Our Golden Globe Winning Picks

The TV Addict here with your 100% guaranteed (okay, not really) picks for the winners of this year’s GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS. Be sure to check back with theTVaddict.com at 8PM tonight for our first annual GOLDEN GLOBE PARTY! (And remember, IF TONY SHALOUB WINS another award, the riot starts at 11:05 sharp!)

BEST TELEVISION DRAMA
24
BIG LOVE
GREY’S ANATOMY
HEROES
LOST

The difference between the Golden Globes and the Emmys is that the Globes are decided by approx. 75 foreign journalists. This TV Addict is betting that the endless cheerleader buzz, the world wide appeal of the show and the culturally diverse (really good-looking!) cast will ensure that HEROES goes home with the gold.

BEST ACTOR TELEVISION DRAMA
Patrick Dempsey, GREY’S ANATOMY
Keifer Sutherland, 24
Bill Paxton, BIG LOVE
Hugh Laurie, HOUSE
Michael C. Hall, DEXTER

The Globe Voters don’t want to tempt fate. They already angered Tony Soprano by not nominating him, do they really need to piss of a brilliant serial killer as well? Michael C. Hall SHOULD win, and WILL win for his brilliant portayal of Dexter on the show with the same name.

BEST ACTRESS TELEVISION DRAMA
Patricia Arquette, MEDIUM
Evangeline Lily, LOST
Edie Falco, THE SOPRANOS
Ellen Pompeo, GREY’S ANATOMY
Kyra Sedgwick, THE CLOSER

No award show can be complete without one award going to a SOPRANO. (Lord knows the Globe voters don’t want to anger ‘The Family’). Expect Edie Falco to take home the only award THE SOPRANOS see this year.

BEST TELEVISION COMEDY
UGLY BETTY
WEEDS
ENTOURAGE
THE OFFICE
DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES

Best Comedy this year is a tough call. As much as THE OFFICE deserves to win, I’m going to be a maverick and once again pick the up-and-coming favourite — UGLY BETTY. Do you think the mysterious Fey Summers will make an appearance at the Globes?

BEST ACTOR TELEVISION COMEDY
Alec Baldwin, 30 ROCK
Steve Carell, THE OFFICE
Jason Lee, MY NAME IS EARL
Zach Braff, SCRUBS
Tony Shaloub, MONK

As much as I’d like to see Zach Braff walk away with a much deserved statue, I have a feeling that this is Alec Baldwin’s year (Not that there’s anything wrong with that). In fact, I’m pretty much happy with whoever wins in this category, except for Tony Shaloub. If Shaloub walks away with another award for MONK, I’m packing it in and picking up a book.

BEST ACTRESS TELEVISION COMEDY
America Ferrera, UGLY BETTY
Marcia Cross, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES
Felicity Huffman, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES
Julia Louis-Dreyfus, THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE
Mary Louise Parker, WEEDS

The Golden Globes have a history of awarding the IT girl — see: Jennifer Garner (ALIAS) and Keri Russell (FELICITY. Expect America Ferrera to walk away with the gold. Let’s hope she gets some tips from Wilhelmina Slater on how to dress for an award show!

BEST MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE, MADE FOR TV
Bleak House
Broken Trail
Elizabeth I
Mrs. Harris
Prime Suspect: The Final Act

Full Disclosure: I haven’t seen a single one of these movies/mini-series, but the golden rule of award shows is always bet on British! Hollywood is infatuated with Hellen Mirren, and she’s already won the Emmy. Expect ELIZABETH I to take home the gold.
