Having just watched last night’s episode of GILMORE GIRLS I’m embarrassed, nay, mortified to discover that Michel and I drive the same car. On a totally unrelated note, if anyone’s interested in picking up a used Volkswagen Golf in mint condition email theTVaddict.
Car similarities aside, I truly enjoyed last nights episode with the exception of one thing. I can’t believe Lorelai Gilmore wasn’t wearing a bicycle helmet! Yes, I know this isn’t something that the average viewer probably cares about, but there are far worse fates than failed relationships in store for Lorelai if she continues her irresponsible ways (and don’t even get me started on the cell phone chatting!).
Did you know that 84 bicyclists died on US roads in 2005? 92% of them died in crashes with motor vehicles (720). About 540,000 bicyclists visit emergency rooms with injuries every year. And of those, about 67,000 have head injuries, 27,000 have injuries serious enough to be hospitalized and 1 in 8 of the cyclists with reported injuries has a brain injury.
Lorelai, it’s time to smarten up. Clearly you and Luke are on the road to ‘happily ever after’. It would be a shame to see your carelessness turn you into Stars Hollow Roadkill.
