ARROW Preview: Slade’s Trap Is Sprung and Oliver Queen’s Family Must Pay The Ultimate Price

arrow stephen amell the promise

On the heels of last week’s shocking surprise, where Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) found Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett) standing in the Queen Mansion living room, this week’s episode “The Promise” reawakens Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) memories of that fateful day after which nothing was ever the same again — the day that Slade found out about Oliver’s choice to save Sara (Caity Lotz) over Shado (Celina Jade) on the island.

So what exactly happened on Ivo’s boat? Did Oliver and Sara rescue the other prisoners? Was the mirraku serum all destroyed? How did Slade find out the truth about Shado’s death? And did they all make it off that boat? That tale is finally told and it does not go exactly as planned, as heroes and villains take on different roles when faced with greater fears and greater motivation. There is also an unexpected visit from a familiar friend that also does not go as expected.

Back at the Queen Mansion, with Moira Queen (Susanna Thompson) and possibly Thea’s (Willa Holland) lives on the line, Oliver must find a way to save them before Slade’s angry wrath is unleashed upon them all. But who can stop Slade whose mind has been warped and festering in a mirraku-infested haze for 5 years? Alone and unable to leave for one second with Slade in the house, Oliver must stand his ground to protect his family — weaponless and without the protection of his anonymous hood. It is a rare day that Oliver finds himself so defenseless and utterly naked before such a threat. Can Slade be reasoned with? Will anything less than total annihilation of the Queens satisfy his blood-lust?

Who amongst Oliver’s team will be the first to realize the danger that Oliver is trapped in? Will it be Diggle, Roy, Sarah or Felicity to the rescue, or will they be oblivious of the threat ’til the dire end? [Read more…]

Last week’s episode “The Scientist” had many revelations and shocking moments, one of the biggest being when Oliver (Stephen Amell) shot Roy (Colton Haynes) with an arrow to keep him from getting in his way. That Oliver would actually shoot Roy felt like an arrow piercing our hearts.  We felt Roy’s acute pain and disbelief.

ARROW: Season 2 Shapshot from Stephen Amell on the Oliver/Roy Fallout

Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) is not the only terse and succinct superhero on television, but he is the one with perhaps the biggest heart. He will literally do anything to protect his family and those he loves. We have seen him struggle time and time again to walk the line between vigilante and hero. He recently crossed back over to the dark-side in order to save his teammate Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) when The Count (Seth Gabel) had her in his clutches, and Oliver snapped again when he thought that Roy may be endangering Thea – and an arrow through the leg was Roy’s punishment for daring to venture more into Oliver’s forbidden vigilante world.

In a recent press interview at the WBTV Mondo International Press Tour, star Stephen Amell briefly talked about the Oliver/Roy relationship and Oliver’s struggle to stop the killing in his quest to help the people of Starling City. [Read more…]

ARROW EP’s Talk Barry Allen, Address Felicity/Oliver Shippers and Tease Various Villains!

By: Sarah Stephens

It’s finally here! Ever since it leaked that none other than Barry Allen, aka The Flash, would be appearing on ARROW the speculation has been wild on just when and how he would appear. Well, the “when” has been answered- tonight on the all new episode of ARROW. The “how” is a little more fun. Look for Barry Allen (Grant Gustin of GLEE) to stop by Starling City as a CSI import from Central City helping the Scooby gang investigate a strange and lethal robbery. While in town, Barry is going to get up close and personal with his own hero, the vigilante.

Barry, pre-Flash transformation, will stick around for two episodes and shake up the dynamic of Starling City’s protectors, particularly when it comes to everyone’s favorite tech girl Felicity. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg explained “We spent a lot of time talking about Barry, even before the pilot aspect, just how we were going to introduce him in these episodes. Especially with the way the season had been going, talking about Oliver and Felicity and their growing relationship or feelings for each other, the fact that Barry and Felicity are so similar and they’re both a little bit uncomfortable in their own skins and both very likable and personable, it just seemed like they would instantly hit it off, which would complicate things for Oliver even more.” He continued “The fallout from episode 9 carries over into the next episodes, as far as Oliver and Felicity. Barry has had a profound effect on them.” [Read more…]

ARROW Preview: A Flashy New Face, A Returning Villain and A Party!

When we last left off with our heroes of Starling City, two stunning events had just occurred: (1) Moira Queen (Susanna Thompson) was acquitted for her part in the Reckoning, and (2) Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) returned announcing that he was the father of Thea Queen. It is hard to say which moment caused fans jaws to drop harder, but certainly many were left stunned by these sudden shocking events. Even Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was surprised to see his mother escape the vengeful wrath of justice. But apparently that was all Malcolm’s doing – he pulled a few strings to ensure that Moira was freed. [Read more…]
