Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Super Bowl Alternatives

Lost all interest in the Super Bowl now that YouTube pretty much posts commercials online, as they happen? Join the club. Which is why we thought we’d offer up a few alternative viewing suggestions on the off chance you’re looking for something other than the big game to watch tonight.

PUPPY BOWL VI (3, 5, 7 9, 11PM Animal Planet)
Just when you thought Animal Planet’s sixth annual PUPPY BOWL — which features a range of canine youngster playing on a miniature football field — couldn’t get any cuter, along comes a halftime show put on by kittens and a cheering section filled with rabbits.

DANCES WITH WOLVES (8PM AMC)
Still haven’t found the time to see James Cameron’s Avatar on the big screen? Why not save yourself the $12.50, overpriced concessions and 3-D induced headache with this eerily similar Kevin Costner epic.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC (7PM ABC Family)
Wondering what’s the polar opposite of a bunch of testosterone fuelled gridiron warriors? The Von Trapp Family Singers: A gaggle of lederhosen clad blonde-haired blue-eyed moppets singing about cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels. Well, that or TBS’ chick flick marathon featuring Mean Girls (1PM), The Wedding Planner (3PM), Failure to Launch (5PM), and Titanic (7 and 11PM).

THE BIGGEST LOSER: COUPLES 7, 9PM NBC)
After devouring a buffet of burgers, burritos and beverages (Oh My!) during the first half of Super Bowl XLIV, it probably wouldn’t hurt to check out the show you’ll be auditioning for by the time Super Bowl XLV rolls around. Just a thought.

LAW & ORDER Marathon (11AM – 11PM TNT)
Required viewing for NFL fans wishing to keep up with their favorite players off the field. (SVU fan? USA Network has you covered from 10AM – 10PM)
