Buzzing About… CASTLE

Miss last night’s episode? Here’s everything you need to know about CASTLE’s “47 Seconds”

AIRDATE: 3/26/12 WRITER: Shalisha Francis DIRECTOR: Paul Holahan SYNOPSIS: When a bomb explodes during an Occupy Wall Street-esque protest rally, it falls to Castle, Beckett and Co. to reconstruct the 47 seconds prior to the explosion to find out who’s responsible. A task made all the more complicated thanks to the sudden and shocking nature of the tragedy which may-or-may-not serve as the impetus for Castle and Beckett to finally confront their feelings for one another. NOTABLE QUOTABLES: “I was shot in the chest and I remember every second of it!” said Beckett to a suspect during questioning without realizing that she may have inadvertantly revealed the truth about what happened following last season’s shocking shooting. HISTORIC MOMENT: Victoria “Iron” Gates paid Castle his first compliment. Well, sort of. LESSON LEARNED: Cementing what is quite possibly our favorite small-screen father/daughter duo, Alexis saves chocolate chip smiley face pancakes for emergency cheering up sessions usually reserved for break-ups and DANCING WITH THE STARS eliminations. CRITIQUE: Despite the fact that last night’s episode was probably not the most opportune time to costume numerous suspects in dark hoodies (see: Trayvon Martin tragedy) “47 Seconds” illuminated absolutely everything we love about this show. Which is to say, not only did the fantastic flashback filled whodunit reinforce just how much energy the CASTLE writing staff puts into their cut above case-of-the-weeks, the explosion’s aftermath created yet another organic — and more to the point — completely believable obstacle in the path of Castle and Beckett’s inevitable happily ever after. GRADE: A-
