Buzzing About… RAISING HOPE

Miss last night’s episode? Here’s what you need to know about RAISING HOPE’s “Hogging All the Glory”

AIRDATE: 3/27/12 WRITER:: Mike Mariano DIRECTOR: Mike Mariano SYNOPSIS: In response to what he perceives as a lack of recognition for all his volunteer gardening around the Church, Burt decides to run for the chair of the Natesville church group against a holier-than-thou two-term President Sarah Louise (Vivica A. Fox). Unfortunately, his campaign may be over before it started after the seeing-eye-pig he was supposed to take care of ends up at the wrong end of Maw Maw’s butcher knife! (Trust us, it’s far funnier than it sounds). INTRODUCED: Sarah Louise, the chairperson of “Heaven’s Helpers” played to pitch perfect perfection by Vivica A. Fox, David Krumholtz as a blind churchgoer and the most adorable pig since the Simpsons adopted. NOTABLE QUOTABLE: “Maw Maw, I’ve told you before, watching Ellen isn’t considered a lesbian experience,” said Virginia in response to Maw Maw’s assertion that she was the only member of the family to have had a same-sex experience. LESSON LEARNED: Under no circumstances should you be bringing your family to Natesville’s petting zoo! CRITIQUE: From the hilarious cold open that saw the Chance family reenact a Peanuts cartoon as a result of no longer being able to afford a Sunday paper to the heartwarming ending in which Burt learned a valuable life lesson about giving back, the only thing remotely negative we can say about last night’s phenomenal episode of RAISING HOPE that yet again gave each and every member of the Chance family an equal opportunity to shine is that more people didn’t tune in to enjoy it. GRADE: A
