90210-Oh-Oh: Critics Being Left in the Dark

This afternoon, theTVaddict.com received the following official statement from the CW.

“The CW and our studio partner CBS Paramount Network Television have made the strategic marketing decision not to screen “90210” for any media in advance of its premiere.  We’re not hiding anything . . . simply keeping a lid on 90210 until 9.02, riding the curiosity and anticipation into premiere night, and letting all our constituents see it at the same time.”

Now, far be it from this TV Addict to start unsubstantiated rumors [after-all, isn’t that what Entertainment Tonight is for?], but can this seriously be considered a positive sign for the show that’s supposed to be the CW’s last and best hope for survival?

I mean let’s face. If the CW and their studio partner CBS truly thought that 90210 was of a quality that would generate rave reviews, they’d be working as hard as Michael Phelps swims to put the pilot in the hands of every major Critic and Blogger across North America.

So I ask you, Proverbial Powers That Be at both the CW and CBS. What are you trying to hide? Because this TV Addict is not happy he now has to wait until September 2 to return to his favorite zip code.
