Can’t wait until 8PM tonight to find out just what alcohol-fuelled-craziness goes down at Brooke’s Hangover-esque Bachelorette party? Well, neither could we! Which is why we just got off the phone with Sharon Lawrence — better known to ONE TREE HILL fans as Brooke’s monster-in-law-to-be — in an effort to find out what fans can expect from tonight’s big bash.
Sharon Lawrence: Yes. That and working with Sophia [Bush]. She and I had done a pilot together last year and when I heard that she was directing the first episode that my character would appear in, it was so exciting to get to work with her. Aside from being so impressed with her, I’m a past chairman of a Woman in Film Foundation, so I love supporting female directors. It was an easy yes.
You know for me it really depends on the environment and vibe of the show. A happy set is a welcoming set no matter what and ONE TREE HILL is a really happy set. Really, I was quite impressed with that, and to hang out with all the cast of this episode — which is just a female version of The Hangover — I got to be with the girls, and I really felt like one of the girls, it was delight. I love supporting woman and they all enjoy each other so much, it was great.
It is wild. Because the girls drink something with some very unexpected after-affects the result is that they have to sort or piece together what happened and what they did. There are four-legged creatures that become part of this odd scene, Dave Navarro, a two-legged creature is a part of it, and there’s great music. It feels like Brooke is sort of out through the looking glass, going through this weird odyssey. As for my character Sylvia, she and Brook really jump off an emotional precipice together, it’s a really critical time for them, the night before the wedding, they are stretched to the limits, everybody is.
Everybody has secrets on that show! And, as you probably know, weddings bring together lots of different people and I had such a good time working with all of them. Daphne [Zuniga] and I go way back, we were in acting school together, we’re going to see each other tonight as a matter of fact. It’s great to be able to work to those people that know, who have been around the business. To see Greg Harrison and get to work with him, because we play ex-husband and wife on the show. Weddings always have family secrets.
I was delighted to see their commitment. I’ve been working with Global Green for 15 years now, and their support and what they brought to the table with their social networking platform and their great ideas about Gasoline Rainbows, the album they put together is really inspiring. They know how to harness the people who are attached to what hey do, who care about making a difference.
