This past weekend, the TV Addict took a break from the small screen to check out Scream 4 on the big one. And while the movie was far from perfect (Seriously folks, can somebody please explain to the denizens of Woodsboro that when you live in a town with a very bloody history of gruesome killings, it probably wouldn’t be the worst idea to walk around with a Kevlar Vest!) we couldn’t help but chuckle at the plethora of TV teens who met their untimely demise at the hands of Ghostface. What’s more, on the off chance there is a Scream 5, we didn’t want to miss this opportunity to offer up a few of our not-so-favorite TV teen characters for Kevin Williamson and Co’s consideration should he be so inclined.

GOSSIP GIRL’s Vanessa Abrams
When the best thing one can say about a character after almost four seasons on the air is how thankful we are that television’s most notorious wet blanket has been pretty much missing in action for the majority of GOSSIP GIRL’s fourth season, you know it’s time to go.

90210′s Adrianna Tate-Duncan
If there’s one thing that we’ve learned about no-drama Adrianna following three tumultuous seasons on 90210 — well, aside from the fact that she really needs to do a better job when it comes to giving herself a nickname — it’s that be it cheating, lying, or stealing, there is nothing she won’t do to extend her fifteen minutes of fame. And let’s face it, in this increasingly crowded media landscape, what better way to ensure your name will forever live on in infamy than by dying at the hand of one of America’s most notorious serial killers.

GLEE’s Rachel Berry
Now far be it from us to do GLEE writers Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan’s job. But we just can’t help but feel that the mysterious disappearance by spotlight-stealing, attention-addicted, sweater-sporting overachiever that is Rachel Berry would do wonders for the careers of under-utilized members of New Directions like Tina and Mercedes. We’re just sayin.

V’s Tyler Evans
Despite the fact that Lisa 2.0 already took out a sizeable chunk out of Tyler’s neck and executive producer Scott Rosenbaum was kind enough to have go on record by swearing that television’s most grating teenager won’t be back should V be lucky enough to see a third season, we’re just going go ahead and play it safe by booking Tyler a one-way trip to Woodsboro.

Absolutely any cast member on THE SECRET LIFE OF THE AMERICAN TEENAGER
Needless to say, if you have to ask why, you clearly have yet to see the show.

V
Appearing for the V panel was creator/producer Scott Rosenbaum, along with stars Elizabeth Mitchell and Marc Singer. Each appeared stunned and grateful at the loyal fans’ appreciation and was effusive in turn for the dedication and support. While the show is still technically “on the bubble” and a third season in no way guaranteed, they were still excited about the possibility of another season and had lots of ideas to share about what they hope to see next.

As Elizabeth Mitchell candidly admitted, “There’s something in me that wants to talk less and fight more!” After brutally losing her son and holding her ex-husband as he died in her arms, surely Erica Evans’ days of hiding in the shadows and tentatively striking back against the Visitors is over. Thus, should a third season be granted, Elizabeth is looking forward to kicking some well-deserved alien butt!

On the lighter side, Elizabeth would also love to portray the scenes where she finds out about Tyler’s death and Hobbes’ betrayal. Between the newly infused kick-ass role and its tender emotional-side, Elizabeth relishes the chance to portray the full spectrum of emotion. The razor-sharp edge of combined rage and anguish would be her dream-come-true.

When queried about whether any of the characters who looked dead in the season two finale will actually stay dead, producer Scott Rosenbaum coyly teased, “How dead is dead? On this show, you never know!”

Talking about Tyler’s infamous death scene in the finale, Elizabeth shared “I really love Logan [Huffman] and enjoy working with him so much, so I’m sad that [Tyler] is dead.” She also predicted that when Erica learns about her son’s death that “someone is going to have to physically stop her — and as we’ve seen with Erica, that might be hard!”

Other things that may come up next season, which would have been shown in the second season finale had there been more time, such as: Erica’s discovery that Hobbes was involved with her ex-husband’s death and a possible romance with Jack. With Hobbes on the run, and Jack ex-communicated from the church and moving in with Erica (temporarily), there has been a shift in Erica’s romantic interests. Elizabeth described one of the cut scenes as, “There’s a scene that they never showed, where Father Jack moves in and he gets really close to her — and she just looks at him like, ‘Whoa! Ok . . .’ we shot it, and it was really fun. There’s got to be something there.” For fans looking to check-out those sexy scenes, Elizabeth revealed, “We had far more romantic tension scenes, but they were all cut. So they should be on the DVD.” She also laughingly shared that she has no preference as to who Erica ends up with as both Jack and Hobbes are “hot guys” and that she just appreciated Erica getting a chance to hook-up with one of them!

