HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER’s “Oh, Honey” Recap: We’ve Got Your Good, Bad & Ugly

THE GOOD: Be it the pitch-perfect casting of Katy Perry as the brainless wonder Honey (Or as Ted so accurately put it to Barney, “I’d say hump her brains out, but somebody obviously already has.”) to the clever and completely in-character way in which Marshall was kept in the loop while remaining in Minnesota to care for his grieving mother, there was very little not to love when it came to last night’s Ted-centric episode. In fact, thanks to the welcome return of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER’s trademark storytelling device that had the mystery unravel via multiple points of view, “Oh Honey” may have been our favorite of the season thus far. THE BAD: Which is, we’re not entirely sure as to how we feel about Ted’s relationship with Zoey. Nothing against star Jennifer Morrison — who has been given the almost thankless role of playing yet another one of Ted’s lady-in-waitings — but we just can’t help but wonder as to what exactly is the point of having both Ted (and by extension the audience) invest the time and energy into getting to know another love interest that we’re fairly confident isn’t the titular mother. Particularly this late in the game.

THE UGLY: If Barney is seriously expecting to get a call from his bio-Dad, leaving “burner” phones in the apartment of any one of a number of his nightly conquests is probably not the smartest way to go about it!
