Christopher Egan
Latest Gig: Portraying <a href="http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/03/04/poe-chris-egan/' target="newwindow">Edgar Allan Poe in ABC’s Sherlock Holmes-esque crime fighting series POE.
Why We’re Excited: Well, if 13 episodes of holding ones own against Ian McShane (aka. the small screen version of Daniel Day-Lewis) in NBC’s short-lived KINGS proved anything, it’s that Aussie import Christopher Egan is a lot more than just a pretty face. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Liza Weil
Latest Gig: According to Deadline Hollywood, Liza Weil has just been added to Shonda Rhimes’ ABC drama pilot DAMAGE CONTROL, an ensemble based on the career of legendary crisis management consultant Judy Smith.
Why We’re Excited: Umm… if you have to ask, you clearly never saw her scene-stealing after scene-stealing turn as Paris Geller on GILMORE GIRLS. Emphasis on the scene-stealing.

Matt Long
Latest Gig: Sees Long signing onto join BATTLESTAR GALACTICA alums James Callis, Tricia Helfer and Jamie Bamber in Ron Moore’s Harry Potter meets NYPD BLUE pilot 17th PRECINCT.
Why We’re Excited: His work on the WB’s brilliant-but-cancelled JACK & BOBBY (Which by the way if you haven’t seen is a free must watch over on thewb.com) was supposed to be the start of a memorable career, not the end.

Becki Newton
Latest Gig: According to TVLine, “The UGLY BETTY MVP has signed on to star in a CBS comedy pilot that revolves around a blue-collar man who lives under the same roof with his wife, their grown daughter (Newton) and her 12-year-old son, and his recently widowed mother.”
Why We’re Excited: After being the first BETTY cast member snapped up following the ABC show’s UGLY demise, what should have been a seamless transition to her own starring vehicle (LOVE BITES) was stalled courtesy of NBC’s inept management. Suffice to say, Becki deserves better and hopefully a CBS comedy pilot is a step in the right direction.

Emily VanCamp
Latest Gig: According to Deadline Hollywood, Emily VanCamp has landed the lead role in REVENGE, a contemporary re-imagining of The Count of Monte Cristo.
Why We’re Excited: Honestly, as much as we’re contractually obligated to love any project involving an EVERWOOD alum, VanCamp’s arc on BROTHERS & SISTERS was one seemingly never-ending downer. Hopefully the reverse of which is this tale of a mysterious woman (VanCamp) who comes to the Hamptons to exact exact revenge on the people who destroyed her family.

After almost seven seasons of mystery and mayhem, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES’ uncanny ability to keep us on our toes has never ceased to amaze. Unfortunately, the most amazing thing about this season thus far has been the shabby treatment of star Vanessa Williams. Despite the show’s spotty track record when it comes to handling new additions to Wisteria Lane (see: Alfre Woodard, Dana Delany, Drea De Mateo, among others), words cannot express our shock and awe as to the way in which creator Marc Cherry, not to mention the entirety of the HOUSEWIVES writing staff have handled the award-winning Williams. Once a staple in our weekly collection of TV quotes of the week courtesy of her flair for transforming even the smallest line of dialogue into a memorable one, this season of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES has relegated her to little more than a bit player. An ugly role that is not at all befitting a talent who consistently had us in stitches for the better part of four season on UGLY BETTY. We’re just sayin’

From Wilhelmina to Wisteria Lane, actress Vanessa Williams didn’t waste anytime finding herself a plum gig following ABC’s UGLY cancellation of BETTY last spring. But just what is Williams doing on the Lane and more importantly, whom? We caught up with the talented actress earlier in the week to find out just that.

Aside from your character’s seemingly endless string of deliciously wicked one-liners, what do you hope UGLY BETTY is remembered for?
Vanessa Williams: Being unique. It was like nothing else in terms of dialogue, camera shots, wardrobe, characters, ensemble. We got a chance to really do a show on our own terms which was really is an opportunity that doesn’t come along often. It was a delight.

