Jenny’s This Week on TV

Welcome to This Week on TV! Notice the new format to some of the column… On the list of “Also on tonight” shows, you’ll notice that if a show is new that night, it will say *New* in red on the left. (Or other things, such as *Sports* etc) If a show is listed without that on the left, you’ll know it is a rerun. Also, I have now included the network and time that each show is on, plus if it is 2 hours, 2 episodes, etc. So hopefully that will give you all the information you could possibly want! If you have any other suggestions, please comment below and let me know! Now, let’s see what’s happening this week, shall we?

SUNDAY

Sunday, watch the premieres of 4 shows! First is the 3rd season premiere of Mind of Mencia on Comedy Central at 10/9c. Then at 10:30/9:30c also on Comedy Central is the 4th season spring premiere of Reno 911. Did anyone go see the Reno 911!: Miami movie when it came out last month? Soooo not my type of thing, but funny for those of you who enjoy it! 😉

The third premiere is for The Tudors on Showtime at 10/9c. It will focus on the rarely dramatized, tumultuous early years of King Henry VIII’s nearly 40-year omnipotent reign of England. Jonathan Rhys Meyers stars as King Henry VIII and the cast also includes Callum Blue, who played Bob on Related & Mason on another great Showtime show, Dead Like Me. I hear it also contains lots and lots of sex. Not that I’ll be watching, having no darn Showtime! *grumble*

The final premiere is for Sons of Hollywood at 10/9c on A&E. The reality show delves into the lives of Tinseltown’s well-heeled offspring and stars David Weintraub, Randy Spelling & Sean Stewart. It is 2 back-to-back 30-minute episodes this week.

Also on tonight:

MONDAY

Monday is the 2nd season finale of Prison Break on FOX at 8/7c! Michael races against time to rescue Lincoln and beat Mahone at his own game; Sucre risks his life to save Maricruz; T-Bag and Bellick find themselves up a Panamanian river.

Also, tonight is the finale of The Hills on MTV at 10/9c, I Love New York on VH1 at 9/8c (Sorry for the mixup last week!) and of Lincoln Heights on ABC Family at 7/6c. An opportunity arises for the Suttons to leave Lincoln Heights. Will they?

Check out the premieres of The Bachelor on ABC at 9:45/8:45c (what weird times!) and the new show Taquita & Kaui on MTV at 10:30/9:30c. It features 2 girls who met on the hit series Making the Band 3. Unfortunately the girls didn’t make the final cut, but they have since become the best of friends. Now they are ready to give showbiz another try. If it makes any difference (*laugh*), the show is produced by Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Also on tonight:

TUESDAY

Tuesday, the biggest news is the 6th season premiere of The Shield on FX at 10/9c! The Barn mourns the loss of Lem; Shane’s behavior concerns Vic and Ronnie; Claudette receives distressing news about the Barn’s future; Dutch and Billings discover the gruesome San Marcos mass murder.

Also on tonight is the season finale of Bam’s Unholy Union at 9/8c and 2 new episodes, including the finale, of Two-a-Days on MTV.

Also on tonight:

WEDNESDAY

Wednesday, catch a new episode of Friday Night Lights on NBC at 8/7c. Coach Taylor makes a rash decision that alters his future at Dillon and upsets the women in his life.

Then turn to ABC at 10/9c for Lost. Kate must fend for herself in the jungle when she discovers that one of her own has betrayed her; Hurley warns Sawyer to make amends with his fellow castaways or face possible banishment.

Also on tonight:

THURSDAY

Thursday, check out the premieres on MTV! First up is the season finale of Pimp My Ride at 9/8c. Then stick around for the series premiere of Nick Cannon Presents: Short Circuitz at 9:30/8:30c. Created, produced & starring Nick Cannon himself, it offers a fresh new blend of sketch comedy that skewers pop culture with a hip-hop edge.

Then at 10/9c, catch the series premiere of Adventures in Hollyhood. As the first hip-hop group ever to win an Oscar for Best Song, a music career defined by multi-platinum success, and recognized by millions of loyal fans across the globe, some may say hip-hop super group Three 6 Mafia has accomplished it all. However, it is only the beginning for this hip hop powerhouse as MTV follows them on their biggest adventure yet — Hollywood, CA.

Finally, at 10:30/9:30c is the series premiere of Human Giant. Consisting of four members — Aziz Ansari, Rob Huebel, Paul Scheer, and Jason Woliner — Human Giant delivers a unique brand of comedy in short film-style. Caution!! Viewing the extreme magnifications, blood oaths and never-before-seen illusions in Human Giant may cause permanent laugh lines, warped humor and a possible mind explosion!

If you watch NBC’s comedy line-up, be sure you watch the times tonight. The Office is 42 minutes long, 30 Rock is 39 minutes, Scrubs is 33 minutes and Andy Barker P.I. is 29 minutes!

Also on tonight:

FRIDAY

Friday, catch a new episode of Raines at 9/8c. A former drug-dealer and aspiring comic-book illustrator is found dead; Samantha urges Raines to bring Charlie’s son to see her about childhood trauma. I am really enjoying this show! I hope it continues to get better.

Also on tonight:

Whew! That’s a full week of tv, isn’t it? One week closer to the end of the season. It used to be that the summer season was a break and very light on new shows, but now, it seems like my summer schedule is almost as packed! Crazy!

If you are a fan of Til Death, Gilmore Girls or Veronica Mars, check out my interview with Krysten Ritter, where she gives inside scoop about her roles on each of those shows plus hints about what the future might hold.

Have a great week everyone!
