From ENTOURAGE to SUBURGATORY, We Shine the Spotlight on Star Rex Lee

After eight seasons of Hollywood Hijinx, this Sunday September 11th marks the end of the road for ENTOURAGE. Luckily for actor Rex Lee — who credits the hit HBO series with “changing my life and my world” — there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

For cushioning the blow that is the series finale of the show that put him on the map is a supporting role in ABC’s much-buzzed-about single-camera comedy SUBURGATORY. A role that will see the actor segueing from put-upon assistant turned agent to put-upon guidance counsellor for new student and series star Tessa (Played to pitch-perfect perfection by Jane Levy).

“The way that Mr. Wolfe is similar yet different to Lloyd is that if Lloyd is maligned in a very sort of overtly abusive way, Mr. Wolfe is maligned in a sort of neglectful way,” said Lee on the differences between his SUBURGATORY and ENTOURAGE characters. “Mr. Wolfe is experiencing a great deal of neglect from the people he’s trying to guide and help and it’s not until Tessa comes to town that he has someone who actually talks to him. So he’s just really excited.”

Also exciting for Lee are the rumors of an ENTOURAGE reunion on the silver screen that simply refuse to die. Explained Lee, “I’ve heard nothing. I know that they were talking about it, I know that everybody wants to do it and lately I’ve noticed in the press that a lot of my castmates are very definitely saying we’re going to do it. But that is not official, so I will not say that.”

What Lee will say is that regardless of what the future has in store for him career-wise, he will never be one of those actors who forgets his roots. Which is to say, unlike many ANGEL stars actors who shall remain nameless, he’ll always have a special place in his heart for the role that turned him into a household name.

“It was certainly something I thought about in the beginning until I very quickly came around to thinking that it was a good problem to have,” admitted Lee when asked if he ever worried about becoming ENTOURAGE’s “Screech” equivalent. “If at the end of my career all I have to show for it is that people associate me with Lloyd, that’s not bad. In fact, it’s incredibly flattering.”

SUBURGATORY stars Jane Levy, Jeremy Sisto, Allie Grant, Alan Tudyk, Ana Gasteyer, Cheryl Hines and Rex Lee and premieres this Wednesday September 28th at 8:30PM on ABC (CityTV in Canada)
