STAR-CROSSED Scoop: The Cast Dishes on Tonight’s Stormy New Episode as Human/Alien Relations Heat Up During a Hurricane

72063

In this week’s new episode of STAR-CROSSED, “What Storm Is This That Blows So,” a hurricane hits Edendale and forces the students at Marshall High into lock-down. But due to the suspicious nature and suddenness of the storm, Lukas (Titus Makin Jr.) and Sophia (Brina Palencia) investigate to find out what may have been the real cause of this ferocious visit from Mother Nature. Also suspicious is Roman (Matt Lanter) who believes that Teri (Chelsea Gilligan) may be conspiring with her Trag mom Vega (Merle Dandridge) in a plot to harm Emery (Aimee Teegarden), after last week’s public outing by Castor (Johnathan Schaech). Then Grayson (Grey Damon) puts pressure on Drake (Greg Finley) to reveal the names of the Trags conspiring against the humans. And if that was not enough drama to keep everyone busy during the lock-down, Ms. Benton (Stephanie Jacobsen) needs an Atrian specimen to run further tests on to discover the secrets of cyper.

Hilariously, the one person looking to keep as far away from trouble in this episode is Erik (Jesse Luke), alas he is a bit of a trouble-magnet and he finds himself having to talk himself out of a couple of awkward situations.

But not everything is life and death in this episode. There is occasion for a least two unexpectedly warm and wonderful kisses and the new romances starting to bloom between the Atrians and humans are going to fight hard to keep their various feuding factions from driving them apart. If only life could be all about love, and not having to worry about those who would hunt each of them down for just being different.

This is the dilemma that STAR-CROSSED tackles head-on. The distrust and resentment by the extremists amongst the Atrians and the humans is heating up and its put these teens lives at risk. What is fascinating is seeing how deftly each rises to the challenge and is willing to do whatever it takes to protect their families and love ones, while still trying to keep the peace and find a way to encourage further integration and understanding.

While at WonderCon this past weekend, the cast took a few minutes to talk about the big hurricane episode of STAR-CROSSED and how it impacts their characters. (Also fun are the shout-outs by Aimee Teegarden, Jesse Luken, Matt Lanter and executive producers Adele Lim and Meredith Averill who express their delight in William Shatner’s recent live-tweets of their show.) Last night was the premiere of the CW alien drama series STAR-CROSSED and it set up some wonderful storylines as the humans and Atrians began to take tentative steps towards integration and getting to know their fellow planet-mates. The sweeping romance of Roman (Matt Lanter) and Emery (Aimee Teegarden) is but one of the storylines being explored. Another storyline to be explored is now that Roman has healed Julia (Malese Jow), how will that effect them?

So if you watched the premiere of STAR-CROSSED, then these are likely to be a few of the burning questions on your mind that I got to pose to executive producers Meredith Averill and Adele Lim: [Read more…]

STAR-CROSSED Scoop: Greg Finley Talks Playing an Alien With A Secret

Greg Finley star-crossed

It seems like each character on the new CW series STAR-CROSSED has a secret. In the case of Drake (Greg Finley), he finds himself having to hide a blossoming love affair. Maybe love is just contagious across the universe, but the Atrians are certainly not immune to it. After 10 years living amongst the humans has taught the Atrians one distinct lesson: humans are not all that much more different than them. In fact, outside of all those tattoos, humans and Atrians look a lot a like. It is any wonder then that Cupid’s arrow may strike both equally?

Drake may not have thought he could ever fall in love with a human, but to his great surprise, he does. Knowing full well that his fellow Atrians are not going to welcome a cross-species romance, Drake hides his love as a great secret. But what is a boy to do when the girl he loves may reciprocate those forbidden feelings?

In an exclusive interview from the set, star Greg Finley teased a bit about Drake’s epic love, Drake’s rocky past with the Trags, and how Drake may just be the Mercutio in this “Romeo and Juliet” tale: [Read more…]

STAR-CROSSED Scoop: Grey Damon Talks Playing the Golden Boy Bridging Human and Alien Relations

Unlike many stories where the school golden boy immediately takes umbrage to welcoming outsiders, the CW’s new series STAR-CROSSED threw in a curveball. In their story, the school’s most popular teen extends the olive branch and offers the new visitors his support. Perhaps it is because he wants to win the heart of the new girl in school, or perhaps he just does not think the newcomers are all that much different. Whatever the motivation it is a welcome surprise.

