Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Things You Didn’t Know About BONES Creator Hart Hanson
He cares deeply for his loyal audience.
While angry frustrated Booth and Brennan ‘shippers’ may find this somewhat hard to swallow at the moment, Hart Hanson really does care about his audience. “I am the first to admit that my bias on BONES is to hang on to my audience rather than risk losing them,” explained Hanson during his recent talk as part of the Canadian Film Centre Test Pattern Series. “When you say it out loud it sounds quite cowardly, but in our first year we were bounced around [the schedule] so much that when I saw those 6 million people follow us so that we survived living past Christmas, a light went off for me that said that this is a cult hit… an acquired taste… a fine scotch. Okay, we’re none of those things, really, we’re a goofy romantic crimedy, but my force on it has always been to be respectful and hope that our loyal audience sticks with us no matter what. Which is ironic because those are the same people who scream at me for things like Hannah!.”

The Power of Subliminal Programming: How TV Changes Our Behavior
By: Tiffany Vogt
After a recent episode of BONES, I noticed for the first time how easy it is for television to influence our personal lives. In this particular episode, Dr. Temperance Brennan was chastising Booth for failing to put the toilet seat cover down. After her detailed, if not repulsive rationale, Booth was prompted to buy new toothbrushes for himself and his new girlfriend. Maybe it was only meant to be a funny reminder of how when one enters a relationship, one needs to alter some of their bachelor ways; but it was a vivid reminder of how the rest of us need to be more aware of our environments. I know I immediately tossed my old toothbrush and bought a new one which I now keep in a drawer and not in a container next to the sink. BONES actually got me to rush out and buy something I had not thought to replace. How often can we say that a TV show had such an immediate effect on us?
It was upon further reflection that I began to think back over my buying habits and how they have changed; and for the first time I noticed how subconsciously I had altered my personal behavior in direct response to what I was watching on television. In fact, over the years, many of television shows have had a subtle, subconscious influence on what I buy.

NBC Unveils Midseason Schedule and We’ve Got Your Good, Bad & Ugly
THE GOOD: After an eight month hiatus that effectively killed any momentum the show’s stellar second season might have generated, PARKS AND RECREATION finally has a return date as part of NBC’s rejiggered Thursday night lineup (January 20th). Also falling under the category of good, David E. Kelly’s legal drama HARRY’S LAW starring Kathy Bates arrives on January 17th at 10PM, while Summer Glau’s superhero starrer THE CAPE gets a two-hour launch on January 9th (9-11PM) before moving to its regular Monday night at 9PM timeslot on the 17th. Which brings us to…
THE BAD: Making room for THE CAPE on Monday night at 9PM will be THE EVENT, which will delay its inevitable cancelation (see: FLASHFORWARD) with a highly publicized relaunch on March 7th. Also relaunching on March 7 is the much-beloved albeit little watched family drama PARENTHOOD, which will be bumped from its Tuesday at 10PM slot starting on February 8th to make room for [Cue: Collective Groan in 3… 2… 1…] LAW & ORDER: LOS ANGELES.
Gemini Gems: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES Star Nina Dobrev Talks Doppelganger Duty
On Saturday November 13, Canada celebrated some of the best and brightest we have to offer the world of television at the 25th Annual Gemini Awards (Think: Canada’s Emmy equivalent). Hosted by GLEE’s Cory Monteith, we are not exaggerating when we say everybody who is anybody in the world of Canadian TV was there. Including, theTVaddict.com’s very own Melissa Girimonte (@thetelevixen on twitter) who, planted firmly on the red carpet had the enviable “job” of interviewing the likes of Nina Dobrev, Grace Park, the cast of ROOKIE BLUE, and more. Interviews we’ll be sharing all week in a series we’ve cleverly coined Gemini Gems.

Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Shows Vastly Improved By Recent Cast Additions
DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES
Although much of the pre-season hype centered around Vanessa Williams’ Renee, the real stars have proven to be Brian Austin Green as Bree’s much-younger beau and Emily Bergl as Paul’s secret-keeping wife, Beth.
GOSSIP GIRL
Katie Cassidy’s Juliet not only spiced storylines up a bit, but finally provided eternally storyless Nate and his hunky portrayer, Chace Crawford a story. At long last, there’s something other than the always-entertaining Chuck and Blair to keep us tuning in.
