Buzzing About… HART OF DIXIE

hart of dixie i fall to pieces

Miss last night’s episode? Here’s what you need to know about HART OF DIXIE’s “I Fall to Pieces”

AIRDATE: 02/10/12 WRITER: Leila Gerstein DIRECTOR: Tim Matheson SYNOPSIS: Picking up immediately following the events of last May’s shocking season finale that saw George call off his wedding to Lemon and confess his feelings to Zoe mere moments after she decided to jump into bed with Wade, HART OF DIXIE’s sophomore season premiere was a story about fresh starts. New beginnings if you will that force Zoe to choose between her feelings for both George and Wade while Lemon and George come to grips with the fact that they have absolutely no clue how to be on their own after spending the better part of their adult dating lives as a couple. INTRODUCED: Actress Golden Brooks as Ruby Jeffries, a young woman who returns to town to help out her family and figure out what’s next following the successful sale of her cosmetics line. NOTABLE QUOTABLE: “I finally understand what R. Kelly has been singing about all these years,” was how Zoe characterized her night of passion with Wade to Lavon — who much to his chagrin — has become her de facto option for “girl talk” in Bluebell. LESSONS LEARNED: Overachiever Zoe Hart finally found something she doesn’t excel at! At least according to pompous Wade, who countered his self-proclaimed A+ performance in the sac by giving Zoe a B-. Ouch! CRITIQUE: Do you seriously think we’d have anything negative to say about an episode that featured Wade and George tussling in the mud, Zoe taking a page from “Book of Kelly [Taylor]” by “choosing no one,” not to mention the series of unfortunate events that befell poor Lemon Breeland as her hilarious attempt to make strides towards becoming an independent woman resulted in an accidental “hostage crisis?” Well, it may surprise you that we do have one teensy little negative thing to say about last night’s stellar second season opener that continued to shine a spotlight on the showrunning prowess of creator Leila Gerstein (Note: Nothing says knowing ones audience like ensuring WIlson Bethel remains shirtless for a good 15% of any episode!). That negative? How on earth did a roomful of Hollywood scribes not manage to squeeze in one nod to DIXIE supporting actor Reginald VelJohnson — who famously found his way onto Hollywood’s radar in a little film called Die Hard — during Lemon’s little misunderstanding with the Bluebell police! GRADE: B+
