PARTNERS Preview: Sophia Bush, David Krumholtz, Brandon Routh and Michael Urie Talk Up Their New CBS Comedy

partners cast

As aptly described in the premiere episode of the new series PARTNERS, when two best friends find their soulmates, there are no longer just two couples, but three – for there are some friendships that are just as strong as romantic relationships.

In PARTNERS, two life-long best friends are practically joined at hip, even working out of the same office.   So while they are business partners of a platonic variety, each has a romantic partner and this fun comedy series seeks to highlight how tricky and funny it can be when two friends struggle to prioritize their romantic partners over their tried-and-true friendship.  Embracing the situation comedy that provides the foundation for the stories that the characters find themselves amongst, PARTNERS also has a strong thread of romantic comedy woven in as well.  In fact, its first episode is about a proposal and engagement.  It doesn’t get any more romantic than that!

Coming from the creators of the comedy series WILL & GRACE, it is easy to see that there is a familiar feel of comedy balanced with poignancy in PARTNERS as well. Bringing their ground-breaking eye for talent to bring these outrageous characters to life, there is an air of true friendship underlying the relationships.  Cast as the core friendship are stars David Krumholtz and Michael Urie, with Sophia Bush and Brandon Routh as their romantic partners.  There is a sense that the show is taking a risk with some unexpected casting choices and trusts that viewers will be curious and then charmed by their characters.

At a recent screening event at the Paley Center in Beverly Hills, the cast of PARTNERS shared a little about each of their characters and what lies ahead in the series:

As can be seen each of the cast are anxiously awaiting to see if the American television audience loves their series as much as they do.  But with the strong support of CBS behind them, the show has a good chance of wooing viewers.

To see the premiere of PARTNERS, tune in on Monday, September 24th at 8:30 p.m. on CBS (CityTV in Canada). Take a chance and discover a fun new series to add to your TV line-up! Photo Credits: Kevin Parry (Group Shot)
