TV Bubble Watch 2012: We Irresponsibly Speculate On Which of Your Favorite CW Shows Will Live to See Another Season

With the Network’s traditional May UpFronts just around the corner, theTVaddict.com thought now might be as good a time as any to take a closer look at the potential fates of your favorite shows.

HART OF DIXIE
You Take the Good: Despite lacking its timeslot lead-ins penchant for generating buzzy tabloid headlines, ratings for this throwback series continue to outperform GOSSIP GIRL, not to mention much of the Network’s primetime schedule. Also working it HART OF DIXIE’s favor, WIlson Bethel has break-out star written all over him.
You Take the Bad: In the same way in which LIFE UNEXPECTED was unceremoniously handed its walking papers, HART OF DIXIE’s achilles heel remains its lack of built-in-brand name (Think: 90210, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES) that might better translate to big sales overseas.
You Take Them Both and There You Have… Our Prediction: Since newly-appointed Network President Mark Pedowitz most certainly would like to avoid seeing the entirety of his first primetime lineup deemed a colossal failure, we’re fairly confident in a HART OF DIXIE second season renewal.

NIKITA
You Take the Good: Since solid storytelling and impressive action sequences have very little to do with the bottom line, working in NIKITA’s favor most is a bankable star in Maggie Q whose fan base translates across the globe.
You Take the Bad: Ratings aside, the biggest threat to Nikita’s survival isn’t so much Percy or Gogol but rather the enemy from within. Translation… the Network’s ambitious slate of pilots that includes action-packed reboots and re-imaginations like the CW’s Green Arrow (ARROW), a Hunger Games rip-off (THE SELECTION) and the Kristin Kreuk top-lined take on BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.
You Take Them Both and There You Have… Our Prediction: R.I.P. NIKITA.

RINGER
You Take the Good: A talented and easy-on-the-eyes ensemble led by the very marketable Sarah Michelle Gellar.
You Take the Bad: Based on the show’s dismal ratings, a talented and easy-on-the-eyes ensemble led by the very marketable Sarah Michelle Gellar didn’t quite connect with a CW audience weaned on the likes of GOSSIP GIRL and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES.
You Take Them Both and There You Have… Our Prediction: This ambitious attempt by the CW to think different is the reason their 2012 development pipeline is filled with sure things such as THE CARRIE DIARIES. It’s also the reason RINGER won’t be around come Fall.

THE SECRET CIRCLE:
You Take the Good: It’s hard to argue with any show that provides a weekly fix of Gale Harold.
You Take the Bad: Even the immensely watchable Gale Harold wasn’t enough to keep us tuning into what turned out to be a serious snooze of a series.
You Take Them Both and There You Have… Our Prediction: After failing to capitalize in The CW’s most high profile timeslot by consistently hemorrhaging half its VAMPIRE DIARIES lead-in, you can pretty much stick a stake in THE SECRET CIRCLE.
