Tonight’s TV Addictions: January 21, 2009

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
LOST: DESTINY CALLS (8PM ABC, “A” in Canada)
Normally, we’re not big fans of recap episodes. But when the series in question is LOST — aka one of the most densely-layered, complexly-plotted shows of all time — we’ll take all the help we can get in figuring things out.

THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE (8PM CBS)
When you’ve got 22 episodes a season to write, what happens in Vegas doesn’t always necessarily stay in Vegas. Which is why tonight’s adventures of Old Christine feature New Christine discovering a wild side she didn’t know she possessed when the gang heads to Vegas for her Bachelorette party.

LOST (9PM ABC, “A” in Canada)
Although this is being billed as a two-hour episode, it is, in fact, two one-hour outings titled, respectively, “Because You Left” and “The Lie.” As the island’s occupants deal with the effect of it having been “moved”, the Oceanic 6 realize they have to return… with Locke’s body. If that sentence doesn’t mean anything to you, well, we warned you to watch the special at 8PM!

Adds theTVaddict.com Contributer Aleks Chan: To speak of any of the moments in LOST’s two-hour premiere would be to court serious spoilers, so for LOSTies sake, I won’t be sharing any details. Just know that producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse were smart to set an end date: the first three episodes are packed with so many revelations (and so many more questions, naturally) that anyone who’s been on the ride thus far will cheer in rejoice — and it’s not even over yet.

LIE TO ME (9PM FX, Global in Canada)
We’re not going to lie. We’ll be watching LOST. But we did enjoy the pilot (as evidence by our review) and plan on DVRing the series for weekend viewing. Even though CouchTater contends that he’s not “necessarily ready to sit through Facial Tic Theater on a weekly basis.”

DAMAGES (10PM FX)
Patty Hewes suspects that Daniel Purcell (William Hurt) is withholding vital information about the death of his wife. While we suspect that her investigation would probably go a lot smoother if she gave LIE TO ME’s Dr. Cal Lightman a call. We’re just sayin’

NEW & NOTABLE:
KNIGHT RIDER (8PM NBC, E! in Canada)
I’m almost tempted to tune in simply based on the fact that tonight, the NSA gets permission to activate KARR… aka KITT’s evil nemesis. That sounds almost too cheesetacular to miss. Almost.

13: FEAR IS REAL (8PM CW, CityTV in Canada)
The killer strikes during the daylight… which probably sounds scarier then it’ll turn out to be, based on previous outings.

ONE LIFE TO LIVE (8PM SOAPnet)
The Plain White T’s perform. Wait, you mean that’s notwhat soap fans tune in for? Gee, someone should really tell that to the folks at ABC.

CSI: NY (10PM CBS, CTV in Canada)
It’s a good thing the CSI team loves games, cause tonight a killer scatters body parts all over the city. Did we mention they all belong to the same person?

LAW & ORDER (10PM NBC)
Sorority’s are bad news. Don’t believe us? You will by the end of tonight’s episode.