Do you as an actor mourn the loss of a television series as much as us viewers, or do you see it as more of a job where you welcome the change to do something else?
Oh no, in terms of BETTY it was a tough thing to let go of just because we had such a stellar last season where it just seemed like everything was firing on all cylinders. Between the pilot in New York, moving to Los Angeles, the Writer’s Strike and then moving back to New York, we had finally just kind of relaxed into where things should have been. Yet just as we found our groove, the plug was pulled! We definitely mourned the show and I actually just saw Becki [Newton] at her baby shower on Sunday with Anna [Ortiz] and Marc Indelicato. You know, if we got a phone call that said “Guess what, it’s back on!” I’m sure we’d all jump at the opportunity.

How did the opportunity to appear on DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES come about, where you actively looking for another series?
I was completely open. I was on Broadway doing an eight show week with Sondheim On Sondheim and I didn’t really know what was going to happen during the summer because it was wide open, Sondheim was a limited run. So when I got the call from [DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES creator] Marc Cherry about joining the show I really had nothing planned. The show is such a well-oiled machine and it would give me an opportunity to create a new character within the safety of having a show that is successful worldwide. Marc is a big fan of musical theatre, saw me on Broadway, and I knew he had a sensibility of what I could bring to the show. It’s nice to be wanted, that’s the bottom line. And when people say we value you, we know you’re available and we’ll make it worth your while, you can’t really say no.

How different is the character you’re playing on DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES from Wilhelmina Slater?
Renee, who comes to Wisteria Lane to visit Lynette who happens to be her old college roommate is a bit passive aggressive and definitely ruffles the feathers of a lot of the woman on the Lane. She’s certainly not as fierce as Wilhelmina Slater by any means, but she’s a personality to be reckoned with within a suburban environment.

Traditionally, new arrivals to the Lane bring with them a terrible secret or dark past. Just how much do you know about your character?
If there is a dark past to Renee, they haven’t told me yet! I don’t think there’s anyone I’ve killed so far in, which I guess bodes well because that means maybe I’m seen more as a regular than a temporary phenomenon. But it all depends on the writers, Marc Cherry and the Network. So we’ll see. What I can tell you is that there’s a little fling with Brian Austin Green’s character, that’s all I know so far and that’s only been up to episode six. Who knows who’s coming later on!

You can catch the seventh season premiere of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES this Sunday September 26 at 9PM on ABC (7PM on CTV in Canada)

Although we’re hesitant to speak ill of the dead, we’d be lying if we came out this morning and flat-out gushed about last night’s UGLY BETTY series finale. Sure, the episode had its highlights, with notable shout-outs going to the way in which Betty and Daniel’s future in London was left up to interpretation and as always, anything that comes out of of the mouth of Willy (“I never thought I’d say this, but you’ve got big balls, Betty Suarez.”) That said, we couldn’t help but feel that in the end, the finale, to borrow a line from Amanda, came off like a bit of a hot mess. Be it a result of the recent string of phenomenal episodes capped off by last week’s beautiful wedding, or the obvious lack of time Silvio Horta and Co. were given by ABC to wrap up half-a-dozen story lines mid-season, Betty’s bon voyage — in an effort to give each and every character their own happily-ever-after — ended up far more convoluted and rushed than one would have liked. So much so that our fingers will remain crossed that the creative team will be given the opportunity to rectify the situation when it comes to the inevitable big screen reunion. Or as Amanda might once again put it: Rumor started here, bitches!

In between Phil’s hilariously awkward one-liners (“I’m gonna introduce him to the Captain… and Tenille”) and Cam’s equally awkward party conversation (“Business partners, mergers and acquisitions. Just kidding, we’re gay!”) there was only one downside to last night’s hilarious MODERN FAMILY. Echoing the sentiments of the [almost] always spot on @hitfixdaniel, I will never be able to afford a beachfront property like special guest star’s Justin Kirks, which next to the Greystone’s (CAPRICA) stunning mansion that comes equipped with walls that turn into an enormous television — now ranks, alongside the Cohen’s infinity pool palace on THE OC, right up there as one of our favorite homes on the small screen.