Another big chuck that was cut from the finale that would have explained a bit more about Hobbes’ hasty departure was briefly explained as well. Apparently, when Hobbes and Ryan went up to the Mother Ship, Diana tripped a tracking device the minute she left her cell. That warned Hobbes that his cover was potentially blown and he vanished to save his own skin.

Looking to the future, Marc Singer’s character Lars Tremont will feature prominently in Project Aries. Elizabeth excitedly described it as, “Project Aries really started something completely new. I think having that power behind our tiny little group is really exciting. It gives them something to draw from – I mean, they’ve got nuclear weapons!” Thus, in season three, Elizabeth wants Erica to rise to the occasion. She explained, “I would like her to be a nothing-to-lose — incredibly strong — incredibly intelligent character. . . I feel that maybe we can out think [the Visitors].” She further added, “We are talking about the reptilian brain, which is mostly just instinct. So with a combination that we have and so many gifts and so many things we can do, I think that Erica is capable of it. I just want to see it happen — and I want there to be so much action. I want Marc’s character to send her out to accomplish things. That would be wonderful. That would be very cool!”

For his part, Marc is just as enthusiastically looking forward to the chance to rain down hell on the Visitors next season and is looking forward to working more with Elizabeth on the show.

As for the realistic chances of a third season, Scott was optimistic stating that they were all hopeful and that the DVR numbers are better this season. So there is always a chance. He encouraged fans to help ensure that third season by checking out Project Alice on Facebook – anything the fans can do to show their appreciation and support of the show is what is needed to reassure ABC that a third season is warranted.

HUMAN TARGET
At the HUMAN TARGET panel, which was moderated by Blastr’s Jenna Busch, in attendance were executive producer Matthew Miller, along with cast-members Mark Valley, Jackie Earle Haley and Janet Montgomery. Each candidly shared their thoughts on the new dynamic created by adding the two female characters to the team this last season and what they are hoping for in the upcoming third season.

Not even hesitating, Jackie revealed from his perspective that Ilsa and Ames definitely have changed the “all boy’s club” aspect. He even admitted, “Their presence forced a new dynamic on Chance and the guys.” He also noted that while his character Guerrero usually feels paternal towards Ames, for the most part, he is just pissed-off and just feels like tossing Ames off the nearest building. But from Janet’s perspective, she senses something else entirely. In fact, she believes there is a romantic under-current between Ames and Guerrero and she would love to see the show explore that potentially land-mine area. It could be the makings of a great relationship, or something much more explosive, but either way, it would be fun to play.

Mark also shared that he appreciates how adding the new characters has forced Chance to grow and to open-up a bit — pushing Chance to break-out of his loner life and allow himself to care for people. The first season was about reluctant trust between Chance, Winston and Guerrero; and the second season was about looking beyond themselves and becoming more a familial unit — albeit with some romantic tension.

Should a third season be forthcoming, look for a bit more of Guerrero’s backstory to be revealed — including an episode involving Guerrero’s ex-wife, who is literally the only person on the planet that he is genuinely scare of — and with good reason as his ex is currently serving time in prison. Another ex to make a return appearance will be Winston’s ex-wife Michelle when all hell-breaks-loose involving Winston’s nephew.

Also possibly returning for guest appearances are Lennie James, Tony Hale, Roger Bart and perhaps Emmanuelle Vaugier.

The entire cast also admitted to being huge fans of their own show. Mark said he likes to read each new script as if it is a comic book and even Jackie enthusiastically shared, “I’m not sure I like working on the show more — or just watching it as a fan!” As he also noted, HUMAN TARGET has the look of an action movie and it is simply incredible what they can do on the show. It is like filming a movie every 10 days.

At the end of the panel, Matt made sure to remind fans that they should use Twitter, Facebook and any other way they can think of to show Fox that they want the show back for a third season. By far, the funniest proposal came from Jackie who suggested that fans should strip-down, oil-up and videotape themselves crawling out of an air-duct like Janet did for one of the episodes last season. With that kind of visual imagery being sent into Fox, they could not possibly ignore the fans’ enthusiasm for HUMAN TARGET.

