Jenny’s This Week on TV

Welcome to a new week for This Week on TV! What a great week last week! Monk, Psych, Burn Notice (one of my new favorite shows!) & Eureka. I’m not sure you can get any better than that! Let’s see if this week has any other big moments…

SUNDAY

Sunday is the series premiere of 2 shows on Lifetime. First up is Side Order of Life at 8/7c. This show stars Jason Priestley (Beverly Hills 90210 & Tru Calling) & Diana-Maria Riva (Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip), along with Christopher Gartin and Marisa Coughlan. It centers on a young magazine photographer who suddenly re-evaluates her life and impending nuptials after receiving a “wake-up call from the universe.” I’ve actually heard good things about the show, so I think I’ll have to record it and see if it lives up to the hype!

Next up is State of Mind at 9/8c. This one stars Lili Taylor (Six Feet Under), Kevin Chamberlin (Heroes), Theresa Randle (Law & Order: Criminal Intent) & Devon Gummersal (My So-Called Life). “Created by practicing psychotherapist, author, professor and mother, Amy Bloom, the series follows a brilliant, take-charge family therapist whose personal problems rival those of her eclectic and offbeat patients after discovering her husband is cheating on her with their marriage counselor.” The executive producers are Greer Shephard and Michael Robin, who produce Nip/Tuck and The Closer, so how can I NOT watch??

Also on tonight:

MONDAY

Monday is a new episode of Kyle XY on ABC Family at 8/7c. Kyle explores Adam Baylin’s notes when his premonitions about the future come true.

There is also a new episode of The Closer on TNT at 9/8c. An old man confesses to murdering seven people; Fritz and Brenda find a home. How fantastic was last week’s episode?? Truly heart-wrenching and amazing acting on the parts of Kyra Sedgwick (Brenda) & Corey Reynolds (Sgt Gabriel)! If you missed it, catch a rerun tonight at 8/7c before the new episode!

Also on tonight:

TUESDAY

Tuesday is the series premiere of The Bill Engvall Show on TBS at 9/8c. I recently participated in a phone conference with the leads, Bill Engvall himself and his tv wife, Nancy Travis (from Becker). They were both delightful, funny people and after seeing the series premiere, I’m very excited for this comedy! It’s about a family counselor (Engvall) and his wife (Travis) and their 3 children. The jokes were funny, the situations things that I could totally see happening in my family growing up with a brother & sister myself and the writing was terrific. If you are disappointed with comedies on tv today (*ahem* Daniel *ahem*), don’t miss this show!

Also on tonight:

WEDNESDAY

Wednesday is a new episode of Next Best Thing: Who is the Greatest Celebrity Impersonator? on ABC at 8/7c. The top 10 are competing this week and they are fantastic. I’m not sure I can even pick a favorite, although I do love Lucille Ball, Little Richard, Robin Williams, Frank Sinatra & the Elvis from last week in white. If you’ve been watching, who is your favorite?

Tonight is also the season (& likely series?) finale of Traveler on ABC at 10/9c. Will reunites with Jay and Tyler to bring down the man behind the Drexler bombing; Marlow is abruptly taken off the case.

Also on tonight:

THURSDAY

Thursday is the series premiere of Mad Men on AMC at 10/9c. This new drama stars Jon Hamm (We Were Soldiers), Elisabeth Moss (The West Wing), Vincent Kartheiser (Angel), January Jones (We Are Marshall) and Christina Hendricks (Kevin Hill), along with fantastic guest stars, including John Slattery (Desperate Housewives) and legendary stage and screen star Robert Morse (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying) plus many more. Set in 1960 New York, the daring new series is about the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising, an ego-driven world where key players make an art of the sell while their private world gets sold.

Also on tonight:

FRIDAY

Friday is the series finale of Standoff on FOX at 9/8c. A recently fired corporate executive holds 16 hostages in the company’s boardroom; a self-made millionaire producer and his wife take each other hostage.

Again this week, don’t miss Jericho on CBS at 9/8c. On tonight’s episode, Jake, Stanley and Mimi find themselves fighting for their lives when they run into several dangerous strangers on a hunting trip. Mimi’s character really steps up tonight! It’s kind of a huge turning point for her! Don’t miss it!

Also on tonight:

Have a great week everyone! I’ll be here by myself for the week, packing and getting ready for the garage sale next weekend, while my husband is up in Overland Park starting his new job and our kiddo is visiting grandparents. A special hello to my friend Chrissy, who’s husband just left for a few weeks of training then is off to Iraq. I love you Chris! I’m here if ya need me!
