Jenny’s This Week on TV

Welcome to a new week for This Week on TV! What a week! Jericho fans are still on a roll, having sent (as of just after midnight on Friday night) nearly 36,000 pounds of nuts to CBS and raised over $10,000 for Greensburg, Kansas. Still crossing my fingers that a miracle will happen and that and Veronica Mars will be picked up! lol Let’s see what up in reality this week, shall we? *sigh*

SUNDAY

Sunday is the series premiere of a new show on Lifetime called Army Wives. It’s about the struggles, dreams and friendships of a diverse group of women — and one man — living with their spouses and families on an active army post and the pressures and traditions of the military on those who are left behind while their partners serve their country. It stars Kim Delaney (NYPD Blue, Sally Pressman (Shark), Brigid Brannagh (Over There), Brian McNamara (The OC), Sterling K. Brown (the hysterical short-lived Starved), Wendy Davis (Commander-in-Chief), Drew Fuller (Charmed) & the terrific Catherine Bell (JAG). It’s a great, strong cast and my best friend’s husband is about to leave to go over to Iraq, so this one kind of hits close to home for me. It airs at 10/9c.

If you are a Food Network fan, the new season of The Next Food Network Star with 2 episodes starting at 9/8c. In these first 2 episodes, the eleven finalists meet for the first time, present an original dish to the selection committee, decorate a cake and cater a wedding.

If you are lucky like me and have more channels than you know what to do with, you should check and see if you get AmericanLife TV. Starting tonight and every Sunday night at 11/10c, they are airing 3 classic dramas from the premiere episode of each: St. Elsewhere, Hill Street Blues & L.A. Law. Read all about it here: TheTVAddict.com.

Also on tonight:

MONDAY

Monday is the season premiere of Hell’s Kitchen on FOX at 9/8c. How many will Gordon Ramsay make cry this season? The previews show one guy bawling and crying harder every time Ramsay tells him to stop. heh I can’t wait!

Tonight is also the series premiere of Hollyoaks on BBC America at 10:30/9:30c. Fast paced and issue-based, Hollyoaks has been a hit teen drama for a decade in the UK. BBC AMERICA picks up the story in the build-up to a pivotal plot point in which escaped convict Sam Owen, who was convicted of date rape, wreaks his revenge on Hollyoaks by inflicting death and destruction at the local pub, The Dog. Check out the link to find out more!

Also on tonight:

TUESDAY

Tuesday is the season premiere of 2 shows. First up is the 2-hour premiere of America’s Got Talent on NBC at 9/8c. Sharon Osbourne is a judge and Jerry Spring hosts this season, so it should be interesting!

Also premiering tonight is Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List on Bravo starting at 9/8c with a 1 hour special titled: Kathy Griffin: Everybody Can Suck It. lol Then the new season premieres after that at 10/9c.

Starting tonight on BBC America, they are airing the show MI-5 from the beginning at 8/7c & 9/8c. The show airs on A&E and has finished its 4th season. But if you are like me and have heard of it and wanted to see it but didn’t want to start in the middle, you can check it out from the beginning! They lie to their friends, they lie to their lovers, they lie to their own families…and they risk their lives every minute of every day to keep the peace and protect millions of others. Like the CIA in America, MI-5 is the national security agency for the United Kingdom – an organization that brings its operatives into mortal danger on a regular basis. The fast-moving series follows the daring exploits of Section B, a small group of top-flight agents in the counter-terrorism division. Tied closely to events happening around the globe, the stories interweave high-tech, covert plans of action with the complications that such highly pressured jobs bring to interpersonal relationships – outside and inside of the department. It sounds great, doesn’t it? A little bit like my much-missed Alias. 🙁 🙂

Also on tonight:

WEDNESDAY

Wednesday is the season premiere of American Inventor on ABC at 9/8c. Last season was highly entertaining, watching everything from pretty cool ideas to the complete & utter ridiculous. This one should be just as good. 🙂

Following that is a new episode of Traveler at 10/9c. Tyler and Jay return to New Haven, Conn., to retrieve items that may exonerate them; Carlton orders a press conference regarding his involvement in hiding his son; Kim’s daily life begins to crumble.

Also on tonight:

THURSDAY

Thursday is the 3rd part of Starter Wife on USA at 9/8c. What did you guys think of the first 2 parts? Let me know!

Also tonight is So You Think You Can Dance on FOX at 9/8c. Tonight, the top 20 are chosen. Do you have a favorite yet?

Also on tonight:

FRIDAY

Friday is the return of Standoff on FOX at 9/8c! A border agent threatens his colleagues, and things escalate into a tense hostage-crisis, but Matt and Emily realize there is more to the situation than meets the eye. There are 4 episodes left to air of the cancelled series and I can’t wait for them!

Friday is also the series premiere of Mayo on BBC America with 2 eps starting at 8/7c. Alistair McGowan is wisecracking detective Gil Mayo in a series of intriguing and entertaining whodunnits. The description sounds pretty neat and the cast looks great. I will definitely be checking out the first couple of episodes at least!

Also on tonight:

Finally some good stuff beginning to premiere for the summer! Things will definitely start picking up soon, so let me know what you are looking forward to the most! Have a great week everyone. 🙂