So as negotiations are ongoing to determine if the third season is a “go,” get out your body lotion and oil and make your video!

BREAKING IN
In the new Fox comedy series BREAKING IN, Christian Slater plays an independent security consultant who employs a rat-tag group of social manipulators — aka con artists and thieves — in order to test various companies’ security systems. Christian plays Oz – the man behind the curtain. Christian heads a cast of entertaining actors, including Bret Harrison, Alphonso McAuley, Trevor Moore and Odette Annabele. Being a half-hour comedy series, “Breaking In” smartly relies on its cast as a source of amusement and lively entertainment – for each is a force of personality and carry the comedy on a wave of enthusiasm.

In the press room, cast-members Christian Slater and Odette Annabele talked about what they loved about the show.

Odette described the show as THE OFFICE meets THE A-TEAM and that it is an off-beat comedy with a great team dynamic. It is an ambitious premises, but she is loving every minute of it. On the show, she plays a bad-ass safe cracker who was raised by an ex-con artist. Having grown up into the family business so to speak, she is very good at what she does. However, she has made some less than stellar decisions in her personal life which can come back to bite her a bit. Though she was quick to defend Michael Rosenbaum’s character, Dutch, who plays her boyfriend on the show. She described Dutch as the “most thoughtful douche-bag you’ll ever meet.“ He is thoughtful, adventurous, and spontaneous and that is perhaps why their dynamic works. Odette also laughingly admitted that Michael is a lot more like his character than he likes to admit.

As for Christian’s character on the show, Oz — he’s the guy in charge. He has his hands in a lot of different pockets. Christian described him as, “Oz is the kind of character with a lot of secret rooms and who is 8 moves ahead. He knows what the outcomes are going to be pretty much from the get go.” Christian admitted, “It’s a lot of fun to get the opportunity to play that character.”

So BREAKING IN, is not just a wacky, goofball comedy. As Christian hinted, “There’s a lot more going on in that office than really meets the eye — which will be revealed more and more over time.” With that kind of subtext and mystery waiting to be revealed, hopefully fans tune-in and see what’s next — which includes lots of homages and tributes to the sci-fi fans, such as Christian’s own replica copy of the Captain Kirk chair from STAR TREK and an episode set at Comic-Con where the team is tasked with protecting Goonies II.

BREAKING IN airs Wednesday nights at 9:30PM, following AMERICAN IDOL on Fox.

****

For decades the season finale of just about any television show is guaranteed to be a cliff-hanger. Why? For the simple reason that television showrunners and writers are not confident that their audience will return when the show does. They figure the best way to ensure that their existing audience is seated in front of their television is the cliff-hanger.

But here’s a small secret: viewers hate cliff-hangers. It presupposes that viewers won’t tune-in but for the cliff-hanger. When, in reality, fans of a television show are more likely to tune-in regardless of the cliff-hanger. That is why they are fans – they keep coming back. Fans by their very nature are dedicated and committed. They do not need to be toyed with and manipulated.

So in addition to making a viewer’s brain want to explode whenever they see the words “to be continued” or the episode ends without resolution to a major character’s status –cliff-hangers also do not even allow the viewer the small comfort of knowing that their favorite character will be returning; particularly as characters in jeopardy or on the brink of death are the preferred.

However, because this plot device has been utilized ad infinitum for years, fans have become a bit numb and unimpressed with cliff-hangers. Such a device is more of an annoyance and it insults the very person that the show wishes to keep when the show returns.

In recent years, cliff-hangers also have another deadly side-effect: if the show does not return, then fans are literally left hanging to wonder for eternity how things would have worked out. Before the widespread use of the Internet, it was not even possible to find out what would have happened. Today, through the use of fan sites, conventions, and Twitter, it is much easier for writers and showrunners to convey to fans the “what would have happened” had the show continued storylines.

But for the vast number of viewers who are not so “plugged in,” they will always wonder. It is a bone-of-contention — the not knowing what would have come next. It can rub away at the brain for years – becoming an increasingly sensitive sore spot if anyone were to bring up the show and how it simply stopped and never ended.

While it is not new that some shows do not get sufficient notice to wrap-up or conclude their storylines before receiving notice that their show has been cancelled, it is rather new that some shows are willfully choosing to disregard the writing-on-the-wall. It has become a standard showrunner’s ostrich-tactic to deny the impending death-knell and protest to the bitter-end that there could be a last minute reprieve.