Continuing along the theme of cash-strapped comes one of our favorite fictional families, the Hecks. On last night’s episode of THE MIDDLE, Frankie and Mike had to decide between cutting the cable and keeping the power on. Now, putting aside the obvious fact that there is nothing ever funny about even considering cutting the cable, one thing continues to bug us about this show: Namely, Frankie’s seemingly endless promotion of fellow ABC shows. Seriously. Not an episode goes by without Frankie mentioning a recent instalment of DANCING WITH THE STARS she just watched, or in the case of last night’s episode both THE BACHELOR and CONVEYOR BELT OF LOVE. Perhaps if Frankie got paid for her shilling, her family’s financial problems would be solved! We’re just sayin’

Since I know you probably can’t spoil what goes down in tonight’s LIFE UNEXPECTED season finale (Yes CW, you heard me, season finale!), can you at the very least let me know if we’ve seen the last of Lux’s almost boyfriend Jones? With apologies to Bug, I’m totally on #teamabercrombie! — Jessica
The TV Addict: If it’s Austin Butler you want, we’ve got some bad news for you. According to sources, and by sources we’re of course referring to the internet movie database, Jones’ invite to tonight’s big LIFE UNEXPECTED wedding may have gotten lost in the mail. But, the good news is that if things go according to plan, you may be seeing a lot more of Mr. Butler next season if the CW picks up BETWIXT, a pilot he’s shooting alongside Jessy Shram and Morgan Bower which revolves around three teens who discover they’re actually changelings. Of course that shouldn’t stop you from watching our favorite CW show’s season finale tonight at 8PM.

As much as I’m trying to keep holding on, tomorrow night is too far away! Please give me some scoop on GLEE’s return to tide me over. — Amy
The TV Addict: Well, since you asked so nicely, you’ll be happy to know — complete with musical numbers that are already stuck in our head (thank-you-very-much All-American Rejects), Sue Sylvester one-liners that we’re still laughing at, and guest stars that well, defy gravity — Tuesday’s return is quintessential GLEE. And best of all, it’s only the beginning. In fact, of the first three episodes we’ve been lucky enough to screen including the highly-anticipated Madonna one, it might surprise you to learn that the third episode, which shines the spotlight on Mercedes packed the biggest emotional punch and truly solidified this show as something special.

Full disclosure: I’m obsessed with Quinn and Puck. To the point where I’m this close to convincing my boyfriend to shave his head like Mark Salling! What can fans expect from McKinley High’s hottest couple when GLEE returns? — Allison
The TV Addict: Firstly, should your boyfriend decide to go ahead with the “Full Puck,” please be sure to email us a photo next Halloween! Secondly, we’ve got some bad news for you. The downside to having remarkable guest stars like Spring Awakening’s Jonathan Groff, a serious bump in screen time for the always hilarious Santana and Britney, not to mention a Madonna episode with nine — yes nine — songs, is that something has to give. And that something, at least over the course of the first three episodes back is screen time for some of your favorites like Puck and Quinn whose relationship is barely an issue.

Should UGLY BETTY fans be worried that Wilhelmina took a bullet in last week’s episode? — Dante
The TV Addict: In a word: No. But what BETTY fans should be worried about is that in the world of Mode anything can happen and Wednesday series finale —which kicks off with a funeral, features the surprising return of an ex-lover and includes the words “Betty I can’t live without you.” — is no exception.

Will “Detty” (Daniel and Betty) shippers be smiling when the credits roll on Wednesday’s UGLY BETTY season finale? — Mimi
The TV Addict: Tough question. Without giving too much away, let’s just say that every character ends up in a better place from the time the series started.

Could not love VAMPIRE DIARIES any more, got any spoilers for me? — Alyssa
The TV Addict: The 20th episode of the season is called “Blood Brothers,” and as you’ll see from the photo below, there’s a very good reason why.

