An In Depth Look At… The New Stories Rocking THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS!

It ain’t easy being rich. Just ask THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Abby, who is part Newman, part Abbott, and all brat! This week, the scheme queen — who is now being played by fan favorite Marcy Rylan (ex-Lizzie, GUIDING LIGHT) — pushes her parents to the limit with her out-of-control antics. “Abby wants to be the star of her own reality show,” explains Soaps In Depth executive editor Richard M. Simms. “But Victor and Ashley have told their daughter in no uncertain terms that they aren’t handing over a dime of her trust fund. So what’s a poor little rich girl to do?” In a scandal worthy of the Lohan clan, Abby decides to sue her parents!

As they say in the infomercials, “but wait… there’s more!” The magazine’s latest issue also has the scoop on bad boy Ryder’s return and how it’ll impact Kevin’s already troubled marriage! “Thanks to that pesky brain surgery Jana had, she’s walking around like a Stepford wife, completely unable to feel emotions,” explains Simms. “She’s having trouble reconnecting with the world in general and Kevin in particular.” But the recently returned Ryder? Well, that might be another story. “What if this cruel twist of fate has put Jana in a position where the person she most easily relates to is the very same guy who helped hold her hostage for weeks on end? And who just happens to be her husband’s half-brother?”

Ouch.

The issue also features summer preview from not only Y&R but also THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL and AS THE WORLD TURNS, as well as the second of two special DAYS OF OUR LIVES bonus sections. “We had to pay tribute to Frances Reid,” says Simms of the iconic actress who passed away in November and whose alter ego, DAYS’ Alice, will die in the weeks to come. “The show is bringing back a lot of past favorites, including Melissa Reeves (Jennifer) and Christie Clark (Carrie), and the episodes are going to be very, very dramatic. We asked the cast to share their memories of both the actress and her character, and it was nice to be able to pay tribute to one of daytime’s legendary performers.”