But such willful blindness to the harsh realities of television is not only ludicrous, it is alienating. It is simply wrong for a showrunner to disregard the cold, hard truth that their show may get pink-slipped at the end of its season or will not receive the coveted “back nine” episode order – or worse yet, could be pulled off the broadcast schedule at any moment.

This lack of foresight ultimately divides the fan-base. There are die-hard fans who will appreciate the last-stand approach and who will stand by the show even if it fails to plan for its end-date. They will still buy the DVD’s and encourage others to discover the now defunct show.

However, there are also the fans who will be outraged that the show ended without a proper ending — where characters are left disjointed, stuck in jeopardy and without seeing their favorite couples united. Nothing is more galvanizing than never seeing if a “will-they-or-won’t-they” type couple actually gets together. The lack of a payoff and/or resolution drives away the very fans that supported the show and stuck with it once it is gone. They will not buy the DVD’s and they will tell everyone they know that it was not worth watching because it failed to have an ending.

Just like movie-goers do not want to be kicked out of the theater before the movie ends, and book-readers do not want to buy half-a-book, television fans do not want to be left without resolution either.

In the case of such recent shows as LONESTAR and MY GENERATION, they were not even on the broadcast schedule long enough for anyone to fully understand what either show was about, let alone to truly become attached and mourn them when they were suddenly cancelled. But in the case of several other recent television series, they were around a lot longer and fans became much more attached and invested in the stories and characters. A few, like CAPRICA and LIFE UNEXPECTED, understand that their end-date is approaching and they make an effort to resolve their bigger storylines and place their characters in settled positions that their fans will appreciate. Such shows will be remembered fondly for their foresight, sensitivity and appreciation of their fans.

Then there are the shows that play “ostrich” and refuse to acknowledge that the end is coming. Three good examples are V, THE CAPE and STARGATE UNIVERSE. Ratings for these series have never been very high and yet ignoring the signs that these shows were in jeopardy, the showrunners deliberately chose to move forward at their leisurely pace as if they had all the time in the world to introduce and resolve their stories.

Having just watched the season finales (and most likely, the series finales) for V and THE CAPE, such stubbornness feels selfish. Just because the showrunners/writers did not want to acknowledge, let alone plan for an accelerated end-date, they literally left their viewers hanging. These are the shows that divide fans and won’t be remembered so fondly. To not see if Vince Faraday was ever reunited with his family; did Peter Fleming succumb to his alter-ego Chess; did Orwell slowly lose her mind like her father – THE CAPE never answered any of these questions. It only left fans wondering what-might-have-been. Likewise with V – it left the entire population of the planet enthralled by Anna’s bliss and vulnerable for occupation; it did not explain Hobbes’ sudden departure and abandonment of his new relationship with Erica; it did not reveal if Tyler was actually dead or would be saved by the advanced medical technology of the Visitors; and the fates of both Lisa and Chad Decker were hanging in the balance.

To conclude either of these shows at such unresolved points is painful and disillusioning. While THE CAPE only aired 9 episodes and had its final episode reserved for internet viewing and thus may not have had enough time to truly write and film a proper ending, it certainly could have added an epilogue or filmed one more scene showing Vince reunited with his family. However, in V’s case, the crime is more egregious. Being in its second season and never being a true ratings-hit, the series could have easily planned an alternate-ending episode. There was sufficient time and notice to plan for the eventuality that the show does not return for another season.

In addition to V and THE CAPE, there are several more television series that are likely to fall beneath the chopping-block this season and which should plan for an end in case they are cancelled. Currently, STARGATE UNIVERSE is airing its final 10 episodes. It has already received its cancellation notice and, while it may not be possible to film an alternate ending to wrap up the series, the show does have time to add perhaps an epilogue explaining what happened to the survivors stuck abroad the alien spaceship Destiny. Also heading smack towards cancellation is THE EVENT and perhaps FRINGE. Both have borderline ratings and could easily fall under the television guillotine.

It is time for showrunners and writers to examine the legacy of their shows. Do they want their legacy to be along the lines of: “fun show, but it never had an ending – cannot recommend it” or “fun show, cut-short before it’s time, but they at least got to wrap it up – recommend checking it out”? Television is not just entertainment for the present – it provides entertainment for the future. Several television series have secured their legacy simply by finding a way to provide closure for their fans. Two key examples were FIREFLY and PUSHING DAISIES. By hell-or-high-water those shows found a way to provide satisfying endings for their fans and they are remembered not only with fondness – but with fanatical fervor as new fans are recruited each year. There is something to be said for legacy – if only each show would take such care with their stories and characters, then they too could enter the hallowed halls of welcomed acclaim.

