Jenny’s This Week on TV

Welcome to a new week for This Week on TV! This is a packed week full of premieres and finales, so let’s get to it!

SUNDAY

Sunday is all about the 2 hour series premiere of Drive on FOX at 8/7c. A select group of people from around the country are coerced or invited to compete in a highly-secretive, cross-county road race with a rumored prize of $32 million. Those competing include: Alex Tully (played by the wonderful Nathan Fillion, Captain Mal Reynolds on Firefly & Caleb on Buffy the Vampire Slayer), whose wife has been kidnapped and who has become convinced that competing in The Race will lead to her whereabouts; Wendy Patrakas (played by Melanie Lynskey, Rose on Two and a Half Men), a new mother fleeing from her husband, Richard; Rob Laird, a soldier just back from fighting in Iraq, and his wife Ellie; Winston Salazar (played by Kevin Alejandro, Santos on Ugly Betty), a convict who has been mysteriously let out of jail, and his newly discovered half-brother Sean; Hurricane Katrina survivors Ivy, Leigh and Susan (played by Michael Hyatt, Angela Blake on The West Wing & Brianna Barksdale on The Wire; father and daughter team John and Violet; and mysterious stowaway Corinna Wiles (played by Kristin Lehman, who played the genetically engineered beauty on the short-lived Century City). The Race Liaison, Mr. Bright, meets the participants in the Florida Keys and gives them instructions on the first leg of their trip in the series premiere. Nathan Fillion is reason enough alone to watch this show! Check it out!

Also on tonight:

MONDAY

Monday is the 2nd episode of Drive on FOX in its time slot premiere at 8/7c. Be sure and watch episode 2, even if episode 1 wasn’t as good as you thought. The networks are WAY too quick to jump the gun and cancel shows without giving them a chance to improve and from everything I’ve read, this one just keeps getting better every episode!

Check out The Bachelor on ABC at 9:30/8:30c, when Andy will put the remaining women to a test in boot camp! Someone gets hurt during boot camp and someone goes home during a 2 on 1 date so should be action packed. 😀

Also on tonight:

TUESDAY

Tuesday marks the new night and time for George Lopez on ABC with 2 new episodes at a special time at 8/7c and the time slot premiere at 8:30/7:30c. First, when she cannot smoke, Benny’s nicotine withdrawal symptoms drive George to self-destructive behavior. Then, the family’s new neighbor decorates his front lawn with an offensive art display; an old friend (Mario López, hawt hawt hawt!) takes an interest in George and Angie’s niece.

Check out the series premiere of Living Lahaina on MTV at 10:30/9:30c. This new docu-reality series is about a group of friends who work as surf instructors at the Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy in Lahaina, Maui in Hawaii.

Finally, don’t miss the return of a new episode of Gilmore Girls on the CW at 8/7c. You Luke & Lorelai fans will enjoy this episode!

Also on tonight:

WEDNESDAY

Wednesday is the 135-minute 4th season premiere of Hustle on AMC at 9/8c. If you’ve never heard of this show, you should check it out. It follows the exploits of a group of London-based con artists who pull off daringly intricate stings to swindle money from “respectable” but despicably greedy marks. With plenty of suspense, style and humor, an occasional touch of romance, and always a series of unforeseen twists, each episode takes the viewer deeper into the hidden world of scammers and grifters to reveal the personalities and perverse artistry of the high-end confidence game. It stars Robert Vaughn (from The A-Team, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. & guest starred on many, many, MANY shows).

If you are a fan of According to Jim like I am, don’t miss it in the new time slot on ABC at 8/7c! When Andy buys a metal detector, he unearths Jim’s missing wedding ring. Tonight is also the spring finale of South Park on Comedy Central at 10/9c, so don’t miss it!

Also on tonight:

THURSDAY

Thursday has no premieres or finales, but it’s chock full of new episodes, including a new Smallville on the CW at 8/7c. After Lex discovers that Chloe’s mother (Lynda Carter) can control meteor freaks, he develops a drug to wake her from her catatonic state.

Then stick around for the new Supernatural on the CW at 9/8c. Sam and Dean investigate the death of an actor on a horror-film set after rumors indicate that he was killed by a ghost.

Also on tonight:

FRIDAY

Friday, check out the new episode of Raines on NBC at 9/8c. Raines’ hallucinations are particularly troublesome as he investigates the rape and murder of a 10-year-old girl.
