A TV Addict Must Watch: MAD MEN

While I could remain bitter that AMC didn’t bother sending me a screener of their new series MAD MEN. I’ve cast aside my ego in order to uphold the TV Addict oath. What’s this oath you ask? It’s a not-so-super-secret pledge I’ve made to ensure that TV Addicts everywhere know what’s really ‘must see TV’ in the world of television. Which in this case means informing you about tonight’s ‘must watch’ new show — MAD MEN.

MAD MEN is the provocative new series from Matthew Weiner (THE SOPRANOS) that takes the viewer into an unexpected new world — the high-powered and glamorous “Golden Age” of advertising — where everyone is selling something and nothing is ever what you expect it to be. Not only does the show look like one of the most original and compelling dramas to grace my flat screen TV in years. It stars some of theTVaddict.com’s personal favorites, including John Slattery (JACK & BOBBY and more recently DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES) and Elisabeth Moss (The President’s daughter on THE WEST WING). Needless to say, if there’s one thing that will put a smile on your face following the disappointment that was this morning’s Emmy nominations — it’s this show.

Of course I have yet to actually see the show, but Newsweek promises that it’s “Television’s best new drama.” Agree or disagree with Newsweek? Share your thoughts following tonight’s premiere. MAD MEN premieres tonight at 10PM on AMC.