It is time for television to stop following the churn-and-burn philosophy as if it did not matter how a television show is remembered, and adopt an contingency plan. An exit strategy only demonstrates an appreciation of the established fans. So it is time to abolish cliff-hangers. Such cheap tricks are unwanted, unnecessary and are ruining television.

Congratulations to the the cast and creative team of V. As <a href="http://www.thetvaddict.com/2011/03/15/elizabeth-mitchell-peels-back-the-mystery-surrounding-tonights-v-finale/' target="newwindow">advertised, last night’s second season ender was a rip-roaring roller-coaster of a finale that — unlike 97.4% of the episodes that preceded it — actually managed to keep us on the edge of our seat courtesy of multiple character deaths, copious amounts of blood and a genuine bona fide game-changer of an ending that was thisclose to ensuring our support for a third season of the show.

We say “thisclose” because if we’re being honest here, our interest in championing a third season of V truly lies in showrunner Scott Rosenbaum’s ability to answer one very simple question: Is what is far and away television’s most annoying character really dead?

Suffice to say, we’ve watched more than enough science fiction (or primetime sudsers for that matter) to know that just because we saw Tyler fall victim to Anna and Bizarro-Lisa’s bloody fantastic post-coitus plan does in no way guarantee that there isn’t some sort of advanced alien technology quietly waiting in the wings to keep him alive.

Which is why, we here at theTVaddict.com have taken the liberty of <strike>hastily throwing together</strike> crafting some not-so-legal mumbo-jumbo to ensure that we’ve seen the last of the aforementioned annoyance. Rest assured, a simple “I agree” in the comments below from showrunner Scott Rosenbaum will suffice!

Dear V Fans,
I, V Showrunner Scott Rosenbaum solemnly swear that should V be lucky enough to be awarded a third season by ABC we have seen the last of Tyler Evans. Rest assured, (1) Last night’s episode was not a dream. (2) His body will not be cryogenically frozen until a cure for a fatal alien bite to the neck is found. (3) He does not have a long lost twin brother. (4) There are no such things as ghosts. (5) This isn’t LOST. (6) Or FRINGE, no alternate universes here. (7) His DNA will not be used to create an lizard clone. (8) His face will not be transplanted onto another character ala Dr. Drake Ramoray from FRIENDS.

Sincerely,
Scott Rosenbaum

On tonight’s second season finale of V, the Fifth Column will have a solid sixty minutes to fight for our planet’s future. And while forty-four minutes (subtracting for commercials!) of screen time wouldn’t normally seem like enough time for a ragtag group of freedom fighters to stave off whatever nefarious plan a royally peeved Queen “B” Anna has up her sleeve, Erica Evans is no normal freedom fighter. How’s she going to do it, what unexpected obstacles arise and of course is this the end of the line for V? We caught up with the always awesome Elizabeth Mitchell to find out.

Are you really up for saving the world in less than hour?
Elizabeth Mitchell: It’s going to be tough. Luckily there is a lot in that hour, we do get a lot accomplished! But I definitely think we need a third season to completely and completely save the earth in the fashion in which it deserves.

Adding to the complexity of tonight’s season ender is that at least according to a certain spoiler pic (above) your character seems to find herself in somewhat of a bind… literally!
Yeah, that happens too! That part was actually great because I got introduced to a very cool person (Note: For the identity of said mysterious newcomer, feel free to click here!) Plus as an added bonus, those straps those totally antique kind of things that allow me to play games with the crew. I’m basically Houdini, seeing how fast I can get out! I think it was 45 seconds on each one until they finally strapped me inso tight I was like, “Okay, sorry, I’m in here for good.” It was fun.

What does the arrival by this “very cool person” bring to the table?
Quite a lot, and it’s very exciting. That part of the episode was really fun and provides for a tremendous amount of entertainment.

Aside from this new character, the big buzz surrounding tonight’s finale is of course the death of a major character.
It’s several deaths actually and they’re all big.

Will the death be one that resonates with fans? Or is it an extra or two who were hired last week?
Regardless of who you like and who you don’t like it will be something. It isn’t a person that we hired the week before! IThere are no “red shirts!” Actually, all of the red shirts stay alive. We’re talking big deaths.

