In anticipation of the 2006 Emmy awards, theTVaddict crew will be predicting our Emmy Winners. Check beck regularly, as new categories will be posted throughout the coming weeks. Agree with our picks? disagree completely? think we take TV a little too seriously! Post your comments below.
Nominees (L to R): Peter Krause (Six Feet Under), Denis Leary (Rescue Me), Christopher Meloni (Law & Order: SVU), Martin Sheen (The West Wing), Kiefer Sutherland (24)
theTVaddict Predicts:
Who I Think Will Win: Denis Leary Denis Leary’s passion and respect for New York Firefighters has kept RESCUE ME compelling and must-watch for four seasons.
Who I HOPE Will Win: Denis Leary His acceptance speach will no doubt keep the network censors on ‘High Alert’.
Who Was Snubbed: Edward James Olmos Edward James Olmos plays televisions most compelling captain. When will Emmy voters learn to appreciate shows that take place in space? BATTLESTAR GALACTICA is so much more then a space opera.
Amrie Predicts:
Who I Think Will Win: Martin Sheen He’s never won for this role, and what better way to go with a bang?
Who I HOPE Will Win: Denis Leary If you had asked me this question before Rescue Me Season 2, I never would have said him (I would have picked my Kiefer or Chris Meloni), but Season 2 of RM killed me, and he played his twisted character with surprising strength, humility, anger, etc. I hope he continues the shock, and steals this one away!
Who Was Snubbed: Hugh Laurie/Edward James Olmos Hugh Laurie or EJO, my current hero (Edward James Olmos). Hugh Laurie is so crass, and angry, but so multi-dimensional as Gregory House, that you can’t help but love him. And EJO’s Adama? Absolutely deserving of recognition!
Jenny Predicts:
Who I Think Will Win: Martin Sheen Being that it was it’s last season, the Emmys are notorious for putting series enders at the top.
Who I HOPE Will Win: Christopher Meloni His character on SVU had an outstanding season. We saw him go through so many issues and emotions that it’s his time.
Who Was Snubbed: Hugh Laurie His portrayal of Gregory House is much like Christopher Meloni’s. Dealing with his drug addiction and his leg brought a new dimension to the character and the season finale was one of his best works ever.
