An In Depth Look At… the New ALL MY CHILDREN!

What a difference a day makes… or, in the case of ALL MY CHILDREN, a new headwriter. Let’s face it… under previous scribe Chuck Pratt, things got downright wonky in Pine Valley. But since he was ousted, things have been looking up thanks in large part to interrim writer Lorraine Broderick and the rest of the scripters. And as our friends at Soaps In Depth reveal in their latest issue, there’s a lot to look forward to in the weeks to come!

“The show is finally getting back on track,” shares executive editor Richard M. Simms. “The scripts are both tighter and lighter, with a lot of the soap’s trademark humor returning. And characters are acting the way we expect them to act, which wasn’t necessarily the case a few months ago.” As proof of the behaviral modification, he points our attention in the direction of the two rivalries which take center stage this week. “There’s a really interesting play on the history of the show taking place. For years and years, Brooke and Erica have been at each other’s throats. But right now, each of them is taking on pesky whippersnappers — Annie and Greenlee, respectively — who think they can stake a claim on what belongs to our favorite divas,” he says, adding with a laugh, “Methinks they are sadly mistaken!”

So what’s at stake? “Everything!” says Simms. “Brooke’s return has thrown a wrench into Annie’s plans to rool the Chandler roost. Or maybe I should say a tire iron, since that’s what Annie used to kill her brother. As for Erica and Greenlee, they’re duking it out over control of Fusion. At least on the surface. In reality, Greenlee’s still probably kinda bitter about the fact that during that year she was presumed dead, her true love, Ryan, slept with Erica.”

Yes, the same Ryan who slept with Erica’s daughter, Kendall. This is, after all, a soap!

Throw in the fact that Annie’s stepson is fighting for his life and Erica is blackmailing Greenlee’s husband and you’ve got the makings for fireworks!

The new issue also features an interview with GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Maurice Benard (Sonny) and two of his on-screen sons, Drew Garrett (Michael) and Dominic Zamprogna (Dante), as well as details on the ONE LIFE TO LIVE love triangle that is going to test the loyalties of the Cramer gals!