It feels like forever since we’ve had any news on HOW I MET YOU MOTHER, any news? — Lani
The TV Addict: The good news is that now that March Madness is over, CBS is finally taking HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER off the bench. The bad news: Both Ted and Barney will soon realize (Monday May 3 to be exact) that they want Robin back now that they see things getting serious with Don.

So excited to finally meet John May on tomorrow night’s V! Anything to tease? — Mike
The TV Addict: We too couldn’t be more excited for Tuesday’s highly-anticipated “John May” episode, which is why we posed your question to the always fantastic to talk to albeit somewhat cagey star Joel Gretsch (Father Jack) who would only go as far as to reveal the following, “I remember reading this episode [that is airing Tuesday] and sending an email to Scott Rosenbaum and the writers saying how very emotional it was. The episode just reveals so many things and solidifies the resistance. Things that get revealed help us [the resistance] understand more and more of each other. Even though we’re trying to accomplish the same goal, we don’t know each other very well, especially the Hobbes character. John May is kind of the epicenter of what’s to come about. It’s going to be a very very exciting episode.”

I’ve been hearing rumblings of a Leonard and Penny break up on THE BIG BANG THEORY, any truth to the rumors? — Lani
The TV Addict: As much as we’d like to respond to your irresponsible rumourmongering with a, “Whatcha talking about WIllis?” Alas, we cannot. Because according to our sources, things between Leonard and Penny will get so bad that the May 3rd episode entitled “The Spaghetti Catalyst” will see sheldon going to extremes to keep them both happy.

There are two type of actors in this world. The kind of actor who leaves the fans responsible for her twenty million dollar per movie paycheque high and dry to <strike>shoot movies</strike> focus on their family. And Lauren Vélez. An actress who spent the better part of her DEXTER hiatus playing a love interest for Ignacio Suarez on UGLY BETTY and was cool enough to drop by Wednesday’s penultimate episode for what in essence amounted to little more than a cameo appearance. Albeit a very important one that not only added to Hilda’s beautiful wedding, but left fans with the distinct impression that Ignacio — who odds are isn’t going to get much of send-off in what will surely be a jam-packed BETTY finale next week — will get his happily every after after-all. Our hat goes off to you Lauren Vélez. Rest of Hollywood, take note.

As much as we loved virtually every aspect of last night’s penultimate UGLY BETTY — with notable mentions going to Mark putting the kibosh on the Suarez “We’re okay with you being gay!” party for Justin, the entirety of Hilda’s wedding that may-or-may-not have had us reaching for the kleenex, and Betty dropping Henry like a sponsor who just learned about the existence of yet another “FOT” (Friend of Tiger Woods) — we did have one tiny little issue with the episode that we simply have to get off our chest. Namely, that of Daniel and Betty. Quick, what’s Spanish for “Please God No!”

With apologies to “Detty” shippers everywhere, please count us among those who hope that last night’s Daniel/Betty tease, combined with the photo Ausiello leaked earlier in the week is simply a case of classic misdirection on behalf of maniacal showrunner Silvio Horta. Seriously. BETTY is at its ugliest when the show focused on which guy Betty bedded, a number which incidentally was astoundingly high for someone so “ugly!” (see: Walter, Henry, Gio, Matt etc.) At least from our perspective, endlessly quotable barbs tossed out by Willamina, Marc and Amanda on a week-in-and-week-out basis aside, the core of the show has always been about watching our heroine fight — often times hilariously so — to make it at Mode while still holding on to her uniquely Suarez roots. Which is why we’re hoping that when the credits roll at the end of next week’s finale, Betty takes a page from Kelly Taylor’s playbook by choosing “Me!”

