Exclusive Interview: HEROES Star Milo Ventimiglia

At the recent Television Critics Association Press Tour, HEROES star Milo Ventimiglia was kind enough to take a few minutes out of his busy schedule to preview the next chapter of HEROES, which premieres on Monday and is ominiously titiled, “Villains.”

There has been a lot of talk about big changes when HEROES returns on Monday. What can you spill?
Milo Ventimiglia: There’s not a lot I can actually talk about.

Great thanks!
[Laughs] The one thing I can say is that Peter is not quite himself.

Care to elaborate?
If the first season was about Peter finding himself and the second was about Peter losing himself. The third season has Peter not quite himself. Peter is always evolving, moving and bouncing around. Right now, Peter is one of the most powerful heroes, which means at some point, the guy has to fall. Which is going to be really fascinating to watch.

Hayden [Panettiere] has hinted that there may me something worse out their than Sylar this season?
There is. I think everyone will be confronting something worse than Sylar. And it’s definitely something that is going to strike a chord with Peter.

Will Sylar himself be threatened?
It’s a threat to everybody and everything. I’m not going to say it’s an apocalypse, but there’s going to be a power that comes along that will force everybody to band together.

In recent interviews, HEROES creator Tim Kring has alluded to the fact that the stakes are a lot higher this season.
All I know is that Tim sad this year that if you die, you’re dead. So it’s going to be interesting to see what happens. Where it all leads and what characters are going to survive.

What can you tell us about the Petrelli family this season?
The Peterelli family is an interesting lot, aren’t we? There is so much hope and infighting that it’s kind of confusing to say where we actually will land. But I think that there is such a dynamic between all of the characters, between Angela, Nathan and Peter and the extension of that family that you have got to wonder how the Father played into everything. I definitely don’t think there’s going to be a lack of intrigue coming out of the Petrelli family this season.

This new chapter of the HEROES saga is being called “Villains”. What does that mean to you?
To me it’s just a title, but to Peter, it signifies a lot of trouble.

We can’t wait…

HEROES returns this Monday September 22 starting at 9PM [With a recap episode running at 8PM]
