Tonight’s TV Addictions: Friday January 30, 2009

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS (9PM NBC, GlobalTV in Canada)
One of the things we’ve always loved about this show is the sense one gets that these are, for the most part, real people in the real world. Tonight’s a great example, as Smash worries how his mom is going to pay for college. Maybe they should hang out with Billy and Tim, who are cooking up a money-making scheme. For that matter, maybe weshould hook up with them. A little extra cash never hurt anyone… right, Mr. Madoff?

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (10PM Sci Fi, Space in Canada)
Or as we’re calling tonight’s installment, Valkyrie in Space [Click here for spoilers]

NEW & NOTABLE:
WIFE SWAP (8PM ABC)
A fast food-lovin’ mom switches places with a woman who is big on healthy living. Can’t we all just get along?

HOWIE DO IT (8PM NBC, Global in Canada)
A woman invites her loved ones to watch as she marries a stranger on a television show. Wait, are they trying to repackage WHO WANTS TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE? You can’t fool us!

ALL MY CHILDREN (8PM SOAPnet)
Zach and Kendall have a long-awaited romantic reunion… which will probably go sour the second she finds out her sister had his baby. ‘Cause seriously, this couple can not catch a break.

EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS (8PM CW)
Can Chris really already be taking college entrance exams? Time flies when you’re having fun! Meanwhile, Julius — always looking for a bargain — finds out there’s no such thing as a free lunch (or anything else) after winning a television.

13: FEAR IS REAL (9PM CW)
What would horror flicks be without students to kill off? Tonight, the contest moves to a high school, while the killer is revealed and discusses the difficulty of his or her new double life.

20/20 (9PM ABC)
Tonight’s episode focuses on “the science of physical attraction.” Okay, let me save you a whole lot of time (or at least an hour): Pretty attracts pretty. Pretty attracts ugly. Ugly rarely attracts pretty. Ugly only wants pretty. Ugly winds up bitter. Moving on…

BARE ESSENTIALS (11PM QVC)
Okay, for about two seconds I got majorly excited, thinking someone was finally> rerunning the series BARE ESSENCE, starring Genie Francis (ex-Laura, GENERAL HOSPITAL), Jessica Walter and Wendy Fulton as Muffin. But, sadly, no. It’s, um, people selling facial products or something. You almost had me, QVC. Almost!