Question: I’m super excited for tonight’s return of CASTLE thanks in no small part to a guest appearance by woefully underused ‘Housewife’ Dana Delany. Have you seen the episode, and if so, how is she? — Jessica
The TV Addict: While I could tell you an awful lot about Delany’s role playing an FBI investigator who arrives on the scene hot on the trail of a serial killer in part one of tonight’s CASTLE two-parter, we have a feeling that you’d get a little more out of talking to the actress herself, who I had a chance to chat with earlier today. “My character Jordan Shaw is there as the ghost of Christmas future for Beckett,” said Delaney. “She’s living proof that you can have a family, a child and be kick-ass in your job, so Beckett shouldn’t shy away from having romance in her life.”

Question: Castle, Beckett, please tell me an aspect of tonight’s massively hyped two-parter involves romantic sparks flying every which way! — Megan
The TV Addict: Today my friend is your lucky day, for aside from guaranteeing you that Castle and Beckett spend the night together, the episode ends with some serious sparks. Although, now that I think of it, said sparks may not exactly be of the romantic variety. Stay tuned.

Question: LOVED last week’s UGLY BETTY. For the love of Gucci, please tell me we haven’t seen the last of Justin and his maybe boyfriend Austin. — Mikey
The TV Addict: As evidence by this pic we snagged of Austin (Ryan McGinnis) from the upcoming (Spoiler Alert!) wedding of Hilda and Bobby, I would hazard to guess that we haven’t.

Question: Since I’m guilty of stalking you from afar via Twitter, I understand that you were on the set of FRINGE last week. Spoilers now! — Dave
The TV Addict: Good News: My two-day visit to the set of FRINGE last week perfectly coincided with the arrival of a very special guest star and the construction of some very interesting new set pieces. Bad News: None of which I can share with you having signed my first born and 52″ flat screen TV away to FOX should I divulge any of the particulars. That said, I can assure you that when FRINGE returns on April 1st, fans will not be disappointed. Not only does the flashback heavy episode entitled “Peter” answer some big mythological questions, it brilliantly sets the stage for an epic latter half of the season.

Question: Got any scoop on THE VAMPIRE DIARIES? — Montana
The TV Addict: Actually, yes. You know that recently-unlocked vault in which Katherine and the other blood suckers had been locked for years? Expect a very bad vamp named Frederick to be among those returning to Mystic Falls. He’ll be played by soap vet Stephen Martines (ex-Nikolas, GENERAL HOSPITAL) and rumor has it his new character will be very, very nasty. In fact, he might just throw a scare into demonic Damon!

Question: Is it true that the guy who plays THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Adam used to be on VERONICA MARS? Can you tell me who he played? — Taylor
The TV Addict: Yup! Michael Muhney played corrupt Sheriff Lamb on MARS is now playing a character who makes that guy look like the nicest fellow in the world. As Y&R’s Adam, Muhney’s new alter ego caused Ashley to fall down the stairs and lose her baby. When she blacked the whole thing out and suffered a hysterical pregnancy, he then stole Sharon’s baby and let Ashly thing it was her own. To top the whole thing off, he then married Sharon! Now that his scheme is being exposed, expect to see Adam’s life take a few very nasty turns in the coming weeks!

Will Booth and Brennan fans be pleased with the upcoming 100th episode? — Stacey
The TV Addict: In a word, yes. In 9 very cryptic and highly ambiguous words that leave a lot to interpretation for fear of ruining all the fun of BONES’ fantastic 100th episode: Things between Booth and Brennan get very physical. Literally.

Love V, hate Tyler. He’s my generation’s Wesley Crusher. Please tell me Tyler won’t continue to annoy the bejesus out of me when the show returns next week? — Dixon
The TV Addict: Having not seen any of the new episodes, I in fact, cannot assure that Tyler won’t continue to annoy the bejesus out of you. What I can reveal, having spent some quality one-on-one time time with his portrayer Logan Huffman while on the set of V last week, is that your perception of Tyler may soon change. “I too thought Tyler was a whiney little b*tch,” explained Huffman on his initial reaction to his small screen alter-ego. “In fact, my main goal was for the audience to not like Tyler, because at one point in the not-to-distant-future, the audience will see why he acts the way he does and what happened that was so traumatizing that he would be drawn to seek this new and beautiful glory with the V.”
