Reminder: A Pilot Order Does Not a Series Make!

‘Tis the season for casting pilots. And while we wouldn’t normally have anything negative to say about headlines that consistently tout the return of some of our favorite stars of TV season’s past (see: Liza Weil, Matt Long, Becki Newton, among others), we can’t help but feel that media outlets who normally break such casting scoops are being somewhat disingenuous in their reporting by neglecting to remind readers as to just how few of these shows actually make it to air. Which is why we’re dedicating “Today’s TV Addict Top 5” to a handful of pilots that didn’t make it on a Network schedule last season despite their showrunner’s pedigree and stars attached.

INSIDE THE BOX, ABC
From Shonda Rhimes (GREY’S ANATOMY, PRIVATE PRACTICE) came the story of an ambitious Washington based female news producer (Kim Raver) and her colleagues (Sarah Drew, Jason George, Jennifer Finnigan, Martin Henderson, among others) whose extracurriculars will be more exciting than the stories they cover.
