THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: Where We Left Off and the Burning Questions We Are Dying to Have Answered in the New Year
When last seen before the 3rd season mid-season break, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES left us hanging with a dramatic take-down, a clever chess-maneuver, and another breath-taking cliffhanger to tie fans over until the return in the New Year. Fortunately, we have reached 2012 with our hearts still beating and our minds still burning with questions.
Stefan
Where we last saw him: Taunting Klaus with the fact that he has stole Klaus’ entire family from him and taking off with Katherine for parts unknown. Stefan may have begrudgingly saved Damon’s life, but breaking Elena’s heart may be unforgivable. Stefan chose to not turn back on his emotions and reclaim his life with Elena, and instead ran off with his ex-girlfriend. Ouch!
Questions to be answered: Exactly why is Stefan choosing to team up with Katherine and leave Mystic Falls? Is he playing a martyr to draw Klaus away from everyone he loves, or does he just want to dish out some well-deserved payback on Klaus? Plus, has Stefan really disconnect and a managed to keep his human emotions turned off? And will there be more friction between Stefan and Damon since they both tried to outsmart each other in taking down Klaus? Finally, will the old rivalry for Elena’s affections arise now that Stefan is free of Klaus, or is Stefan going to be looking for a new ladylove? [Read more…]

Secrets and Lies! Alexandra Chando Dishes on the Return of THE LYING GAME
In ABC Family’s hot teen mystery series THE LYING GAME, Alexandra Chando plays twins Emma and Sutton. In the first half of this season, Sutton has her twin sister take her place so that she can track down their birth mother. But the longer that Emma pretends to be her twin, the murkier and more entangled their lives become. Sutton’s search for their birth mother unearthed a woman by the name of Annie Hobbs, who was being kept in a psychiatric care facility. In the meantime, Emma discovers that she loves Sutton’s family and has fallen in love with her sister’s boyfriend. Outraged and betrayed, Sutton returns to unmask Emma and show what a fraud she is. But at the end of the mid-season finale, things take a more sinister turn as Sutton is last seen as her car sinks to the bottom a lake with a dark figure in the back seat. In an exclusive interview, Alexandra Chando shared what’s next for the twins and how their lives are affected by Sutton’s disappearance. [Read more…]

The TV Addict’s Top 10 TV Shows of 2011
While they may not have been the year’s most critically acclaimed or the country’s most popular, each the following shows made this TV Addict’s Top 10 of ’11 for the simple reason that each week, they left us jonesing another fix. You know those people who say “less is more?” Yeah, they’re totally wrong. As the following programs prove, too much is never enough.
THE GOOD WIFE (CBS)
Since previous “Best Ofs” have already seen us shine the spotlight on the crackling chemistry that comes hand-in-hand with THE GOOD WIFE’s all-star ensemble and roster of guest stars that reads like a “Who’s Who” of Broadway, we thought we’d take this opportunity to highlight something slightly less sexy about the show that good doesn’t even begin to describe. Once thought of as the show’s achilles heel, this year saw the legal drama raise the bar on the courtroom aspect of the series thanks to sharply written and thought provoking case-of-the-weeks whose interest — unlike many shows of the same ilk — often rival that of the relationship melodrama outside of the courtroom. The Top 10 Television Shows of 2011 (A Second Opinion)
With the vast array of astoundingly good TV shows currently airing across the television landscape, it is incredibly hard to point a mere Top 10. In an effort to single out what I thought reached the Top 10 for 2011, the following are 10 shows that excelled in writing, casting, characters, cinematography, direction, production and publicity. Interestingly, 4 out of 10 of the shows are British TV shows, which just goes to show that America cannot claim exclusively to be the “best of the best.”
DOCTOR WHO
First and foremost, DOCTOR WHO takes the top crown. No matter what other critics say, it is a remarkable achievement for any TV show to continue to enthral viewers after 48 years – of which it aired over 33 televised seasons in more than 50 countries around the globe. The genius in recasting the lead character every couple of years adds to the renewed interest in fans and the writers in creating new stories; but, by far, the current broadcast run under the helm of Steven Moffat and showcasing the enumerable talents of Matt Smith has been nothing short of extraordinary. I am not alone in this belief, as DOCTOR WHO has secured a number of BAFTA nominations in recent years – including a recent nomination for Best Actor, and winning in prior years for Best Drama and Best Writing. This past year has been perhaps one of the most shocking, surprising and delightful seasons ever as it began the season with the death of The Doctor and ended with his wedding. The cleverly cast ensemble made up of Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill and Alex Kingston has infused the series with life and energy and created an addictiveness that crosses demographics like no other show ever – children, parents and grandparents are tuning in and living for just a few more moments with the infamous Doctor. Any show that can achieve all that deserves to be number one on the year-end Top 10 list! [Read more…]

Our 2011 TV Year in Review (Part III)
Favorite New Girl: Zooey Deschanel. Oh, and before you chastise us for going with the obvious choice, please consider this.
Favorite New Girl Not Starring in a Show of the Same Name: It’s a tie… between AWKWARD’s Ashley Rickards and SUBURGATORY’s Jane Levy. Seriously. We can’t decide, can you?
Favorite New Guy: In a crowded field of very deserving candidates including HART OF DIXIE’s Wilson Bethel, REVENGE’s Gabriel Mann and ONCE UPON A TIME’s Josh Dallas, one man elevated evil to an entirely new level of fun. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES’ Joseph Morgan, we salute you!
Favorite Fake Newscaster: With his sly delivery and trademark smirk, Seth Meyers continues to demonstrate that should the day ever arrive when Jon Stewart decides to look for other opportunities outside of THE DAILY SHOW, the man manning SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE’s Weekend Update desk is ready and waiting in the wings.
Favorite Funny: The $25 Foosball “bit” on COMMUNITY was worth every penny. Hence, Exhibit “A” [Read more…]
