. Adam Levine was close to falling out of his chair he was laughing so hard. It was priceless when CeeLo told his Mini Me, “You complete me.”

Most Surprising Final Performance: Again, this has to go to Nicholas David. Nicholas has given stellar performances all season, but last night he exploded out of his shell. Gone were the tender ballads and soulful crooning. Nicholas came out with piano blazing for a mash-up of Jerry Lee Lewis’ “Great Balls of Fire” and Jimi Hendricks’ “Fire.” Not only was there a crazy display of pyrotechnics, but Nicholas busted out some dance moves that impressed even Adam. It was the perfect way to end the season for Nicholas. It showed that he is not just a powerful singer, but someone who could put on a great show for a concert audience.

Most Disappointing Performance: Cassadee is without question an amazing singer. However, last night Nicholas and Terry went for it with big, rousing performances. Cassadee played it safe with another country ballad, Faith Hill’s “Cry.” This performance highlighted Cassadee’s vocal strength, but failed to wow. She sang at her highest and loudest for most of the song, meaning that there wasn’t an opportunity for the audience to build up to the emotional moments. It would have been better if she’d chosen a song that was recognizable to a broader audience.

Best/Worst Dressed: Usually, the best would go to Cassadee, and the worst would be a battle between Christina and CeeLo. Last night, Cassadeee remained the best with a stunning mirrored gown, that Adam couldn’t stop remarking was “so shiny.” For worst, it is a tough call. CeeLo had an ostentatious zebra number, but it was cute when his Mini Me wore a tiny version of the same outfit. Christina had an absurdly small, sequined top hat that was pretty bad. But, a dark horse came in and stole the worst dressed spot. During Terry’s and Blake’s performance of Aerosmith’s “Dude Looks Like A Lady,” Adam emerged on stage shirtless with a long red wig and glasses. While the girls in the audience swooned over his bare chest, he actually looked more like an emaciated Anthony Kiedis.

Most Touching Moment: There were several touching moments in the video vignettes, including the surprise visit of Terry McDermott’s father from Scotland, and Nicholas’ wife talking about wanting him to pursue his dreams. But, without a doubt, the opening performance of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” in honor of those killed in Newton, Connecticut last week, was the most heart wrenching. While viewers saw the performance once, the audience sat silently through multiple, flawless takes, with many fighting back tears.

Tune in tonight at 8/7c on NBC (CTV in Canada) to find out who will be THE VOICE, follow @LaVaudreuil for live tweets from THE VOICE studio as the action unfolds, and check-in with theTVaddict.com for coverage of the finale’s red carpet.

By: Courtney Vaudreuil

It might be bad luck to make a prediction before tonight’s elimination on THE VOICE, but I have a gut feeling that Trevin Hunte will be going home to Georgia. Trevin is an amazing singer, but his song choice last night, “Wind Beneath My Wings” was a mistake. It’s not old enough to be a classic and not new enough to be relevant. No doubt, this explains Trevin’s failure to make it onto the iTunes top 10 singles chart.

This is one aspect of the competition that I have found troubling since the live rounds began. If a competitor makes it into the iTunes top 10 singles chart after his or her performance, their votes are multiplied by 10. It almost feels like vote buying. This can make a huge difference if the number of votes is close. In weeks past, Trevin has made it onto the top 10 singles chart, but not last night. This has nothing to do with Trevin’s talent and more to do with people not being interested in his song. Hopefully, if Trevin does go home, he will carry with him the confidence of having been in the top 4 and will continue to pursue his music.

By contrast, Terry McDermott and Cassadee Pope flew to the top of the iTunes chart, with Nicholas David not far behind. Cassadee took on Keith Urban’s “Stupid Boy.” Though a segment of the viewership might not be familiar with Keith Urban’s music, Urban won a Grammy award for his performance of the song in 2008. Thus, there is a significant demographic that could recognize it. Even though I had never heard the song, Cassadee inspired an emotional response with her strong performance and the song’s sweet, sad lyrics. Terry closed the show with The Beatles’ “Let It Be.” The coaches’ recognized that such an iconic song by such an iconic band can be sacred ground that most singers should steer clear of. But, Terry’s rendition was beautiful and moving. Since the beginning of the competition, Terry has delivered consistently perfect performances.

Though I have been a champion of Nicholas David throughout the season, and still believe he is a rare talent, I’m not sure that his unique style will be able to trump the more commercial sounds of Cassadee and Terry. Because the finale will feature the top 3 contestants, Nicholas will likely move through to next week. In order to have any chance of leapfrogging over Cassadee or Terry, Nicholas will have to go big, and I’m not sure he has it in him at this point.

Do you agree that it is down to Terry and Cassadee for the top spot? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and be sure to watch tonight’s elimination at 8/7c on NBC. Also be sure to keep checking into theTVaddict.com for behind the scenes coverage of THE VOICE through the end of the season.
