Golden Globes 2014: We Predict Who Will (and Should) Win

Wondering who will walk away a winner at tonight’s 71st ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBES (airing tonight at 8PM on NBC and CTV in Canada)? Well, aside from us audience members — who are already big winners thanks to tonight’s hilarious hosting duo of Tina Fey and Amy Poeher — theTVaddict.com has irresponsibly took it upon himself to offer up our take on who will (and should) win. See for yourself, after the jump.

Best TV Series, Drama
Nominees: BREAKING BAD, DOWNTON ABBEY, THE GOOD WIFE, HOUSE OF CARDS, MASTERS OF SEX.
Will Win: BREAKING BAD, which set a new gold-standard for how to properly end a critically adored fan favorite.
Should Win: BREAKING BAD, I mean, seriously, did you see those final four episodes?

Best Actress in a TV Series, Drama
Nominees: Juliana Marguilies (THE GOOD WIFE), Tatiana Maslany (ORPHAN BLACK), Taylor Schilling (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK), Kerry Washington (SCANDAL), Robin Wright (HOUSE OF CARDS)
Will Win: Tatiana Maslany, after-all, the Hollywood Foreign Press loves nothing more than to crown the “next big thing!”. Case in point, previous wins for America Ferrera (UGLY BETTY) and Keri Russell (FELICITY).
Should Win: Tatiana Maslany, for — with apologies to one particular group of Cylons circa BATTLESTAR GALACTICA — taking the juggling of multiple personas to an entirely different level.

Best Actor in a TV Series, Drama
Nominees: Bryan Cranston (BREAKING BAD), Live Schreiber (RAY DONOVAN), Michael Sheen (MASTERS OF SEX), Kevin Spacey (HOUSE OF CARDS), James Spader (THE BLACKLIST)
Will Win: Bryan Cranston, if for no other reason that we desperately want his acceptance speech to boil down to four words, “It’s over. I won.”
Should Win: James Spader, I mean the man single-handedly brought back actual meaning to NBC’s once iconic motto of “Must See TV.”

Best TV Series, Musical or Comedy
Nominees: THE BIG BANG THEORY, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, GIRLS, MODERN FAMILY, PARKS AND REACTION
Will Win: THE BIG BANG THEORY, can an astounding twenty million viewers per week really be that wrong?
Should Win: BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, let’s here it for some funny fresh faces!

Best Actress in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy
Nominees: Zooey Deschanel (NEW GIRL), Lena Dunham (GIRLS), Edie Flaco (NURSE JACKIE), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (VEEP), Amy Poehler (PARKS AND RECREATION)
Will Win: Julia Louis-Dreyfus, unlike America’s current crop of female leaders, Louis-Dreyfus’ Selina Meyer is intentionally funny and hilariously so.
Should Win: Amy Poehler. Knope We Can?!

Best Actor in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy
Nominees: Jason Bateman (ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, Don Cheadle (HOUSE OF LIES), Michael J. Fox (THE MICHAEL J. FOX SHOW), Jim Parsons (THE BIG BANG THEORY), Andy Samberg (BROOKLYN NINE-NINE)
Will Win: Michael J. Fox, aside from being one of the most likeable guys on television, Hollywood loves nothing more than to reward a good comeback story and Michael J. Fox is nothing short of a great one.
Should Win: Andy Samberg. Move over Zooey Deschanel, Samberg has brought “Adorkable” back.

Best TV Movie or Mini-Series
Nominees: AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN, BEHIND THE CANDELABRA, DANCING ON THE EDGE, TOP OF THE LAKE, THE WHITE QUEEN
Will Win: BEHIND THE CANDELABRA. Risky material that reinforced the notion that it’s not TV… it’s HBO.
Should Win: AMERICAN HORROR STORY, whose success has single-handedly reinvigorated a once dormant genre and inspired a series of copycats (See: HBO’s new limited series TRUE DETECTIVE).

Best Actress in a Mini-Series or TV Movie
Nominees: Helena Bonham Carter (BURTON AND TAYLOR), Rebecca Ferguson (THE WHITE QUEEN), Jessica lange (AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN), Helen Mirren (Phil Spector), Elisabeth Moss (TOP OF THE LAKE).
Will Win: Helen Mirren. Movie Star + TV Movie = Award magnate.
Should Win: Elisabeth Moss, for proving that her equally enthralling portrayal of MAD MEN’s Peggy Olson is no accident.

Best Actor in a Mini_Series or TV Movie
Nominees: Matt Damon (BEHIND THE CANDELABRA), Michael Douglas (BEHIND THE CANDELABRA), Chiwetel Ejiofor (DANCING ON THE EDGE), Idris Elba (LUTHER), Al Pacino (Phil Spector)
Will Win: Michael Douglas.
Should Win: Matt Damon.

Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Mini-Series or TV Movie
Nominees: Jacqueline Bisset (DANCING ON THE EDGE), Janet McTeer (THE WHITE QUEEN), Hayden Panettiere (NASHVILLE), Monica Potter (PARENTHOOD), Sofia Vergara (MODERN FAMILY)
Will Win: Hayden Panettiere.
Should Win: Monica Potter. A TV Addict can dream can’t he?

Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Mini-Series or TV Movie
Nominees: Josh Charles (THE GOOD WIFE), Rob Lowe (BEHIND THE CANDELABRA), Aaron Paul (BREAKING BAD), Corey Stoll (HOUSE OF CARDS), Jon Voight (RAY DONOVAN)
Will Win: Aaron Paul. Rumor has it that Buzzfeed is already salivation over the meme potential!
Should Win: Josh Charles. Does Will Gardner not deserve a break after the year he’s had?
