An In Depth Look At… THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Feudin’ Females!

What’s good news for soap lovers — Maura West (Carly, AS THE WORLD TURNS) is back on daytime! — is a major bummer for THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Phyllis, who is ticked to have Diane (the role West has stepped into) back in Genoa City.

“Jack and Phyllis have been having a lot of fun together, both in bed and out of it,” says Soaps In Depth executive editor Richard M. Simms. “So Diane popping back into the picture is the last thing she needs.” But Diane is back, and she very quickly manages to put herself smack-dab beneath Jack’s nose. “I think you’re going to see a lot of fireworks between those two women in the weeks and months to come. The great thing is that lately, Phyllis has regained her spunk. For far too long, she was sort of a wimp. She spent months letting Nick walk all over her while he waffled between her and Sharon. Now, Nick’s out of the picture and so is whiney Phyllis. The kick-butt gal fans missed is back.”

In other words, with Phyllis and Diane circling one another, things are about to get very, very interesting! Elsewhere in the issue, Y&R’s Amelia Heinle (Victoria) talks about being the subject of on-line gossip, the exit of her off-screen spouse (and former on-screen hubby) Thad Luckinbill (J.T.) and what it’s like being part of a supercouple like Billy and Victoria. And fans of THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL will enjoy hearing the always-entertaining Scott Clifton (Liam; ex-Schuyler, ONE LIFE TO LIVE; ex-Dillon, GENERAL HOSPITAL) talk about life on his new soap and his rather unusual idea for his alter ego’s love life. And in a special DAYS OF OUR LIVES section, Crystal Chappell (Carly, DAYS; Olivia, GUIDING LIGHT) shares her thoughts on having been part of a groundbreaking lesbian romance and what lessons she learned on GL that she’s brought with her to web soap VENICE. Finally, there’s a feature on the many (many, many, many) weddings of B&B’s Brooke — including captions that will make even haters of the characters crack a smile.
