Meet the Addicts: Ace

In the world of theTVaddict.com, the community is represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the TV Addict and contributers, whose unhealthy addiction to the small screen is what keeps this little-website-that-could running. And our readers, whose insightful and spot-on comments inspire really inspire us to keep going by reminding us, “Holy Frak! People actually read us!” Which is why, in what we hope will become a weekly Friday feature this TV Addict thought it might be fun to shamelessly borrow an idea from PopCandy by introducing you to some of our fellow TV Addicts. These are their stories:

Name: I think I would like to keep myself somewhat anonymous.  I’m cool with people knowing me as Ace :).  But I can give you a little “who am I” instead.  I’m a 25 year old female attorney living in Norfolk, VA with my husband (who I force to watch a lot of TV). My blog obsession started as escapism from law school and hasn’t worn off yet.  I actually started school with the plan to become a TV/Film critic, but that changed somewhere along the line.  It is really hard to sneak pop-culture jokes into briefs though.

Shameless Plug: I’m on twitter @allyace, but I more follow than update.  It is a weird world we live in though b/c I found out that Michael Jackson had died through Andy Roddick’s twitter…

Favorite Shows Past/Present:  In no particular order: LOST, CHUCK, PUSHING DAISIES, SEX AND THE CITY, GREY’S ANATOMY FRIENDS, FRINGE, HOUSE, PROJECT RUNWAY, MASH, SCRUBS, SEINFELD, ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, THE DAILY SHOW, THE OFFICE, WEEDS, GILMORE GIRLS, THE WIRE, FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS, TOP CHEF, BETTER OFF TED, SYTYCD, ALLY MCBEAL, MY SO-CALLED LIFE. TV shows on DVD are pretty much the best invention ever.

Show that got you hooked on TV: That was really early on.  I’ve always been one of those people that did homework in front of the TV.  So, it started with kids shows like TINY TOON ADVENTURES, ANIMANIACS, DARKWING DUCK, BATMAN BEYOND, CLARISSA EXPLAINS IT ALL, etc. My brother and I would race to the couch to be the first to grab the remote.  I think the first shows I really became obsessed with were FRIENDS and SEINFELD.

Celebrity Encounter Story:  You know, I’ve been to LA and NYC, but I have never met a celebrity outside of their element.  I saw Tom Arnold on THE TONIGHT SHOW a few years ago.  I don’t think I have ever seen someone more nervous in my life.  He was shaking from the waist down and constantly wringing his hands.  We watched the telecast that night and decided they must have cropped all of his shots so you couldn’t tell.  Oh the magic of television.

Famous person you’d like to meet and why:  Since the premiere of PROJECT RUNWAY I have wanted Tim Gunn to be my best friend, so I could hear his Timisms all the time.  “I’m sorry you are having a tough day, but make it work!”  How awesome would that be?  And let’s face it, if you are friends with Tim Gunn…who won’t you meet?

Favorite Websites (aside from theTVaddict.com):  For entertainment news I also go to buzzsugar and pinkisthenewblog.  My LOST source is Jeff Jensen on EW.  No one discusses LOST and makes you feel dumb better than that guy.  I’m a very sarcastic person, so my other two favorite blogs are written by hilariously sarcastic duos: gofugyourself and projectrungay.  The “Fug Girls” are two friends who lovingly make fun of what celebrities wear.  Tom and Lorenzo are a couple who started a blog to discuss PROJECT RUNWAY, but now it is so much more.  If you like PROJECT RUNWAY, MAKE ME A SUPERMODEL, LOST or fashion, definitely check them out.  And if you just need to smile, then I recommend disapprovingrabbits.

Thanks Ace for being our ‘Meet the Addicts’ guinea pig! If you’d like to have your fifteen minutes of fame, please contact the TV Addict via email or twitter.
