Our 2010 Golden Globe Predictions: TV Comedy Division

Before NBC replaces this Sunday’s 67th ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS with a very-special instalment of THE JAY LENO SHOW (Thank you, thank you, I’ll be here all night, Tip your waiters!) this TV Addict is proud (or not-so-proud depending on how things turn out!) to present our winning picks for our favorite annual awards telecast, comedy division (Click here for out Drama picks.)

Nominees: 30 ROCK, ENTOURAGE, GLEE, MODERN FAMILY, THE OFFICE

Will Win: GLEE
With a post-AMERICAN IDOL time-slot on the horizon, America’s love affair with GLEE is just getting started. And if there is one thing the Hollywood Foreign Press loves more than getting wined and dined by Hollywood bigwigs, it’s anointing ‘the next big thing.’

Should Win: MODERN FAMILY
And not just because we want to see the adorable Rico Rodriguez (Manny) deliver an acceptance speech on behalf of the funniest dysfunctional family to hit the airwaves since the Bluths.

Nominees: Alec Baldwin, Steve Carell, David Duchovny, Thomas Jane, Matthew Morrison

Will Win: Alec Baldwin
Just how funny is Baldwin’s poster-boy for corporate America? Put it this way, if the head honchos of Goldman Sachs  and AIG made us laugh even half as much, we’d probably be willing to let border-line criminal behaviour like this slide.

Should Win: Steve Carell
Cue hilarious reaction from (friendly nemesis) Ricky Gervais in 3… 2… 1…

Nominees: Courteney Cox, Toni Collette, Edie Falco, Tina Fey, Lea Michele

Will Win: Lea Michele
She sings! She acts! She Dances! But more to the point, she’s a beautiful and talented young ingenue, which as previous winners such as America Ferrera, Keri Russell, Jennifer Garner and Anna Paquin have illustrated — is irresistible to Globe voters.

Should Win: Courteney Cox
As COUGAR TOWN showrunner Bill Lawrence so accurately put it during this week’s Television Critics Association Press Tour, “It’s rare that you find a big-name actor or actress who is willing to so quickly make fun of themselves and mock themselves.  In a lot of ways, that no humility is one of the keys to comedy.”