In an exclusive interview from the set, star Grey Damon talked about his character Grayson, a popular kid who surprises everyone: [Read more…]

In the new CW series STAR-CROSSED, humans have not exactly welcomed their alien visitors with open arms. But one of the humans who is more than a little curious and very excited to meet them is Julia (Malese Jow), a young teen stricken by a deadly disease. The Atrian visitors who crashed 10 years ago on Earth are rumored to have a miracle cure that can save her life. But with human/Atrian tensions at an all time high with the recent government order for a trial integration of seven Atrian teens into the local high school, Julia’s chances of finding out if there is a cure seems farther and farther away. But then as luck would have it, one of the Atrians is a boy that Julia’s best friend Emery (Aimee Teegarden) met years before and he may hold the key to the miracle that Julia is looking for.

In an exclusive interview from the set, star Malese Jow talked about Julia’s quest for a cure, her friendship with Emery, and how Julia is completely Team Roman: [Read more…]

STAR-CROSSED Scoop: Aimee Teegarden Talks Playing a Star-Crossed Romance Amongst Rising Tensions

Aimee Teegarden emery star-crossed

In a tale as classic as love found amongst the stars, the CW drama STAR-CROSSED introduces the story of a young girl who falls for a young alien boy. Meeting one’s soulmate from across the universe is enough to sweep any girl off her feet, but when the entire human race seems against welcoming the aliens who have crash landed on their planet, it makes falling in love all that much harder. STAR-CROSSED’s young lovers Emery (Aimee Teegarden) and Roman (Matt Lanter) will try to carve out time for their budding romance, but with hostility brewing amongst human and alien factions, the story of Emery and Roman will be laced with much inter-species tension and how they struggle to help each side see the better qualities in the other. The aliens, known as Atrians, are not all to be feared and viewed with suspicion, as they have many wonderful qualities and abilities that humans should embrace. But the Atrians are wary of letting the humans know about their special abilities out of fear that they would be exploited, instead of welcomed as equals.

In an exclusive interview from the set, star Aimee Teegarden talked about her character Emery’s mindset and her desire to see where a relationship with Roman may go, and how Emery’s best friend Julia (Malese Jow) feels about the mysterious Atrians that may hold a miracle cure to her deadly disease. The CW’s new series STAR-CROSSED is about how an alien spaceship crash-landed on Earth and how its occupants were hunted down and incarcerated in an internment camp. It was not humankind’s finest day. Instead of welcoming the unexpected visitors, mankind treated them like unwanted guests.

Flash-forward 10 years later and everyone has come to accept that the aliens, known as Atrians, are not going anywhere. Their spaceship was destroyed when it crashed and no one has ever come to rescue them — the Atrians have been either abandoned or are alone in the universe. [Read more…]

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES Scoop: A Reunion Is Coming

One of the biggest and juiciest tidbits gleaned from the recent celebration on behalf of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES’ 100th Episodes was the fact that the 100th episode will be a reunion episode.  But if anyone knows Mystic Falls’ history, it is not a high school reunion that everyone is talking about.  It is a reunion of lost souls – the dearly departed killed off before their time.  But just who is coming back to visit and for how long, that’s the mystery of the 100th episode.

During red carpet interviews this past weekend, the cast of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, along with a few familiar faces of characters long-gone, were on hand to talk about which of the show’s many character deaths hit them the hardest and who they would not hesitate to resurrect in a heartbeat to bring back to the show.

While none of the cast or even producers were willing to spoil the fun surprise of which of the killed-off characters would be making an appearance in the 100th episode, everyone sure had a fun time talking about which deaths rocked their worlds and who they wanted to see return on the show – whether for the 100th episode or in some future episode of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES. Here is what each had to say: [Read more…]