While it’s pretty safe to assume one of the big deaths won’t be your TV offspring Tyler, we’re not going to lie, we’ve talked to quite a few fans who probably wouldn’t mind seeing that. His choices this season as a character have been incredibly frustrating. Do you think there is any chance Erica will ever be able to knock some sense into the boy?
I always believe that there’s a possibility to bring Tyler back. What you have to remember is that you’re talking about a teenager during an incredibly tumultuous point in his life, so yeah I do believe he can be saved. We just need to have a little patience, we’re all crazy kids growing up, that’s what makes us so fun.

Not fun is the uncertainty of your future, have you heard anything with regards to the prospects for a third season?
I have lovely people who make daily phone calls trying to find out the answer to just that question, but I honestly haven’t heard anything. I would love to be able to tell you I have, but i think the truth is that ABC isn’t quite sure. Our numbers have been incredibly steady and with DVR we’re actually somewhat healthy so I really just think it will come down to what ABC wants next season.

The trend for actors seems to be to take a pilot as a back up plan, yet you haven’t?
I have had a couple of calls, I’ve read some lovely pilots, and I really do think that it’s going to be a fun TV season. I’ve read some really fun stuff, but i’m holding out hope we get to come back and finish what we started.

V airs Tuesday at 9PM on ABC (ATV in Canada)

Any clue on the return dates of SPARTACUS, BREAKING BAD and THE WALKING DEAD? — Sourabh
The TV Addict: As long as your definition of “clue” involves the month rather than specific dates and times, then yes, we do have plenty of clues. In chronological order, you should expect BREAKING BAD’s fourth season to premiere in July 2011, SPARTACUS Season 2 sans star Andy Whitfield who will be valiantly focusing on his health to bow September 2011, and THE WALKING DEAD to return sometime in Fall 2011. Satisfied?

Yesterday’s “blind item” was a blatant rip off of Michael Ausiello. Luckily, all will be forgiven should you provide us with an answer. — Angrodpallanen
The TV Addict: While we’re the first to admit that yesterday’s “Blind Item” wasn’t our finest hour (Note to aspiring bloggers: Juggling real life responsibilities while trying to come up with enough moderately interesting content to fill up a web site on a daily basis is easier said than done!), we hope this answer will help make amends: The show currently on the look out to cast a disapproving father who isn’t on board with his son’s sexual orientation is… drumroll please… DEGRASSI. In other words, Riley and Zane fans are in for a bumpy ride. Particularly when you also take into account a casting notice that has gone out for “Athena,” a hot and athletic 17 year old who may-or-may-not soon be playing the starring role as Riley’s “beard.”

Are they any close to getting everyone set for the next season of MAD MAN? — Ace
The TV Addict: Unfortunately, MAD MEN’s network (AMC) and studio (Lionsgate) are being surprisingly tight-lipped when it comes to these negotiations. And while we for one would be absolutely shocked if the two companies didn’t work something out, we think we speak for all interested parties when we say high level negotiations with millions upon millions of dollars at stake are far more interesting when they’re negotiated in the press. Just ask Charlie Sheen.

Any word on how big an impact original series star Mark Singer will have on V during next week’s season finale? — TVFan
The TV Addict: Not so much of a word, as much as a first look. If the photo below doesn’t scream morally ambiguous operative of a top secret government organization that isn’t quite buying what Anna and her V’s are selling… well then we don’t know what does!

Any good news for fans of NIKITA? Specifically fans of Nikita and Michael? — Kimra
The TV Addict: According to sources, the nineteenth episode of the season will see a potentially deadly situation forcing Michael and Nikita to work together as Alex’s life hangs in the balance. What’s more, it’s a night of double-crosses and high stakes that will not only be explosive, but force Michael to make a decision that may finally drive Nikita away from him forever.

Any OFFICE scoop? — Amy
The TV Addict: Rumor has it that by the end of the month, one lucky OFFICE drone will be on the receiving end of a very important question.

Any chance we’ve seen the last of Josh on CASTLE? — Dave
The TV Addict: Having just had the opportunity to screen CASTLE’s not-to-be-missed love letter to daytime entitled “One Life to Lose,” we’ve got some bad news for you. The only disappointing aspect of what is hands down the most entertaining episode of the season was Josh’s seemingly inexplicable ability to ruin what should have been yet another beautiful Castle/Beckett moment. Seriously. This guy could not have worse timing if he tried.

