HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER: Be More Funny.

In summing up our feelings with regards to last night’s disappointing instalment of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, we’re going to borrow a line from one of our century’s most important thinkers Homer J. Simpson who put it best when he yelled at the TV three simple words, “Be more funny.”

Granted, the HIMYM writing staff’s penchant for coming up with clever memes like Marshall’s “Drunk or Kid” never ceases to amaze us. And yes, we’re the first to admit that we’re complete suckers for slow motion reveals like the one that had the episode culminate with the revelation that the money pit Ted had just blown his life savings on was in fact… wait for it… the very house where those two poor kids (Lyndsey Fonseca and David Henrie) have spent the last five years enduring the world’s longest story (Paging Child Services, line one!). That said, the operative word here was “funny,” and much to our chagrin, there was very little to laugh about during last night’s episode.

Mother be damned, at this point we’d settle for meeting a new and more importantly funny storyline. If the writers insist on pressing pause on Ted’s growth and development as a character, the least they could do is give Marshall and Lilly or Robin and Don (Remember him?) something interesting to do. Suffice to say, either the show moves on, or we do. Showrunners Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, we leave it to you guys to decide.
