Tonight’s TV Addictions: June 1, 2009

The pickin’s are slim tonight, folks, but here’s what might be called the “least offensive” offerings of the night. Except THE BACHELORETTE, which is included ’cause, heck, some people are just that desperate for new programming.

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH CONAN O’BRIEN (11:35PM NBC)
An honest to goodness funny white guy at 11:35PM, now that’s change we can believe in!

NEW & NOTABLE:
THE BACHELORETTE (8PM ABC)
Wonder what would happen if you or I went rapelling down the side of a major hotel? I’m thinking arrest. Seeing as that’s on the agenda for Jillian tonight, here’s hoping the show comes with a “don’t try this at home — or at your local Holiday Inn — kids!” advisory.

HOUSE (8PM FOX)
This repeat is a tad unusual as for once, the pill-popping Doc isn’t the grumpiest guy in the room. Tonight, that honor goes to a patient played by the ubiquitous Zeljiko Ivanek who holds House and several others hostage while demanding treatment.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (9PM ABC)
Attention, soap fans: THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Eric Braeden — who plays that soap’s testy tycoon, Victor Newman — guests as Robin’s dad in this rerun. How sweet would it be if MOTHER’s Barney swung by Y&R’s Genoa City for a visit?

ONE TREE HILL (9PM CW)
Wondering which woman Lucas called during that “hey, let’s go to Vegas” cliffhanger? Um, where were you all season? In any case, here’s your chance to relive the magic. Or be wildly disappointed if, like us, you’re a Brucas fan.