With tonight marking the penultimate episode of V’s much-improved second season, we thought now might be as good a time as any to catch up with the Queen V, Morena Baccarin, who was kind enough to tease what’s in store for the final two episodes, her take on V’s third season renewal chances and of course, those seemingly never-ending FIREFLY rumors.

As we head into final two episodes of V’s second season, what has surprised you most about your character?
Morena Baccarin: Probably the direction that they’ve taken Anna from this sort of stoic, in control person to a little bit out of control. I really like that and I think it gives me a lot of room to move around in as an actor and do a lot of different things. Also, the guest stars we’ve gotten on the show, it’s been super-exciting to have Jane [Badler] and Mark [Singer].

Rumors are running rampant that the finale is quite a blood bath, anything you can tease?
There are some major, major deaths that are really heartbreaking. Honestly, I couldn’t watch those scenes when we were shooting that episode, it was that heartbreaking.

How did the writers go about crafting a second season finale when they weren’t sure as to whether or not the show would be coming back for a third season?
Well, we had to wrap up some stories because it would just be mean not to. That said, there is also a feeling of continuation with a little bit of a cliffhanger that sees a sort of elevation in the battle between the V’s and humans that becomes really more evident in the finale.

What have you heard about the prospects of a third season?
Honestly, I haven’t heard anything. I kind of stay out of the press and web stuff because nobody really knows. I’m happy with the work we did this season, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Our ratings are holding in the demographic we need to, so who knows. Who knows how the new pilots for ABC are shaping up and what’s going to be important to them. All I can do is my job.

Is the role of powerless actor a frustrating one?
Yeah, it’s completely hard as an actor to have other people control your fate, but it’s kind of what I signed up for. So you just know it going in and try to stay as zen as possible about it.

A lot of actors sign onto pilots in an effort to secure a “Plan B” should the unthinkable happen, have you?
I’m not. I’m hoping V comes back so I’m just waiting like everybody else to find out what our fate is.

What type of conversation have you had with Scott Rosenbaum in terms of season 3?
I’m always bugging him, asking him what is next and of course he has some cool stories for Anna which I’m really psyched about, but you know I don’t want to know too much because I don’t want to be disappointed if the show doesn’t come back. I mean I will be anyways, but I don’t want to know.

As I’m sure you’ve heard, your former FIREFLY co-star Nathan Fillion caused quite a stir recently by casually letting it slip that should he win the lottery he’d be interested in purchasing the rights to the show and creating a FIREFLY reboot. Your reaction?
I think it’s great. I also think aren’t we getting a little too old [Laughs]

Actually, to your credit you don’t really seem to age!
Well that’s good. I think it’s cool and I think it’s awesome that he’s so passionate about it after so many years. We all really love it and I’m sure not one of us would turn it down if it became a realistic opportunity. It would be fun.

Putting on your writer’s cap for a moment, where would you like to see Anna go should there be a third season?
I would like to see Anna form an attachment, be it a romantic relationship or friendship. But something that is really deep that would force her to sort of grapple with human emotions and maybe realize that they aren’t necessarily such a bad thing.

Do you think Anna will ever see the error of her ways, is there any good in her?
I don’t know but that’s a good question. I suppose it depends on what your definition of “good” is. Because you could justify that what Anna is doing is good because she is ensuring the survival of her species.

Much to Earth’s chagrin, you sort of have a point!

Sure to add more fuel to the fire that Nathan Fillion inadvertently started by letting it slip to EW.com that the first thing he would do if he won the lottery was to buy the rights to FIREFLY and distribute it on the internet… is the news that fellow travelling companion Morena Baccarin would jump at the chance to join him.

“I think it’s awesome that Nathan is so passionate about the show after so many years,” said the actress during a one-on-one with the TV Addict earlier in the day to promote the upcoming season finale of V. “We all really love it and I’m sure not one of us would turn it down if it became a realistic opportunity.”

Of course, Bacarrain, who is now close to a decade older since stepping into the shoes of Inara Serra, arguably her most famous small screen alter-ego, did have one concern, “Aren’t we getting too old?”

For more with Morena Baccarin, including some of the heartbreak in store for V fans in the coming weeks, be sure to tune into theTVaddict.com on Tuesday.
