Good news for fans, the second season of BANSHEE continues the show’s lightning streak. There will be brawling fist-fights, fast cars, and plenty of Lucas Hood (Antony Starr).
Picking up right where the show left off in Season 1, everyone has a lot to answer for as the feds have arrived in Banshee to find out why a top Ukranian mobster like Rabbit (Ben Cross) singled out their small town to rain down hell. Apparently the feds just are not buying that it is a dust-up over a father-daughter falling out. So Carrie Hopewell aka Anna (Ivana Milicevic) has a lot of explaining to do – and because they are not questions she really wants to answer or can explain, the feds are threatening to throw her in jail until she feels like talking.
Unfortunately for Carrie, the feds are the only ones interested in talking with her, since her entire family has deemed her person non-gratis after they found out that she was not the mother/wife that they all thought she was. Caught between a rock and a hard place, Carrie really cannot explain and no one is in the forgiving mood. Carrie’s life has just officially entered the hell-zone.
Speaking of forgiveness, the entire police department has a lot to answer for as well in that their actions in recruiting civilians, namely Job (Hoon Lee) and Sugar (Frankie Faison), to rescue Sheriff Hood was a tad unusual; and Banshee is just one of those places that does better when not under a microscope. They manage their own problems just fine, but when examined, it does not exactly follow the book, which makes it a perfect place for the feds to make an example of. There is just too much that has happened since Hood came to town that seems unexplainable as to why there has been such a rapid rise of violence in a town that had been so under the wire previously.
Then, as if things were not complicated enough, throwing a huge wrinkle into Sheriff Hood’s carefully constructed fake identity is the arrival of the real Sheriff Hood’s estranged son, who has figured out that something happened to his dad since an imposter has assumed his identity.
Everyone has some fast tap-dancing to do to not only keep their jobs and their identities intact, and someone has got to step up and deal with their new fed problem. Because no one wants the feds hovering and keeping an eye on things, they all have to work together to encourage them to move along.
But because this is BANSHEE, things are likely to get a lot worse before they even slightly get better. The Rabbit-Carrie-Hood drama is but one piece of the BANSHEE puzzle. On the other side are Kai Proctor (Ulrich Thomsen) and his rebellious niece Rebecca (Lili Simmons) and their brewing war with Alex Longshadow (Anthony Ruivivar) and his mysterious sister Nola (Odette Annable). A war amongst such ruthless criminals may not normally interest Hood and his police department, but with Hood owing Kai a favor, their diverse interests become aligned fairly fast.
Then because Hood is actually supposed to be the sheriff of this formerly sleepy town, when an actual crime occurs, it falls upon his shoulders deal with it. Between Rabbit, the feds, Kai and Alex, that should be enough for any town. Yet someone forgot to send the cease-and-desist crime memo to the rest of the town’s low life criminals – one who murders a local teen girl and kidnaps a young boy. Just how is Hood to handle so many spinning plates in the air when all he wants to do is grab his girl and leave town?
So Season 2 of BANSHEE sets up the drama and ten impossible things for Hood to do before breakfast. The good news is, he’s up to the task. With his trusty cohorts Job and Sugar, and his surprisingly loyal police department team, Hood finds a way to save the day time and time again. Now if he could only find a way to not get beat up in the process. Luckily for him, there is no shortage of lovely ladies willing to help ease his pain and offer a night or two of solace; and the power of sexual healing goes a long ways. 
BANSHEE returns with its scorching hot 2nd season on Friday, January 10th at 10:00 p.m. on Cinemax.
