HBO Renews GAME OF THRONES For a Third Season

Irregardless of whether or not you approve of newly-crowned King Joffrey’s a little-too-hands-on management style, there’s no denying that he gets results. At least in terms of ratings for GAME OF THRONES highly touted second season, which HBO has just deemed worthy of a third.

According to HBO head honcho Michael Lombardo in a statement released today, “Series creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss raised our expectations for the second season – and then surpassed them. We are thrilled by all the viewer and media support we’ve received for the series, and can’t wait to see what Dan and David have in store for next season.”

According to us, the move comes as little surprise considering that GAME OF THRONES’ ambitious second season has averaged upwards of 8.3 million viewers across the networks many platforms since premiering on April 1st. What’s more, unlike most shows, which have a habit of shedding viewers from episode to episode, GAME OF THRONES has seen its audience remain virtually steady, with Sunday’s second instalment dropping less than three percent from the premiere.
